What’s your unpopular Hermes opinion?

I don’t have a grail bag. In fact, I have no idea what to ask for.
I like to see something and if I fall in love with it, I buy it.
(of course, assuming it’s in my target price range lol)
I agree — with the exception of a few green hues I’ve been waiting years on, I did not initially know what to say when my SA texted me last week asking what is on my current wishlist re: B/Ks (besides those greens, lol). I just told her “you know what items I like, not just bags — if there’s something out there you think I’ll like, you know where to find me”. No expectations— I want to be pleasantly surprised!

I feel the same. H called me two months ago to tell me that I had reached my half year limit of buying SLGs and bags from the website and that I could only buy more online from July onwards. Then they told me that they noticed that I've been buying a lot of different things from their website for years and called me a "good customer". Therefore they wanted to know if they could do anything for me and if I would like to get an appointment at a boutique near me because there I would be allowed to buy more bags and to set up a wishlist. I told them that I don't have a wish and that I'm not interested in buying quota bags. We agreed to make an appointment at the end of July because only then I'd be traveling to a city with an H boutique anyway. I live in the middle of nowhere and have only ever had an H online account, not in a boutique. They seemed quite interested in getting me into a boutique. I'm a bit overstrained with that to be honest.

My unpopular opinion, I have found that Epsom leather can sometimes feel artificial and uncomfortable. While I can appreciate its durability, I personally prioritize the softness of the leather. A well-worn appearance and texture are more appealing to me than a bag made from Epsom leather.

I don't think it's an unpopular opinion

Birkin offer, but it's Epsom

Non-Epsom Sellier Kelly?

Advice please: First H bag offer but it's Epsom

Advise on EPSOM Kelly

Should I pass on Anemone B30 in Epsom?

Kelly Cut In Blue Sapphire (Epsom Leather.... Opinions Wanted

Epsom vs Courchevel

The only thing I like about Epsom is the name. The only leather item I returned (from h.com) was perfect in every way, except I couldn't get passed the Epsom leather. I know it's not for me, bot even for a small object.

I can totally understand wanting light, scratch-resistant, takes-colour-well, usually OK in the rain, keeps-structure leather (is stored correctly) etc. On the other hand, those are the properties of plastic. I have other brand pressed-rolled leather I don't mind at all too, so it's not just the fact it's processed/stamped (in fact most of H's leathers are even though they don't look it) but Epsom has the most artificial feel about it.

There are just as many threads that sing Epsom's praises. Epsom seems to divide H-lovers down the middle - and to the extremes, a real love/hate divider (Box and Swift similarly). People either want an Hermes bag SLG that looks brand new for life (unless you scratch it - plenty of threads on Epsom lovers panicking because of Epsom getting deeply scratched/scraped) even though it looks and feels nothing like leather, OR people want something that looks, feels, smells natural and real, shows the life it's lived.

I'll qualify my "like" by saying I'm not into pastel or medium pink bags, like rose sakura or even rose azalee. Deep/vibrant pinks, on the other hand, like rose poupre/mexico, I love.
Oddly enough as a pink lover I don’t like rose Sakura either. I thought there was a pink that I didn’t like until RS. Learn something new about myself everyday

Unpopular opinion: I’m happy to see the back of some sales associates who are “close” to those who have active IG accounts, who don’t apply for lottery “appointments” and waltz out the store with a coveted bag(s).

I choose to keep my IG private. I don’t want the world to know me or my business.

I apply for an appointment like the rest of the world. I have made relationships with SA’s over years and years of purchase history … longer than XYZ from IG.

My unpopular opinion..the Birkin Faubourg is ridiculous. My opinion is a Birkin is supposed to be a carryall tote bag. Having said that, I can appreciate the work that goes into making it because I really love the brand and the artisanal aspect of it. But I would feel so ridiculous walking around with a bag that has a bunch of little windows on it, lol. I also think those tiny Kelly doll bags are just as ridiculous if not worse. I’m not a child, and I don’t understand why they’re making bags to look like dolls for grown women. The little arms are so freaky.
I look at bags like that, including the Birkin 25, and say "to each her own." I agree with you, they're teeny bags that don't function as anything I could use daily. Maybe to go out to dinner (where I like to switch to bags that fit in my lap), but it's a tote, and a tote is supposed to tote stuff.

Unpopular opinion. I’m not a fan of the calvi though I use one. Sadly the calvi doesn’t really work for me. In order for my 3-six cards maximum to stay in place, I have to stuff the calvi with other things (bandaids, Purell wipe, eye glass cloth, etc, and there is still a ton of slippage and extra room. Even unstuffed, it’s about as thick as my dior accordion case, and I jerry rigged the dior to also hold my key and (optional) fob. I did debate whether a box calvi would be more secure, but I’m tired of experimenting with H options that aren’t meeting my needs. I do have an H simple card case somewhere that is too small for more than a few cards; I suppose I could try to stretch it out lol (fourth pic)

I buy the bags bc I love them enough to overlook the issues: weight; capacity; bulk; and carry, but don’t really want to compromise further on slg. An option would be to ask a custom leather artisan to scale a version of the calvi down to my specs. . . A smaller sellier version of the calvi would be more secure. Come to think of it, now that I look at my universal sunglass case (valextra) which is one of my favorite SLGs, along with my travel shoe horn (hiro yanagimachi),* perhaps those sources could be explored too. DH has a custom trifold (a slim, scaled down, version of the gurnsey L shaped trifold card case, made out of 50 year old vintage sharkskin. DHs card case is durable and functional as well as gorgeous, from Duret (last pic). More sleek than my calvi. I’m envious

*ETA: maybe my real unpopular opinion is that SLG from other makers are cuter ( fifth pic of travel shoehorn)
