Paris trip for Hermes

I hope this is OK, but my son is in Paris for just a few days and I don't have time to go back and read all the messages. I was hoping he could bring me home a treat from Paris Hermes, but does he need an appointment for the accessories or only the bags?

I guess I should also ask: are enamels and silks generally less expensive to purchase in France than the US, or are they basically the same? Are there items that are exclusive to Paris? My son is a college student (but a lover of luxury goods) so I have to be pretty specific on what I ask him to buy and I don't have much time!

No appt needed for silks or enamels. Yes items are slightly cheaper in paris, more so if you live in a high tax rate us state and he files for Vat refund.

@jaschultze in terms of price, most of the H things in France is cheaper than in the US... some are alot cheaper, and some are just 20% cheaper (ballpark figure). If i remember correctly, clothing, shoes, housewares and belts were alot cheaper than in US even without considering the tax refund...

Another lady was also told no picotins available, which really surprised me.

This explains it!!! Considerably increasing the numbers of applicants every day..... not to mention when one family would put in four names to try.... I won't be surprised if it goes up to 10 trials.... haha....

be aware leather jewelry twillies and ties end up being only approx. 5-6% cheaper than US at least in my experience... below see a few examples (I'm crazy with keeping spread sheets!) -

While I would love the savings, the real fun for me is knowing that it came from a Paris store. I've never been ... sigh.

I went in September (first 2 weeks) of last year and it did feel like mission impossible. You might have luck if you are looking for non-quota bags.

I've gotten b/k in the last 2 summers in Aug... it is not mission impossible...

I was able to purchase a Birkin (known SA at FSH) and a Constance (walk-in at Sevres) on the last Saturday in August not quite 2 years ago. I expected to find nothing at that time of year and ended up leaving Paris with 2 bags! So, although stock may be lower, don’t give up hope in August!

Paris Hermes stores will always have bags in stock, it's just that it's likely to be lowest levels in July and August so chances are corresponding. I actually find I get a lot of my bags arriving in September.
