Here's a serial prefix to be aware of. It appears that any bag with H2H is fake. The H plant wasn't operating in 2002.

I've found several fakes in different styles with this prefix.

H2H-

Interestingly, EVERY one of the fakes copy the styles they claim to be however in many cases the actual styles are leather bags and the fakes are signature bags. On all, creeds describe leather bags for not-leather fakes.

In this case, I couldn't get to the original listing but the bag it's copying isn't a leather bag. style is "correct" for the one it's pretending to be but has the invalid serial number.

And one more:

ETA: Here's another that further shows that the style is "correct" for the genuine item.

Forgive me if I am posting in the wrong place! A few questions...what is and where would I find the drill down? Where could I find a guide that has a photo of every bag and what it is called?(I am mostly interested in the plain brown leather (70's?) bags? Has the creed always been the same or are there different versions of the wording? Thanks!!!

The drill down doesn't exist anymore. It was a system in which you could put in a style number and the stock photo would pop up.
There isn't a guide that has a photo of every bag with its style number and name. Some people have made guides on the Internet but most have mistakes. Your best information is on the forum. The kind of plain brown leather bags you are talking about were made up through the early 2000s and some styles were made even later.

The creed hasn't always been the same. The earliest Coach bags didn't even have creeds. There have been many versions of creed wording, way too many for me to explain in this post.

For the bags it sounds like you are interested in, check out the vintage chat thread

That is so weird! Although I can't recall the specific item, I've seen (rare cases of) different style numbers for the same or similar items based on color, this is the first I've seen of completely different items with the same style number.

I suspect it's a Coach error on the butterfly charm because a 4-digit style number would be an item from about 12-15 years ago, in line with when the fish would have been made.

Your tingtingchen link doesn't show the image. Here's the picture from a cache of the page:

I wasn't able to find a picture of the tag from the butterfly charm (though I found one with the price showing but not the style number) but I have pictures of both the label from the butterfly and the tag from the fish, both showing the same style number.

As further confirmation (in my mind) that it's a Coach error, I noticed that on the tingtingchen site, it shows the retail price of 1674 as $38, which is the original retail of the fish fob. Suggested retail of the butterfly charm is $128 as shown on the price portion of the tag. (I do see that suggested retail is shown as $128 on tingting but it's interesting that $38 is the same original price as the original 1674.

Okay, this is getting really frustrating!

@whateve brought up a case where Coach is reusing a previously assigned style number on a completely different item.

I've found a case where what seems to be the same item/style, there are 2 different style numbers.

1: Style 61900: https://www.ebay.com/sch/11450/i.ht...LH_TitleDesc=1&_sop=10&_sadis=15&_stpos=60629
2. Style 92959: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fr...&_osacat=11450&_odkw=coach+61900&_stpos=60629
When I bought mine at the outlet in 2013, it was style number 92959. Based on the number, I imagine 61900 is a later release. I saved a picture of it to my files in 2018. Here is an example that shows a price tag.

I wonder if they made it with a different style number so they could price it higher. They have a slightly different name too.

Regarding the different name, I questioned the name on the first tag because there's no enamel on the item! But it's definitely the tag that goes with the fob.

It doesn't look like price is the reason for the different style number. Both have the same price and neither has a MFF style number.

Just weird. I swear Coach does this to confound us!
