I will leave this reminder as a sticky because tthis is often a thread that new members (or new Hermès lovers) post on - hopefully temporarily.

Also is it just me or FSH is the best store to get offer B/K? Never heard of Sevres or George V. Any reason why?
I've always heard that FSH is the best store for the offer for obvious reasons, and rightfully so. It is the flagship store and the largest in Paris. I received my Kelly 25 at George V after 4PM appointment (late in the day) which is supposed to be the store with least stock for B/K. I'm sure FSH may have greater stock hence the greater chance of scoring B/K at leather appt, but doesn't mean it's not possible at other locations as well.

Hi everyone! Possibly an extremely naive question on creating a profile for Paris shopping. I do have a profile with my home store, do I need to create a separate one for H France? Do I just go on H France and create an account there? Is this account supposed to be on a different email or can I use the same email/address etc on a profile from my home store?

Lastly, is there any benefit in creating a profile before visiting the store?

If you have an excellent relationship with your home store, they are sometimes able to schedule a one time appt for you in Paris. I have not done this, but I know it is possible. I shop DH’s account in all Hermes boutiques worldwide (I do not have another acct in my name or any other name and DH uses the same contact info for all accounts). It’s debatable how much accounts are linked. It’s never made any difference with my offers. But, we’ve established accts by simply shopping at a new boutique when I am at that city. I don’t necessarily see the point in creating a Paris on line profile before setting foot in the store. JMO

Thanks for sharing!

Yesss it was last year. I took the retourne in menthe as it was my first choice.
I asked for sellier this year in new bleu jean and got a K28
Amazing congratulations! Is the menthe retourne you took in swift leather? If so how do you find keeping it in good condition? I was offered a k25 retourne in vert fizz recently (in Paris) which I declined as I was worried about keeping it in good condition as the spa apparently cannot buff out scratches/marks in swift leather.

Btw guys I will be posting about my recent experience in Paris, soon. - it’s a good one!!!

First: congratulations on your good experience in Paris. Especially at that time of year it must have been extra special.:flowers:

Though referring to the bolded part ref. Swift: Lol, surprisingly I received the opposite information from my SA and a craftsperson (because I was sceptical, too) - they recommended swift leather for a light coloured bag due to its potential for better refurbishment vs. grained / embossed leathers. Though still a bit insecure and undecided I had asked here on tpf, too, for experiences made by our dear expert members. Maybe you might want to check the "Ode to swift" thread here for more shared experiences. It might help you deciding.

I guess we need more information:

Have you ever shopped at Hermes before?
Have any purchase history in Paris?
What were you wearing?
How was your demeanor?
Did you greet the leather desk mgr. appropriately? Did you greet the SA appropriately?
Did you attempt to speak any French?
Did you just generically ask for "a Kelly" (which could come across as "desperate" or "reseller")--or did you specify a color/leather/size (displaying your knowledge of the brand)?

In addition to the great reasons offered by others above, some of it could've come down to how the SA "sized you up"---as unfortunate as it may seem.
I think most of these points are irrelevant.
and a professional SA as one would hope anyone employed by Hermes in their flagship would be should not and would not make assumptions based on what one is wearing..some of the wealthiest individuals are extremely low key whilst shopping especially in Major Cities.

Never said any of the points were ethical or moral. But the reality is that they do exist, whether we want to believe it or not, or agree with it or not.

Hermès is not a "halo" organization or magically exempt from having bad apples (as evidenced in hundreds of pages of this very thread). The SAs are merely human, and even though they "shouldn't" make assumptions, they do. It's human nature.

Of course both sides of this debate are all based on conjecture...as none of us TRULY know the methods to the madness; unless we have at some point had Hermès sign our paychecks...haha.

So we can get back to topic now.

Agree with this. As I posted above, had these factors been weighed, I never would have gotten any bags at all. I also believe that the bags for lottery; for walk ins; for VIP or high net worth individuals are all from different pools, and an SA might even know before she speaks to an appointment holder, what is, or is not available for that person.

I think availability may have less to do with the appointment holder and more t9 do with how many bags has that SA been allotted or given out before your appt. . . Etc. I am fortunate in that I am able to make an appt with my FSH SA. But she asks that I make my appointment request as soon as I know my travel dates; and, it’s my suspicion that she ‘budgets’ her allotment to account for the possibility of offering me something. My experience is different than others on this thread, but it does suggest there are limits placed on the SAs that we may know little about.

I don’t personally look at SAs as good or bad apples. And, I would not dream of making a judgment call as to ethics or morality. It’s shopping. Mine have all told me the same thing, that they are constrained and cannot help everyone who wants some variation of the same popular item. They have a difficult job; they are required to follow company policy; and customers often take out their disappointment on SAs.

ETA: when I was first out of university, I made a modest living as a fine artist and I had a day job at a very upscale boutique. The first thing you are taught is that billionaires can come in wearing ratty clothes and flip flops. They can literally look like day laborers down on their luck. How one is dressed is not a defining criteria for any SA. It’s perhaps possible that a prospective customer is more confident and at ease dressed a certain way, and a certain manner can communicate nonverbal signals to an SA, but that’s actually a different thing altogether. JMO based on my own limited personal experience and conversations with various SAs including my own at FSH.

Totally agree. There are so many factors and also the limitations of a SA to help all the clients coming in. They can't help anyone with a B/K/C. Remember it's also how the brand has position itselfs: Exclusivity. They just know how it works. The harder is to get the more people want it. Sure they'll not get everyone with this strategy but that's not their aim.

Then there is also the favorable factor and first impressions. These factors are imo the hardest and most difficult factors to deal with. Not saying a SA will judge you on your skincolor, religion or whatsoever. If the SA has a instant disliking or no connection: You can be dressed like a queen or a wanderer but it will be hard to overcome these first impressions. For Paris I would advise: just be genuine and polite. Don't act like they're superstars and don't be one yourself.

Report from Paris: not as busy as we’d expected, saw a number of people queuing and asking for appts/cancellations and they were all given the card with the QR code to apply on the usual lottery site (so basically, “no sorry”). Our SAs said they’re working through the whole December (not taking any time off except the public holidays when the store is closed) as this is the busiest time of the year.

No drama overheard or witnessed, sorry! Beautiful paper Xmas decorations and photo corners though!
