Hi,

Is there anyone who’s making Paris your home store? I’m asking because the difference in prices is so significant. So everytime I want to buy something at my local store and I compare it to the Europe price, I would always feel like it’s better to buy it in Paris instead and ended up not getting the item.

I can only go up to 2x a year though.. is it often enough to make Paris my home store?

I try to shop mostly in Paris but I haven't been able to set up with the same SA. Some people here have been able to do this but I think its more difficult now. I do get mailings from H in Paris though so I must be on some kind of list.

You said you could only go up to 2x a year so I am guessing you need to fly long haul to visit Paris. When you look at the costs, did you take into account of the flights + hotels + expenses? I mean flying long haul business/first class is not cheap and 5* hotels in Paris is not cheap. Adding all that up, are these items still cheaper? Unless of course if you need to go to Paris for other reasons anyway, then why not.

@HavLab what do you think is making it harder to get the same SA to serve you? I am thinking Is it easier to build a relationship in Sevres compared to FSH?

@chicinthecity777 if I get a B/K the difference in price would definitely cover business trip and hotel even for 2 ppl (I would prefer to fly with my husband if possible). This is so because in my country not only the B/K is much more exp but I need to spend 1:1 before I get offered one. And these other items are so expensive too.
But if I don’t get a bag, then The travel cost would be an extra cost hahaha

Do you live in Australia? Because that sounds like what happens here in aus the price difference of a birkin is almost 6k aud and you need to have accumulated 1:1 (excluding leather goods eg wallets) to be offered..... I personally prefer Paris

I was going to ask the same thing! Not to mention unless you make sure to stick with one particular SA, even if you spend 1:1 or more you are not likely to be offered one (such as my case). I was on the waitlist for a K for over a year, a couple months back I went to the store to check and was told I was no longer on the list which means they must have called me when a bag came in and I did not pick up ..I do not buy that one bit as I never received any missed call or any voice message left regarding it.

Anyway, have now formed a relationship with an SA at my local store but there is no guarantee that she will be able to offer me a B/K any time soon so I basically just continue what I have done in the past, spend only on things I like, the only difference being the purchases will be with one SA.

With H you just never know..but Paris is always a good idea and even if you don’t get a bag, you can still save by getting other items you want for less than what they cost in your home country

Just sharing my experience here!

This is my 3rd trip to Paris. The first trip which was 2 years ago, I lined up at FSH with the old system but it was around Xmas time so stock was so limited. I was offered a kelly 32 at the George V store but the size and color was not what I was after at all so I politely declined.

The second trip was not successful either in getting a kelly but I have to admit I did not line up on this occasion.

Today I managed to get an appointment at FSH and I was so excited as i was only going to be in Paris for one day this time. However when my appointments time came, I was told that there is no kelly in any size or any color.

So my dream of getting a kelly 28 has remained elusive! Yet I have been offered 2 Birkins at my home store without a big purchase history so it goes to show that with Hermes, you just never know! So many amazing stories with people scoring their dream bags in Paris but for some, things might work out better in their home store.

Good luck to those still trying in Paris! I hope to return one day and also have an amazing story to tell !

Great attitude! If not 3rd times the charm, well I am SURE it will be the 4th! I am truly looking forward to your post in this thread telling us everything about your amazing story.
But it won't matter, because that elusive K28 will magically appear for you-and soon! I am positive. Sending all good H vibes and thoughts your way:biggrin::biggrin:

Thank you for sharing and good luck for next time!

I admire how strong your were when you had the power to turn down a Kelly 32 at George V.

By the way I think it might be the
Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week, which made your luck harder there. Any celebrity sighting in store? ;)

@Summerof89 @pixiesparkle no, I live in SEA. Price is slightly cheaper than in Australia (a B30 cost ard 5k Aud more here compared to paris) but the 1:1 requirement is so hard as it applies to subsequent purchases not just the first one. Whereas I heard in many other parts like US and Europe many people get offered without having to spend 1:1 and it gets easier for subsequent purchases.

Btw, seems like report of scoring bags in Paris is so sparse these days. I wonder why. Hopefully not because less successful scores of bag but just because those who get the bag is not a TPFer or don’t report it here.

For Sevres or George V, does anyone know how much is usually the prespending needed before the SA will be willing to offer a B/K? I tried to read this thread and it seems for FSH the offer is unrelated to any prespending. Pls CMIIW

No experience of the exact figure but story varies here.

Here is my experience of last year;

If you want to make FSH your home store the prespending will help your profile for the next visit. ESP if you weren’t offered any quota bag at your first time. That’s my case anyway. But I thought you need a big purchase to get a regular sales at your first time. But you better go check with those have a sales how much it should be instead.

But surely you can be very lucky and be offered sth. at your first trial, who knows. ;)

At Sevré I was looking for none quota bag last summer — wasn’t dare to ask for B/K due to heard the rumour of spending 1:1 or even 1.5 etc,— I only bought a belt plus scarf and a dress. I was offered what I was looking for, just not the colour I was after, and it wasn’t a quota bag. Mind you, when I was queueing, there was another woman waiting there before me, took her not behaved little one as well as her new acquired birkin from George V, and the sales told her there was absolutely nothing apart from the new Kelly shoulder bag ( sorry I am not intérêt in it so can’t remember the name.) I don’t know what went wrong with her, the sales didn’t bother to sell her anything. Not sure wether it was the kid who was too mischievous or she did, however looked very much a reseller to everyone, or she didn’t buy anything from Sevré. Just saying, the thread suggested to take your younger ones, from what I saw maybe take the little ones but only those well dressed and well manner ones. The spending was the norm at Sevré, not sure how much, but some reported lucky story too.

At George V I was told a no after queried a none quota bag without a history in France. After I purchased some scarves the lovely sales asked me if I need anything else then I mentioned another none quota bag, this time off she went and checked far longer, which made me wonder was the first check of my passport was just to verify whether I had a history at George V or in France.
I was newbie to botiques in France but a regular at CDG and home, should have purchased all my items at boutiques which record shoppings in France over the years instead.

Can you kindly share how many times did you apply before getting your appointment?

Thank you so much @nymeria !!
I will take as much good H vibes as I can get! Oh my goodness the chocolat kelly with GHW at FSH looked soooooo amazing yesterday but I will happily take any other neutral color in a 28!

I was only in Paris for one full day so I made the appointment online the day before and I was so surprised to see the appointment was confirmed. The SA asked me the preference for color, leather, and also hardware. I was open to all leather and hardware as long as it was a dark neutral color but was told there was no kelly in any color or size. The SA actually came back with 3 boxes and my heart was like “ hooray “ but there were all herbag!

Can you kindly share how many times did you apply before getting your appointment?

Oops, does she think herbag is Kelly alike? To me to a certain point yes. But I love that you were so strong to turn down a K32.

Oh only the first trial and you got an appointment? Oops! That’s a record and others were only successful on their 5th or 6th trial of booking! They must love you on the system! ;)

Haha yes the SA I had did say to me that the herbag is like the kelly and if I would like to have a look at them as she brought 3 boxes back. I politely declined and did not even ask her to open the boxes :nuts:
