This has likely been asked here but is your ability to speak French a factor in getting a BK?
I don’t think so. Interestingly many years ago, my experience was that you had to be seen to at least attempt to speak in French to get anywhere - asking if anyone spoke English was frowned upon.
On more recent visits, I spoke (broken) French and was replied to in English. The large influx of tourists for whom spoken French would not be a possibility has led to a much greater acceptance of English. Not sure what others have noted!

Came across a tiktok where the girl said she used her hotel concierge (Hotel Barriere le Fouquet) to book a leather appointment at one of the stores in Paris and they just needed two weeks notice to get her slotted in when she was in town. Has anyone done this before / staying at the other 5 star hotels? (Le meruice, ritz, George v etc)

Yes some have and some have not been successful.

I'm currently in Paris - have been trying for 5 weeks for an appointment with no luck :crybaby: and haven't been here in about 8 years. I'm shocked at the difference in the level of friendliness of all workers (not just H SA) and amount of English spoken. It's a marked difference for me over those years.

I have used Crillon and Plaza Athene in the past to get appointments. But when reaching out to them this summer, both hotels told me concierges have been unable to book appointments since April. I think your room/hotel status also plays a part. If you’re a VVIP clients staying in best suite for two weeks, they might still be able to pull some strings.

We also shouldn’t believe everything people/influencers on social media say.
