Hello,

I have been reading this thread for an hour now; and I’m starting to get anxious will be visiting Paris next week with my dad and was hoping to buy a b/k in size 25. Dad can try for a k20/k25 for my sister. The only issue is that we’re staying for 3 nights only :( from what I read many had unsuccessful attempts in securing an appointment! Dad just had a knee surgery 2 months ago; he can’t stand in queues unfortunately. I mean I can queue for both of us but then I’m afraid someone will be upset and will make a scene (which I totally understand) but in my dad’s situation that’s the only option I have. I heard people saying that I can try applying for appointments 2 days prior to my arrival date since the first 2/3 appointments are usually rejected :( wish me luck, since I’m travelling to Paris just for the bags. In Dubai the system is crazy! In order for you to be offered a bag you need buy items equivalent/more than the bags price. Not to mention that our prices are much much higher compared to Europe :(

Good luck, but I don’t think the Dubai system is that different than many parts of the world. It’s like the norm. That’s the whole point why Paris is special.

you’re absolutely right. But I noticed that the ratio in Europe is different. In Dubai if you want a bag let’s say worth 10,000 usd they will straightforwardly ask you to spend 10,000 usd or above to buy the bag. In Europe I was never asked to spend any particular amount. Of course you have better luck if you have a purchase history. I have purchased bags with 0 purchase history in the past; but in Dubai it’s impossible.

It’s the same in a lot of Asian countries , and sometimes 1.5x is the ratio if you are after a sought after bag (a 25). And yes they will straight up tell you this. In America they don’t say it out loud but it’s more or less the same anyways. I actually prefer when they tell you straight what the ratio is. When they don’t say it it doesn’t mean it’s not there.

I will cross all fingers and toes for you- if anyone complains about you standing in line for your father, well, they deserve their bad karma!

I absolutely love reading about all the successful "hunts" at FSH :) but ladies, please stay safe in Paris. Three weeks ago an acquaintance got robbed while walking down the stairs to the metro station (I think the name of the station was the French word for Spring). Two men wrapped in scarfs accosted her and her little daughter. One behind her and one in from of her. They ripped a gold necklace off her neck!

Obviously a very traumatising experience. Her baby was screaming, she was in utter shock! :( The gold chain was not even that valuable so the assumption is that maybe this was a practice run :( It"s a sad reality but leave your valuables at home when going to Paris. I don't mean to create any panic but better safe than sorry.

Hi everyone, I will be visiting Paris in Dec during winter time, just wondering if you all carry B/K around when travelling because will be wearing such thick winter clothings right. Is it safe? Or will be easily snatched by pickpockets?

Thanks for advice.

I wear and carry Hermes and Cartier etc. in Paris including on the Metro. You just need to be aware of your surroundings like any other large city. Paris is no worse and arguably better.

I’m from Australia and have been to Paris about a dozen times and never had any issues. This includes trips where I’ve carried everything from Chanel, Gucci and Louis Vuitton bags to Kanken backpacks. I think a general rule to travel by is only carry what you feel you can lose, whether it’s money, jewellery or handbags. And if you do travel with precious items, make sure they are insured. Bon voyage
