I will leave this reminder as a sticky because tthis is often a thread that new members (or new Hermès lovers) post on - hopefully temporarily.

No not the same thing at all and this is very key to understand. Asking directly is pushy and rude as she has already indicated that she cannot book an appointment. North American's are often viewed as rude, pushy and lacking in any social graces. Knowing when you are being impolite is quite key to success in Paris. There are cultural differences.

This approach is indirect and lets the SA know that you are interested but you have not asked her to intercede but provide advice. You deliver the same message but in a different way. The difference is indirect and subtle the other is direct and rude which gets you no where in Paris.
Okay.

Thanks for sharing! From my experience I have had a FSH SA working in the Women's shoes and belt department (who helped me with buying belts and shoes) share her card with me. However, she said she only works in those departments so I assume she doesn't help with leather appointments. Before my next visit, do you think it is worth sending her an email to ask if she might be able to assist with a bag appointment? I am not sure if this is a good approach!
I wouldn’t reference a request for leather over email or text, (too easy to shoot down, and I doubt she would respond in writing re a leather appt except in the negative) but that’s just me. But, unlike many here, I dont really plan what I buy, I just make an appt and see if I love whats there (I’m a RTW client) I do make my appt months in advance, when I make travel arrangements. JMO though

I totally agree about asking for appoint via e-mail. But if you feel like you must try then this is the strategy I would take. I would also agree about planning when it comes to RTW because I don't want an SA to do the work to find/hold something that I may not buy. With RTW fit is so crucial! Until you try it on you don't know if you will actually buy it.

I too would make an appointment months in advance if I could. Sadly I have not had that option recently. I did meet a lovely SA a Sevres on my last visit who gave me her contact and she told me she would be happy to help with anything that I needed on my next visit. I will have to wait and see how that pans out on my next visit.

Congrats! Was this at FSH?
yes! it was at FSH! i literally went up to her 5 mins prior to ask if there’s any cancellations and she said it’s full today. so i feel it really depends on the connection. She told my husband this which i found it interesting “we know it’s extremely hard to get an appointment, we try to help with the people we have a connection with.”
in terms of building relationship, as they are fully segregating the responsibility of the departments, people other than leather are more open to give whatsapp where as the leather person is a hard no even though you know she likes you and even with the lady who adored my husband and gave him a spot within a few seconds. Not sure, would love to know if anyone who were or weren’t able to get contact from leather SA!

Yes I hate that they judge and screen you in order to see if you made the cut for an appt. I got a walk-in at FSH too so made it passed the leather desk associate but the SA I was assigned to wasn’t feeling it and didn’t make me an offer. She was quite short with me and rushed through the appt. Also asked her for her business card but she said she couldn’t for privacy reasons. Obviously there was no connection, so that’s why she didn’t give it to me, but that’s fine. I ended up getting a B30 at the Sevres store so her loss is another SA’s gain!

I was successful over email. Wife gotten a b25 and Constance for that appointment. But it only happened once as a special exception.

Congrats! JMO in response to OP whose shoe and belts SA had already told her on a prior trip that she could not help with other departments.

I would love to hear as well. I always thought you could only get 1 quota bag per appt. It would be so nice to get both a birkin and a constance. Does anyone know whether a constance is considered a quota bag in Paris? Txs!
A Constance is not a quota bag in Paris (or in some other places).

Of course, that doesn't mean someone might be told something different or not be offered a Constance along with a Birkin.

I can confirm from my SA that Constances are not considered "quota" bags. I was just in Paris last week. You are correct that ideally it is only one "quota" bag per appointment/ visit/ account but this is just the general rule. "Quota" in Paris means Birkin and any of the Kelly family.

I guess they must’ve changed the policy or as someone suggested, pick and choose who they tell certain information. I was in Paris in April and all 3 stores told me the Constance was a quota bag. Perhaps they might’ve changed since then but like everything else with Hermes, there are no set rules.
