How fun! I’d say be prepared for one or none to get an appointment and possibly a bag. If both of you get an appointment and a bag I’d say go play the lotto quickly! Also, the appointment will determine who get the bag. Whomever get the appointment will have to show the matching passport at checkout. It’s not a matter of having only one bag to offer you; it’s a matter of if they decide to offer either or you a bag.

I’d go in the store everyday and try to ask for cancellations in addition to applying for an appointment. Manage your expectations and know that an appointment does not automatically mean that you will get a bag!

I think both you and your friend should read the last, at least, 20 pages of this thread so you can both get an idea of what you are getting into. You and your friend would be fine. I know if it were me and my best friend got a bag and I didn’t I’d still be EQUALLY happy for her just as if it were me and her the same for me. It’s a bag for heavens sake. All of that other stuff is for kids, not adults that know how to communicate.

Totally agree with this! I went with my friend recently and neither of us ever got lucky with an appt for several days. Good luck!

Couldn’t agree with this more. Unless you guys have openly discussed and agreed on strategy/outcomes for if you both try to work with the same or different SAs etc., it’s best to just leave it to the H gods and go the separate appointment route to see who may luck out. (Especially if you want the same bags.) Hermes definitely makes people do crazy things, so talk to each other openly!

We know it is a long shot to get even one bag and we will be equally happy for whoever does get a bag. We will prepare to be disappointed from Hermes but that’s not going to stop us from enjoying our vacation together. If we’re not lucky enough to get anything, then we’ll try again next time.☺️

This is such a good attitude to have! There’s so much other shopping, food and things to do in Paris! I’m wishing you both the best!

Just curious what do you two specially have on your list?

This is the approach we took as well and though it would have been a cherry on top to be offered a dream quota bag, we had such an amazing time in Paris! We ate well and did some other great shopping and are already hoping for another trip! Enjoy your time there!! So excited for you!

I hope your friendship is deeper than a handbag made from dead animals' hide & that the both of you are 100% aligned on this cos otherwise neither of you will enjoy your holiday! This is the exact reason my local SA isn't keen to take customer referrals from me, because of the dilemma of who to offer if ceterus paribus.

I echo everyone else, please apply for separate lotteries/appointments and good luck!

When applying for the lottery, whoever gets the appointment should get the bag(if one is offered). If you both plan on shopping, work with different SAs. If they miraculously are able to offer a leather appointment it would likely be just one. And again. whoever is offered the appointment, should get the bag(if one is offered). If you're going to go to the leather desk to ask for an appointment, go separately. Applying the same, whoever gets the appointment, gets the bag(if offered). Get luck and have fun!

— Interrupting discussion NON leather comment —
I visited Hermes (st honore) and was met with and greeted by lovely SAs throughout entire store. I was in search of a black scarf and was helped by one of the nicest SAs I have ever encountered of any luxury brand (excluding my home store SA ofcourse ). This lady went beyond friendliness and helpfulness to help me select a cashmere scarf. We laughed, she helped me try on scarves in different ways, just a perfect shopping experience.
Other SAs throughout the store were also very helpful - and I was only window shopping and taking pics for my local SA (eta- for my SA to curate for me)

Ok, back to leather… good luck to all and enjoy your experience.

Everyone who posts here is so lovely, sane, and thoughtful. I have an odd curiosity about the people who are making the Paris SAs lives so difficult...who are these folks, why do they want an iconic bag, why are they willing to cause a scene in a store?

I picked a bag up from spa the other day (here in Paris) and it came back in a big orange box. My DH innocently wanted to open the box right there on the floor to see the bag, and I said "absolutely not, you won't believe what will happen". One of my SAs heard that, turned utterly pale, and said "Oh no no no please don't do that. I can't even let the label on this box be seen."
Then we both had to explain to DH the chaos that would ensue if a Birkin or Kelly box was opened out in the open! The SA had some horror stories! Apparently there would always be at least one person who would go as high as they could to management and corporate to ask why we had a bag and they didn't, and always several people who would rush the box. :wtf: (And this isn't me getting a bag offer! I bought this bag eight months ago in a completely different store.)
I snuck out of H with my box like a criminal :lol:
