I will leave this reminder as a sticky because tthis is often a thread that new members (or new Hermès lovers) post on - hopefully temporarily.

I sometimes think it's better to just enjoy the city rather than stand for hours to save some money on a bag.
Totally agree. Most bags are available online in the USA. Going to Paris for a non-coveted bag is saving money. But time is money, especially considering airfare, hotel cost and necessary spending in Paris. Visiting the store and waiting in line is opportunity cost.
The time could have been spent touring new attractions in Paris. I wouldn't wait in that long line again, and definitely not more than once or having young kids to go through the torture. There is really nothing interesting for the kids to do inside the store, other than a piece of white paper and a few crayons as a way for the store to 'shut them up.'

I mean I like the coveted bags and their craftsmanship but the company culture drives me nut. It's like just because you think a celebrity is beautiful and desirable doesn't mean you have to kiss her toes or worship her.

I agree!! my baby was getting antsy when I went in april. He was just 5 months old. I hear of people getting pulled out of the line because they have young children, and I still had to queue. My boyfriend was with the baby sitting on a seat and NOBODY approached him to ask if he needed assistance.

I go with the baby again and I am not going to be wasting my time this time.. I will go, but if I have to wait a ridiculous amount of time I might just leave. Though I never really know what might happen once I'm lured in!!

We are flying for business and paying business class tickets out of our own pockets so we better not waste our time. After all, I'm not saving that much for a B (tickets cost more). It's fun to hunt, but I won't be crushed if I don't get one, and I certainly won't go more than once

There are definitely things about Hermes customer service that I could fault, but providing childcare or amusements for children really isn't one of them. It's fairly well known that as the flagship, it's a very busy store and people might be required to queue for long periods of time. Perhaps it's not the best environment for young children?

I was not expecting Hermes to provide any entertainment for my child. However I did hear of other moms getting pulled out of the line and getting faster service only after I had queued for such a long time, so I don't see what was different in my case to not have been served the same way.

I also was not allowed to buy more than one evelyne, and I did not know H rules. I then heard you could buy up to 3 bags. My SA lied to me in the face, saying I could not buy a bag for another 6 months.

Bad service is one thing. I don't expect to be served first because I went with a baby. But being lied to is NOT ok IMHO

Is the Lindy more readily available at FSH? What much is it in Paris?:smile1:

I'm going to try to get back in topic. Yes, I think Lindys like all the bags are more numerous at fsh. They seem to be third most popular after Birkins and Kelly's, so still a bit of a challenge to obtain. I don't know the price but you can google and find it very easily,

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us Hanna.. You had both a good and a bad experience, and it's just so much harder because you did manage to get a B earlier this year.

Some SA really do suck the joy out of the hunt!!! My SA was so mean (I'm asian and so was she). She told me no b or k and I wanted a leather GP to which she also said no. To evelyne She only showed me toile and when I decided I wanted to check out the bambou in stock she brought out two evelynes that were not bright at all.... I was wearing my RT evelyne and looking at bambou, how did she decide I wanted a dark navy blue? Totally beyond me.

anyway.. she then said I could only buy ONE bag. I then asked her if everyone here is the same and she starts telling me the richest people in the WORLD come shop here and it's the same rule for everyone. I'm sorry... Oye.

sorry for my little rant here. So then she said 6 months.. I asked her I'm going early september which is right before 6 months rule and she said she would make an exception. Reallly? :D I just found out you can actually buy 3 bags per each visit!!! So mean of her.

anyway!! I will be back in two weeks and I'm starting to get really nervous. It will be right after the craftsmen come back and I really hope I get offered a B/K this time.

I hate that she automatically thought I looked like a reseller.. my man isn't asian. She totally ruined my first FSH experience and now I'm so scared that I'm thinking of sending my non asian man to get me whatever is on my wishlist.. .as she decided she would not let me purchase anything!! So sad.
Sorry to hear about your experience. Unfortunately, sometimes you do get that one horribly unpleasant SA, who spoils your enjoyment of shopping. Especially since you weren't even trying for a B or K.

May I suggest that if you want to buy something other than B or K you try the other two locations? Sevres was especially lovely and they do have petit H and in doors cafe :smile1:

Thanks! What's even more ironic is that I was not born in Asia and never lived there. So she is judging me by race but not by my passport... And I'm not American either. I'm South American. Most people here cannot afford H. Why would I even try to resell? I can't even resell my old coach bags lol.

anyway back go topic, I got excellent service at the airport and while they did not have any leather GP they did have another evelyne for me and I also got two scarves. Sadly the evelyne purchased was full price with no vat discount because I was traveling within Europe on that occasion. She also did mention they get restocked everyday. Of course no B or K but they have a nice selection

I could have saved €200 if the SA had "let" me buy another bag. That's the part I find degrading.

Has anyone seen Lindy or toolbox in the Paris stores? I would like to buy that when I go in a few weeks.

Also, I think it was a holiday yesterday so the stores were closed?

Reporting back for my friend. She went 2 more times to FSH and was turned down again. She's leaving tomorrow morning and she's D.O.N.E with the whole Hermes/FSH standing in line for hours to play a game experience. She's really bummed of course and it has left a bad taste in her mouth about the brand in general. I am sad for her...

I hope everyone has better luck in September! So far I am still not seeing any reports on this thread of people getting bags in August and we are in the middle of the month already.

I was at FSH the first week of August, though they didnt have the size Kelly I was looking for (so got another bag) I did see another lady offered a beautiful etoupe Kelly when I was about to leave...So really a matter of luck getting something offered yes, but they do have stock...

At the begin of August George V had a lovely small sized light Blue toolbox on display

I saw two Lindys on display at the George V store back in July, one of which was a bi-color (Gris T + orange).

Thanks! The reason I would be heading to FSH is because it would be the nearest outlet to my hotel. I'm hoping to go early (since its only 1 minute walk fro my hotel) because I don't wish to spend hours of my holiday queuing. My memories of Paris should be more than that.:roflmfao:

I have more or less given up hope on a B, and refuse to buy from a re-seller because I do think the price of a B warrants good in-store customer service as well. So I'd thought I will settle for a Lindy.

I am new to Hermes and I do like some of the designs of the bags. But to queue up 2 hours in the cold winter to get into the store? To repeat my visit the next day and try to convince the sale personnel to sell the bag to me?

Oh pls.. I'm paying and I work hard for my money, so she should do the convincing.:p

I like your attitude. But just to clarify one thing, you don't need to queue to enter the store. You only queue in the leather department to inquire about bags and other leather items. Good luck with the Lindy!
