Unpopular opinion. I’m not a fan of the calvi though I use one. Sadly the calvi doesn’t really work for me. In order for my 4-six cards to stay in place, I have to stuff the calvi with other things (bandaids, Purell wipe, eye glass cloth, etc, and there is still a ton of slippage and extra room. Even unstuffed, it’s about as thick as my dior accordion case, and I jerry rigged the dior to also hold my key and (optional) fob. I did debate whether a box calvi would be more secure, but I’m tired of experimenting with H options that aren’t meeting my needs. I do have an H simple card case somewhere that is too small for more than a few cards; I suppose I could try to stretch it out lol.

I buy the bags bc I love them enough to overlook the issues: weight; capacity; bulk; and carry, but don’t really want to compromise further on slg. An option would be to ask a custom leather artisan to scale a version of the calvi down to my specs. . . Come to think of it, now that I look at my universal sunglass case (valextra) which is one of my favorite SLGs, along with my travel shoe horn (hiro yanagimachi), perhaps those sources could be explored too.

I have several Valextra card cases of varying styles. They are light and much more compact than Calvis. Definitely worth exploring! Back OT: my unpopular opinion is that too many SLGs are almost-but-not-quite-right for practical use. In particular, the zipper design of some styles often limits what will fit into them notwithstanding the overall dimensions of the piece. Still hunting for something that will snugly fit my iPad Pro, or my phone portable power bank….

DH has a custom trifold (a version of the gurnsey wallet) made out of 50 year old vintage sharkskin that is durable and functional, as well as gorgeous from Duret. I’m envious

What if you just put all six cards in one slot?

I hate swift leather. It's one and done for me. (Swift ML touch Gold on gold). When it gets even a bit wet (as in damp hands making contact), it turns a slight green, there is a random fold in the middle of the bag and I did not even squish it. NEVER again. As I was at the cashier paying for my latest bag, I was ranting about how I much I dislike swift leather and telling my SA to never offer me one again.

*ETA: maybe my real unpopular opinion is that SLG from other makers are cuter ( fifth pic of travel shoehorn)
I too use a calvi but I'm not a big fan of it to be honest.
Personally, I'd like to purchase a mini Bearn wallet next time.
The other card holders seem too small for my liking!

Unpopular opinion: I‘ve received and rejected some very nice 25B and K offers this year, but I am more excited by recent RTW purchases. My local NY SA doesn’t mind; he thinks it’s a challenge. I am thrilled with three unworn pieces (my dry cleaner confirmed they’re unworn, so deadstock) from TRR (SA is super impressed too lol) and one recent boutique purchase (rendezvous fall 2023). JPG look 31, size 38, runway 2004 (stamped s for sample sale); JPG look 23, size 38, runway 2011; and, Nadege, look 24, size 42, runway 2018). The boutique piece, fall 2023, is the shearling jacket, tag provided. I posted size and other info in the RTW thread, post 3190, https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/hermes-rtw.920133/page-213

ETA: the one 2023 bag offer I accepted from my FSH SA, and the only one I’ve ever specifically asked for, as I don’t have a wish list, wasn’t a QB or particularly popular style or even size. A 31 Rainbow Bolide. It’s one of my favorite bags.

ETA: also, when I average out the prices in my head, the cost suddenly becomes a lot more reasonable lol. H RTW
prices have sky rocketed in the past few years. These recent pieces happen to be leather or mixed media, but I’m also thrilled with non leather deadstock

another unpopular opinion might be that I prefer birkenstocks to chypres, but that may be bc I cannot seem to find the
particular chypres I want in my size. . .

I do not quite get the appeal of the exotic Touch bags. In general, the handles are the more prominent exotic parts, yet many cover them up with twillies to protect the handles. On the Birkin, the flap that is in exotic skin can not be clearly seen when open.

Then, I think the juxtaposition of a shiny exotic skin and Epsom really brings out how plasticky Epsom looks. I do not find Epsom to look good with any exotic especially not on smaller bags. I think touch looks better on Togo. The vintage touch bags that put crocodile with box are more aesthetically pleasing as they both have mirror finishes.

Agree. And the prices are so high!

One of my Swift bag is green and the other is brown so it's nothing Ive noticed.

Please tell your SA to offer me all the Swift bags she was thinking of for you :D

I agree with everything you say, but there are some variations of Touch that I like the look of more than a full exotic skin. I especially like black with black - you can forget the Epsom though. It is a shame to cover the handle with a twilly, however, in the Winter (even Summer depending on the occasion) someone can always wear gloves if need be.

Basically - unpopular opinion, there's just too much Epsom around altogether. I think we covered this, but basically, there's not enough choice of leathers altogether

I am in Paris with my sister and niece and the three of us have been trying for leather appointments. For my sister. The first two days as geniuses we messed up the process. Now I got one for tomorrow. Then my sister declared she does not want to buy a new bag..... so i have to go, even though I don't either which is the unpopular opinion.... because, i am not crazy!

so tomorrow i ask for the impossible bag!
