My unpopular opinion # (insert exponent) is that shopping in Paris is even worse this summer. I'm waiting for Sèvres to slowly tip to one side from all the people waiting in the leather department, so few of whom are enjoying the petit h creations (my favorite part), the architecture, the bookstore, or any of the other things that make Hermès so interesting. FSH meanwhile needs mental health staff on call for the SAs given the tone I am too often hearing people use with them.
And I know I've said this before but for Pierre's sake please don't touch my bag! Would you grab a stranger's bag anywhere else in the world (assuming you are not a professional purse snatcher)?

Ha! I was in my Air France seat from Paris to Naples and a gentleman and Gorgeous women asked me where I got my B35 Gris Moette Verso. She said she got 3 appointments in Paris and 0 Birkins. I replied that ALL of my bags are from Beverly Hills. The man lives in West Hollywood! Lol! Don't waste time in Paris, jusT go to BH, it is SO much easier.

BtW, I did shop at Sevre and FSH and the SAs were beyond LOVELY. I give these SAs ALOT Of credit. I saw few people trying things, having complimentary coffee or champagne and leaving with nothing. Nonetheless, everyone was well mannered.

Truth! But I think it’s a lot different in the Asian markets - the prices are so much higher even than the US, and from what I read here, the prespend thing is actually a real part of buying a bag. (I never really shop in Asia because it would be financial madness for a Parisian. I feel guilty enough when I buy in the US! So I can only go by members’ reports.)

My unpopular (?) opinion is that purchasing from the preowned market makes the in-store experience more enjoyable, especially when it comes to the quota bag aspect.

I've been able to source bags and items that I truly love without the pressure of the boutique, pre-spend, competitive vibes, et. al., by purchasing on the preowned market.
(Qualifier: Having done so, I realize that it typically requires plenty of patience, grit, and a good dosage of detachment to when things fall through - which is something that plenty of consumers don't have the luxury of having the bandwidth or time to deal with.)

On the flip-side, when I go into the boutique, it's more so with an air of discovery and pleasure in seeing many items I didn't know were even produced, such as colorways of RTW and shoes that I enjoyed even more than anything I had seen online. I also feel that it's given me more opportunity to be a gracious client when I'm not fixated on spending with an ulterior motive of meeting QB prespend - rather, it is for the joy of being delighted by the brand itself.

Another unpopular opinion:

I find the term "pre-loved" a bit strange with a hint of cringe-y. I'm not too sure why; it's certainly a personal issue on my part - No issue with whether someone else chooses to use that term to refer to the secondhand market, but it just feels so strange coming out of my own mouth.

To me, it's in the same camp of unironically anthropomorphizing and naming a bag.
(Another qualifier: my HAC32 is named Tammy - Why?
Well, my youngest sister's best friend knew that I referred to one of my bags as... "Kelly."
So when I received my HAC 32, she told me (earnest as a child), "If your other bag is named Kelly, this one looks like it'd be named Tammy."
It was so honest and innocent that it touched my heart. The name has stayed ever since.)

I do, too. It's kind of like how I hate when RSVP cards say "accepts with pleasure" and "declines with regret." Like, maybe I'm gritting my teeth and coming to your wedding, or maybe I'm relieved I don't have to go? Same concept. Perhaps the bag wasn't so loved and that's why it's on sale.

If it took a prespend of 2:1 to get a bag, I could certainly see myself responding with "I gratefully accept with resentment."

Sèrves is beautiful!

Some people don’t understand/respect personal space and it’s weird. It’s like when people randomly try to touch your baby in the face! Ugh! Get away!

I purposely avoided FSH when we were there a couple of weeks ago as I didn't want to deal with the chaos. I went to Sevres a couple of times and was actually surprised at how not crowded it was at the time. I think maybe cause it was earlier in the day in the middle of the week. When we went back during a later time it was a bit busier but not as bad as I’ve seen it in the past. My daughter loved the petite H items.

In sum, I guess my unpopular opinion is that I don't get the swooning over FSH. Yes it's the mothership and all, but I don't like spending my time and energy with the crowds at these stores as nothing that is material is worth that aggravation for me. I'd just as soon shop with my home SA.

I agree. The atmosphere is like a busy bakery. It doesn’t feel all that special to me. I feel bad for the staff too.

This is a great excuse to blast my most unpopular opinion yet: the Toolbox is the BEST Hermès bag! I have a 20 and LOVE LOVE LOVE it! I can't speak to the 26 and 33, and in all fairness, can see the potential issues as mentioned above around the top sagging (have seen several online for sale used that exhibit this issue), but the 20 is a lovely bag to use! It has a nice big square opening making it easy to get items in and out and holds almost as much as a B30. I mean, yes, you do have to be ok with it's chunky shape, but it's so underrated. And with a nice liner (I use the extra-thick version of the Samorga), it holds it's shape quite nicely. That said, all of what I say is clearly an unpopular opinion, even for the 20 size..the value on the aftermarket tells the truth:-s

As an aside (and I hope this is OK mods): with regard to your issue with yours @raquelcc, I'd encourage you to take it to the spa and ask them to help...they have been super helpful with some of my bags correcting some sagging shapes with some work and advice. I don't have 26, but think it's at least worth a shot if you otherwise love the bag.
What leather is yours and is it heavy? People say the big strap is not comfortable . What is your personal opinion ?
