My husband and I arrived in Paris this morning. We had twice before our arrival for appointments at FSH with no luck. We decided to take a chance a George V this afternoon. They were very sweet and gave us an appointment. I am looking for a 35 cm Birkin or Kelly. SA took my details and came back with a big box. My heart jumped in my throat. I was so excited. Sadly it was a black 24/24. I turned it down as I have my heart set on a B or K. She did ask if I would be interested in a Constance or Lindy but I said not at the moment. She suggested we come back on Monday to try again.
We then went to FSH and it was super busy as expected. My DH spoke to a SA to see if there was a chance to get an appointment. She recommended he speak to the head of the leather dept which he did. Unsurprisingly he had no luck as she said all appointments we gone for the day and to keep trying online. We bought a scarf and toured the store. It was a great experience. Just got the notice we were unsuccessful again for an appointment for Monday. But we will try again. My birthday is Tuesday so maybe that will bring us some luck.

I hope you get the bag you want but most importantly, I hope you get to spend quality time in Paris outside of retail stores!

Good luck, keep us posted! If you still don't get an appt at FSH and are going to purchase non-leather items there anyway, couldn't hurt to try what aishaaa89 mentioned below:

I was actually declined at first, i then bought a shoes and ask the SA who helped me to try for me and it worked. This works most of the time, i didnt get the shoes for the appointment i was actually looking for them.

Just to let you know I tried this too, specifically with shoes. Didn’t work for me. The SA was nice but at the same time insisted I would have to get an appointment with a leather SA.

I am going to believe that if on Tuesday your husband approaches the leather SA at the desk and says "Its my wife's birthday today, and I would love to find her something special" it will be hard for them to turn you away.

Do you own any other colors of either? Since it’s a tough color and such a journey, IF you have no experience with either, I’d highly recommend being careful with which one you get. They’re so different, and you don’t want the purchase and all the chasing in Paris go to waste. If you’re like me, stuff like that with a travel/emotional attachment I hate to sell, but I also hate bags sitting in my closet...

I only say this because I find them to be very different in usage, the most obvious part of it being the holding and having to open a clasp vs just digging into a tote lol.

I hope you find the perfect bag!!

Hi all...looking to score a B or K in Paris. I read if you already have a B or K to wear it!! What are your thoughts? Doing a ton of sightseeing with the fam so bringing my B35 wasn't my top choice of travel bags. Please advise!!

I leave for Paris this weekend and it is planes and airports that concern me.
Best of luck to you, @QuelleFromage. You are such a fount of H knowledge (customs, etc.) that I always look forward to your posts and to your insights and intel.
We have one short trip to NYC coming up. We are seniors, so we're the group that is most susceptible. But I think the spread of the virus will only get worse thru the next couple of months. You can't go when everybody and their brother is ill. But now is only the start of the virus spread. I agree with your concern about plane travel, but we're not hearing a lot at this time about people getting infected from planes, JMO. And supposedly for 80 percent of people, especially those who not older, it's a mild condition. So, I hope it's appropriate to say to you, "Bon Voyage!"

Question for you ladies, is it important to bring an Hermes bag with you? I have a Kelly, Constance, Lindy and Evelyn. Do I need to bring my Kelly to have a greater chance of being considered?
I didn't. I figured they see a billion of B's and K's, so what difference is one more going to make? Worked out ok for me. I just didn't want to dress up ( = carrying a K) when I was also going to museums on the same day.
