I will leave this reminder as a sticky because tthis is often a thread that new members (or new Hermès lovers) post on - hopefully temporarily.

I’m not a fan of it either. When it was launched, it was readily available in the online store in my country. It’s more of a casual bag.
It's a fair game when it comes to personal preference. How rare or accessible a bag is doesn't mean it's good or bad. You said it was readily available online in your country at launch, guess it's no longer the case now is it? Just because a bag leans to a casual style doesn't make it less functional though, or am I missing something?

Personally I'd feel ashamed of myself if I sat it out for two hours in a store..any store..complaining because I couldn't get what I'd hoped to buy.
On a day in Paris there is more to do than sit in a shop behaving like a spoilt child.
I find it embarrassingly undignified the way grown women behave in Hermes over getting a handbag.
Because much as we love them and some obsess over them they are just handbags.

As i have mentioned my friend have spent two hours waiting for her appointment not waiting for a bag offered, the SA took her request and brought her bags that didn't suit her style or was not interested in. I understand that this is how hermes is and you have to wait but if you wait two hours past your appointment and this appointment was arranged months in advance at least offered me one thing from my wishlist, she gave them a huge wishlist not just a kelly mini. The kelly danse was not exotic and was an apology for the long wait.

I so agree. Undignified is the word. This is supposed to be a luxury experience, the way some people behave makes that store quite a tedious place to be. I would advise avoiding it, but there are just too many pretty things to look at in there.
If you're not shopping for a bag with an appointment, I'd suggest the Sèvres store, it has a more serene atmosphere (even though similar scenes can be witnessed) and is well stocked (and if they didn't have something they can always check elsewhere to save you the trip).

I’m not sure how your appt was coordinated. But for my appt arranged one month in advance, I didn’t have to wait. Your earlier post made your friend sound obnoxious but it’s a different scenario now that you mention she had to wait 2 hours to see the sa for an prearranged appt. I guess there was some miscommunication somewhere.
Then again if SAs are rude( I haven’t really met one for the past 10 years, only unfriendly or unhelpful ones), we don’t need to behave just like them.
I guess the natural expectation for an advance appointment would be there would definitely be offers (assumption of being a VIP). Who knows maybe they are really out of stock. I do know for sure, they won’t line up a list of bags to standby for such appointments unless it’s explicitly stated during the arrangement that you are looking for a specific bag. Still there’s no guarantee either as there’s too many customers

+1 The appointment was arranged by a friend of a friend… I’m even surprised the SA made this favor and took the appointment.
As this friend didn’t know the SA why should she be treated differently than other customers who also got an appointment through the online s system?
This customer was specific about what she wanted and mini kelly are very rare. Also not sure if you can purchase an exotic bag without a manager’s approval

Hi all. Planning to visit Paris next week. Wondering if we should show our passport or a copy is fine to show at cashier for a tax refund? I heard so many stories about robberies and thinking not to bring it around with me. Thanks!

Re your original post :

friend of mine had an appointment arranged through a friend of a friend and booked a weekend trip just to score a bag, this was two weeks ago. She said she was offered all type of bags but no birkin or kelly, she was very annoyed as she wanted a mini kelly in croc and they said this is impossible. After waiting for more than 2 hours the SA said said that she will speak to the manager and see if they could do something to make her happy, she was then offered a kelly danse. (my emohasis added)

Based on above, I mainly have an issue with her extreme annoyance and expectation that she should get anything, let alone the top item, on her imaginary wish list. Her expectation was also based on an appt she ‘scored’ through the good will of another, so not even on her own strength of connection (I believe @kittynui also made this point) I have also been the fortunate recipient of a prearranged appointment, and in the appt confirmation, you are specifically warned that you are not guaranteed the bag of your choice.

i honestly wish the kelly Danse had gone to someone who would have been appreciative of it on its own merits and not as a consolation prize or simply due to rarity. Perhaps your friend is normally kind and generous in other respects, but this anecdote, even with your subsequent explanation, does her no favors.

Another thing is i have been shopping at hermes since 2015 and have encountered so many rude SA’s, People will always forgive them because its hermes and thats how they function they have an attitude, but if a customer was rude or requested something just above what they are offered people will attack and say they have no right to do so.

I personally refuse to shop anywhere with a rude SA, without exception. I also don’t believe that a client should be rude either.
An SA saying that a top coveted bag is not available while offering many others is not exactly the definition of rude. The last time an SA/SM was actively, blazing rude to me was when I was shopping for my first suit out of college. The SA clearly assumed that I was too young and poor to shop there. I am also not Caucasian but an olive skinned Asian. It was 1989, and a boutique called Suzanne on Newbury St. I went to Guy LaRoche a few blocks away and bought two suits there. I subsequently became a regular client at Alan Bilzarian.

I’ve been buying the bulk of my own premier luxury RTW and bags since 1996, a chanel RTW client since 2001, and wearing the stuff since at least 1985 (from high school and family purchases). I try to be polite, bc shopping is supposed to be fun. I started shopping H boutique in 2008. I stopped when my SA left in 2012, simply bc it wasn’t the same. I only started back in 2020 when I personally clicked with a friend’s referral. My current SA even knew my old one.

This past February 14, i also had an appt arranged far in advance at FSH. DH and I waited a long time in a little alcove; they forgot where they put us; and, they didn’t offer us espresso and cookies, like other waiting clients. For the FSH appt, it was late, and we waited long enough that we didn’t think we would get any bag offer.

When the FSH SA finally got to me, I did explain that I have a number of B30s and I wanted to try a smaller size for lighter weight, in a neutral blue gray. She didn’t have any smaller Bs, so she came back with a K25 Bleu orage. I was going to refuse it (ghw is usually a deal killer) but DH loved it, and he called my local SA to convince me. they were right, and I love it now, but it wasn’t what I wanted originally.

It was so late by the time we had sorted through bags, and i rejected a mini Della cavalleria (not neutral), that the FSH SA asked that I come back the next day for the RTW I wanted. She had a rack waiting the next morning. I’m now also going back in the fall by appt with her (and no I don’t ‘expect’ a specific bag when that appt happens either)

FSH appointments have a kind of serendipity that enables someone to get a chance at a QB without prespend or history.

This is my own philosophy. YMMV

@daniels307 , I was told to bring my physical passport. Not a copy. If you search the thread, some have been told the same, others differently.

Everywhere I shopped I was asked for my passport for a tax refund. I would not want to incur the hassle of bringing a copy and then finding out I needed the original. Take standard precautions to protect your valuables and you will be fine.
