Hello everyone, thanks for all the useful info I've gathered reading this thread and others on the forum. I'm considering arranging a trip to Paris to purchase a Hermes bag for my wife's 40th birthday present and would like some feedback if it's a silly idea that will surely end in failure (but possibly a great time). Aside from rough probability of success in Paris stores or other around France/Europe, when would be the best time to go? I read that fashion weeks are a no-go but it's not very clear which weeks in winter/spring does that exclude. If we don't go in the next couple of months, it will likely have to wait for 10-12 months. Thank you!

A trip to Paris is always a glorious was to celebrate your wife's 40th birthday but one has to
be realistic about acquiring a bag.
There are people who have no profile with H & will walk in & get a bag while others who do won't be able to
get the bag of their dreams. It just comes down to the luck of the draw. You could walk into
H & magic could happen!
By the way, Paris Couture dates are Jan 22nd thru Jan 25th & June 24th thru June 27th ,2024
Ready to wear collection dates are February 26th thru Mar 5th & September 23rd thru Oct 1st, 2024
There usually is inventory during those times, but no guarantees & also the Olympics
are being held in Paris, so take into consideration your timing of your trip & if you do go to
Paris, enjoy the celebration! JMO

Agree with this @husbandhere . I also would not go during summer months, and particularly during the Olympics. JMO though

I DEFINITELY would not come during the Olympics unless you get tickets and it's part of your celebration. The city is going to be nuts and not as romantic as other times (IMO).

Paris is always a good idea (that is why I live here ;) ) but I would not plan a trip around an Hermès bag. Consider it a fun thing to try for, but enjoy the city, the sights/food/shopping/history.

Hello everyone, I am writing to share my second Hermes miracle. I arrived to Paris today for a mini break before the madness of Christmas. Hermes was absolutely crazy and I honestly feel bad for the leather desk specialists as there were many people requesting for an appointment. I met a very very lovely gentleman who said to me to come back later, which I did. When I returned late in the afternoon, he was not on the desk, my heart sunk. I explained to the lady what the gentleman told me and I was told to wait for 10 minutes. However in between this time that I took a walk around the store, another man approached me to say that he definetly couldn’t help me today as it was full. I was heartbroken so I left and went back to my hotel for a coffee. A decided to pop back just before close at 18:30pm to get a ring that was in my wish list as a consolation prize. I then bumped into the gentleman that I had met earlier and he helped me get an appointment. The sales associate I met was a true gentleman and truly felt lucky to meet him. I told him I was interested in a mini evelyne and after sharing the colours asked if maybe my dream colour would be in a Picotin 18. The sales associate left and returned with two evelyne bags and one Picotin to choose from. He opened the Picotin bag first and I couldn’t believe my eyes that it was my dream lucky daisy in Mauve Sylvestere. I didn’t even mention this Bag as I had actually thought it was impossible to get. I truly truly couldn’t believe my luck and I believe in Hermes luck, patience and miracles. The right bag will always come in the right moment. The best day ever. (Thank you for reading my story :) )

Sharing my experience, first time in Europe, first time in Paris, first time in Hermès as well.

My husband and I traveled to Paris last week for a short weekend trip. Appointment requests continued to be unsuccessful and my husband didn't even receive any email confirmation. We went to FSH on Saturday but it was so crowded with barely any room to walk. We were assigned an overflow associate who I assume wasn't a full time employee. She was super pleasant though and said she was there for December to help. We eventually left as things were so crazy (heavy rains as well) and we didn't think we could build a relationship with an SA.

On Sunday afternoon, we went to the Sevres and it was much less crowded. I walked around for 15 minutes and finally reached out to an SA to help. She was very upbeat and all of us had fun picking items and talking about our travels. I got a pair of gloves, a belt, and a scarf. My husband asked about appointment cancellations and she said unfortunately all we could do is ask at the leather desk for cancellations.

By now it was an hour before closing. They had a calligraphy artist making beautiful tags for presents, so I was getting one when my husband went over to the desk. In a few minutes, they called me over and an SA came over asking about my bag wishlist!

My dream bag is a bolide so I asked for one no bigger than a 27 in a neutral color. I was offered a Bolide 25 in Orange and pink and I picked the Orange! The color wasn't my original choice, but it looked so good without popping too much that I couldn't say no 😊 My husband had also mentioned to our original SA that he loved that color, so I think that's why they offered it.

My purchase history in the US is only a couple of scarves so I was surprised we were able to get an appointment. Overall, had an amazing experience and will definitely be returning the next time we travel to Paris ❤️

Thanks! He was amazing and honestly, the reason we were able to get an appointment IMO. He said he told them about how excited I was, and that I wanted a Picotin (the only bag he knows by name lol). I'm glad they were able to get me a bolide.

We have some more words to teach your husband ;) "Kelly" and "Birkin" are good ones! Although, honestly, the Bolide is probably my favorite bag, goes everywhere and is so chic and classic <3 Congrats!!!!
