What’s your unpopular Hermes opinion?

I have a definite unpopular opinion and apologies in advance to anyone who likes what I happen to dislike as of course it’s all subjective taste.

Aside from the Birkin and Kelly I haven’t seen an Hermes bag with any kind of interesting design. The Constance is a basic flap bag with a big logo on it though at least you can tell it’s a designer bag. On the other hand the garden party and picotin to me look like basic bags I’d see in a mall or outlet. They don’t look expensive to me. I get the whole stealth wealth thing but I’m not going to pay that much for a simple tote that has no interesting design features to make it elegant. Bags I like are things like the LV Capucines, YSL Sac De Jour/Cassandra/Envelope, Prada Double, Lady Dior, Bulgari serpentine, celine belt bag etc.. a few of these are top handle totes and so I get Hermes creating something different but please make it look good!! The Garden Party has less interesting design than a bag from Coach or Tory Burch.

Given the budget and resources Hermes has I’m surprised they haven’t tried to design more iconic elegant expensive looking designs. It’s been decades since the Birkin and Kelly were launched and in all that time they haven’t been able to design something that is as timeless?
I miss the Trim bag (Jackie Kennedy) and the classy, sophisticated Drag bag.

I dont understand how crai, nata and similar colorways are so popular. I see a lot of these colors on the resale market. Buyers remorse?
might be because many people unaware of color transfer on light color bags? When I bought my first bag in white color(not Hermes), I was warned about possible color transfer. So I was really careful wearing it and still got a minor color transfer in a month or so, and my first thought was to resell it until it’s not gotten worse

For some reason I feel like H stores have ordered a surplus of these colors! I feel like i see them all over on display at the boutiques as well. (but personally I love them and will have a full neutral rainbow someday ...)

The resell market turned us all into perfectionists. Back in the days, a second hand bag is a second hand bag. Now, the value of it depends if it has an itty bity scratch, etc.
Even the accessories like dustbags, felt protector, air pillow (complete set etc ) gives the posting a higher value for reselling.

I gear towards darker pop of color or darker neutral coz visible marks or scratches bother me personally.

Exactly this… obsessing about imperfections will limit our enjoyment of a bag which is meant to be used, and naturally have wear and tear!

I don’t appreciate the idea that buying only one or maybe two bags a year be viewed as some sort of underachievement Hermes client-wise. Worlds gone crazy.
we need a ‘l only have 5 hermes bags and l am content for the rest of my life’ thread. (Wanted to say 3 bags but then l wouldn’t qualify! But really, l do think 3 high quality bags is optimal for a contented, minimalist life. 1 for work, 1 for play and 1 formal)

Let's do a 15 and under! Go with me on this, I live a very varied life ;)

My unpopular opinion is, so-called quota bags make very poor one-and-done purchases. I have no idea how anyone can only carry a K or B every day for the rest of their lives and be contented. I know there are people (good for them) I would go mad, I also would feel totally 'exposed' in most places these days.

Not a quota bag, but l carried a GP36 every work day for nearly a year, and was pretty content… until l got into TPF.. all those goodies shown here are just too tempting.
To be on topic, my unpopular opinion is the 2 quota bag limit a year is just right.

Certainly very unpopular:
Wonder:
- What about, if like all the "Hermès lovers" new and longterm - everyone could get a K or B - but EXCLUSIVELY with their own initials AND birth month (not the whole date or year) right next to the "Hermès made in ..." stamp. ... :coolio:

- What would happen to the reseller market, its prices and the popularity of K and B?
- How low do you think reseller prices of K and B for sale would fall? How many "real Hermès lovers" would be left?
