I will leave this reminder as a sticky because tthis is often a thread that new members (or new Hermès lovers) post on - hopefully temporarily.

Interesting, thanks for the input. I’m not too concerned, just trying on the off chance. I live in Europe, it’s not a big deal. for me to go, and I enjoy my home boutique experience. I am just saying I wouldn’t plan a holiday with this in mind and I had no idea appointments were so rare. Quite a few people I know have gotten them. We will never know how it all works and as with all things Hermes it’s best not to take it all too setiously.

My niece is planning on. going later this Summer. Do you know if appointments are required for those who are not looking for a bag?

Yeah it’s actually ridiculous. I have a significant history in my home store, just not the Paris one. Oh well... I don’t think they offer appointments to people without prior Paris history. If someone has an exception to this rule, I’d be interested to know. Best of luck to everyone ❤

This has been addressed before. It’s a lottery system - purchase history isn’t taken into account for appointments. People with large purchase histories have been rejected consistently whereas others with none have gotten appointments. It all comes down to the luck of the draw. You can lose the lottery ten times in a row and have someone who’s never played win the first time!

some people win millions 2x although mathematically chances are close to 0

I wasn’t saying my case is ridiculous, I was replying to someone who had an S.A. in Paris who they had visited many times and who couldn’t not make an appointment through that S.A., only through the appointment system. This I feel is not fair for long standing Paris clients.
As for me, I would never plan a trip around this so it’s ok. It will happen when it’s supposed to. Grateful for my home boutique and the relationships there. The idea of FSH is fun, but nothing replaces the home boutique experience where they know you.

I think we should also keep in mind that people are more likely to post about their experiences if they succeeded (got a bag) and have a bag to show and post about. Both on here and on social media in general. I think a lot of people who don’t succeed (can’t get appointment / not able to get a bag they want) are likely not posting about their experience. Survivorship bias and all that. I don’t doubt the number that there are thousands of people applying for appointments everyday and really only a very small portion gets one. I would always think of the chance of getting your Hermes bag as a “cherry on top” bonus and not the main or sole purpose of your Paris trip.

Wish everyone good luck but just keep in mind you do need to be lucky, it really is not a guarantee or even a very likely event.

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to share my experience so far in Paris. I am in Paris right now on my 4th night. Tried 4 times, rejected 4 times :(. I only have 2 nights left. I dont think I will get lucky. I dont have a history here. Only in Canada. I went to the 2 other locations to ask for appointment, all rejected and they dont even bother looking at me either. Idk if buying something will make a difference in the appointment system. Thank you

I read someone bought a small item to get in the Paris system. Then they applied and got an appointment. Maybe try that! Good luck!
