When applying for the lottery, for someone like me who will have a SIM card for my phone, do you enter in that local number or your regular US number? I wasn’t sure if they text you with updates directly or through What’s App if you are successful in getting an appointment. Also, would you select just one store or all 3? Keeping fingers crossed…heading there next week.

I can only reply based on my experience. My husband got me the appointment by selecting FSH as the preferred store. He was notified by email that he got the appointment. When we were at FSH for the appointment, he received texts on his phone on updates when the SA was ready. So make sure the email and phone # you are using are accessible. Hope that helps.

Hello,
I will be in Paris next week for about a week. I am willing to play the Hermes lottery to get a bag, but I'd love to hear if any of the TPF'ers have had RECENT success in getting a B/K offer when they had a leather appointment?

Thank you!
Maya

I was there last week for 4 days. We had no luck with the lottery and one day didnt even get the confirmation email. I did however got to FSH on 2 separate days and bought a wallet the first day and a jewelry box on the 2nd. The SLG advisor was kind enough to check for us if there were any cancellations (there weren't) and the other advisor though very nice said she couldn't even ask because they would turn her down and therefore us. On the 3rd day we passed George V and ran in and were greeted so nicely when my husband asked if there were any appointments available (probably around 4:30 and after it rained) and the greeter said "this is actually the perfect time, it is quiet." We were shocked :) we were introduced to a leather advisor and the rest is Birkin history. Keeping my ears open while we waited during the searching process- everyone else who came in and asked for an appointment got turned down. I guess we just walked in at the right time. Lastly, let me just say- everything that everyone has said about the 'appointment' and the process and the excitement is all true! Learn and do your research here, it will definitely prepare you. Good luck!!!

For those that visited Paris with timed attraction tickets, do you just come to Paris with the expectation if you get h appointment, you will drop everything?
If you already have plan to visit say Versailles, do you then not apply for appointment for that day or still apply?
How early/late can you be for that miracle appointment?

When I went in late November I bought tickets the day of (went to attractions based on the weather lol). Only timed one I bought was for Louvre. I applied for H every day regardless. I had no luck with any appointment but if I did get one, I would have skipped Louvre for it haha. Good luck, hope you have a lucky story to share!

This is a terrible thing to say, but a regular visit to Versailles is usually so packed with tourists, that it’s hard to see anything. The gardens are nice, but you can do that anytime. We did a private tour of the royal apt ( where Louis xVI commissioned the first lockable roll top desk in the world and there is a black and white bathroom that Marie Antoinette used), but, yes, i would take an H appt over Versailles. (But DH and I really like to shop). I would not skip, for example, lunch at Guy Savoy, but everyone has different priorities

I would still apply every day. We had things scheduled almost every day that we were there and never cancelled any. If we were to get an appointment then I would’ve been willing to skip whatever we had planned. I also wanted to be able to enjoy the city and not be mad that I missed out for a potential appointment. Continue on with your plans. You will be able to decide whether or not it’s something you are willing to give up but you don’t want to risk the tour selling out either! I was even willing to change our flight back if I had to

If there's a tour/attraction you really don't want to miss, you could try to schedule it for a Sunday when Hermes is closed. :flowers:

I'm right there with you on Guy Savoy, @880! DH and I recently had an amazing dinner there with amazing service and food, and I'm not sure I would've skipped it for an H appt! Actually... who am I kidding, it's very possible I might have!!

Last Oct we've bought returned 1st class train tickets to another French city for a day trip but on the previous night I received a text that I've scored a leather appointment. So we decided to forgo that day trip because we felt that we can always visit that city on another time or another trip. However, we may never be able to score a H leather lottery ever again.

I guess it also depends on how many people you are visiting Paris with. If you are with your family + Kids, it may be hard to decide. If it is just with your spouse or just yourself, the number of stakeholders is less, it's easier to drop everything.

TBH the experience of an H lottery appointment, elbowing a H crowd on the way to the leather appt podium, and say you have an appt just for the chance of a bag is like a wet dream that Versailles can't compare
