What’s your unpopular Hermes opinion?

My unpopular opinion is, so-called quota bags make very poor one-and-done purchases. I have no idea how anyone can only carry a K or B every day for the rest of their lives and be contented. I know there are people (good for them) I would go mad, I also would feel totally 'exposed' in most places these days.

I'm down for another capsule collection thread! Those are fun.

TBH I think I could survive on only Kellys in various sizes (if, say, hiking and camping were excepted). But it would be boring

Well maybe I'm weird but I'm pretty happy with my one H bag (although it is everything I ever wanted in one, once I finally found it!) and a mix of other high end and contemporary bags for other occasions.

Sure it would be nice to have a couple for other occasions, a crossbody and maybe a dressier one for evenings / special occasions, but it's not a big deal, maybe one day, maybe not.. I really don't get the need to chase down even two quota bags per year, let alone can I get my quota at home and then another one in Paris type questions!

Maybe it's just because I don't have that kind of disposable income, but I can't help wondering if it's more about the thrill of the chase?

I feel the same! admittedly disposable income is prob the main reason for me. But even if I got rich or famous overnight, I would get one more and that would be it. My vintage kelly + a birkin 35 in my dreams + other mid-range bags I already own feels fine.

It’s all about the acquisition- ie ‘I got TWO quota bags (don’t really care what they are, did not ask) from my home store, then my husband got TWO and of course the dogs have their own account and waiting for their SECOND quota bag. Meanwhile we tried Paris FSH AND Monaco ( why not?) I am getting a bit stressed because my pre spend is 6:1 in London and still waiting…’
Then of course there is the other type of competition’ ‘yesterday I turned down three mini Kelly’s. And two B25 - in FSH I know the plebs are fighting for appointments, but c’est la vie.. my relationship is so much better than yours.’

I have somehow managed to avoid having more than one bag from any one brand (lies--I have two from Prada, but they're drastically different). At this point in my life, I can't imagine having multiple of the same bag. But I can see maybe someday having a few H bags, just not a few of the same H bag.

- What about, if like all the "Hermès lovers" new and longterm - everyone could get a K or B - but EXCLUSIVELY with their own initials AND birth month (not the whole date or year) right next to the "Hermès made in ..." stamp. ...

- What would happen to the reseller market, its prices and the popularity of K and B?
- How low do you think reseller prices of K and B for sale would fall? How many "real Hermès lovers" would be left?

I would actually love this. It would feel very special.

Let's not even mention the bag offers thread where it's all "here are the six coveted bags I turned down during my lunch break"....meanwhile some of the specs listed literally do not exist

Also, someone soon is going to ask in the Paris thread if their dog can apply for a lottery appointment. This is merely a matter of time.

I would love it if these were called out! Kind of like when posters call out the resellers who post bag after SLG after bag score, all in a short period of time from the website. Not sure those are unpopular opinions, at least not with the honest types, but…

Here's an unpopular or maybe not so unpopular opinion: no posting your online cart screenshot at all. Tell us how excited you are that you got a bag, or show us the ACTUAL BAG YOU BOUGHT when it arrives. But don't show us that you bought multiple bags from the website and then never show up with a mod shot featuring ANY of them

Ahhhh... reminds me of the resellers pretending not to be a reseller! Hey, it's all good if one feels like making their money that way, just don't pollute our beloved Tpf with your not so subtle advertising of H resale bags.

I do actually think that SOs should be monogrammed at acceptance. They should not be resellable. It is not cool how many brand new HSSs are on resale shelves.

I guarantee there would be a sudden decline in craie x (pink or grey) Epsom with (rose) gold hardware special order mini bags being ordered.

My unpopular opinion is why make a special order that can be found in every resale site. Now, if those are your favorite color combinations, go ahead! A special order is a personal choice and expression, so I can’t judge. I am sure most would not like my special orders.

Another (hopefully not so) unpopular opinion is why do people (especially social media influencers) take pictures with their used shoes on clothes. Please don’t put your Oran sandals that have blackened soles on your shirt or scarf of the day!

Agreed with SOs! It always bugs me to see any brand-new bag up for resale, SO or otherwise.
