I've got a Courier from about the same time frame as yours. It looks like the grommet may have been replaced on mine because it looks silver-ish? I'm not sure though.

Mine look just the slightest bit lighter in color overall from the buckles, and there are small spots that have worn to silver. I will try to take a pic when I get home, but I'm not sure if the camera will pic it up. Maybe yours are original just a bit more worn?

I once had a red pre-creed (cartouche imprint) Courier Pouch that had an interior pocket just like the one shown in the quoted post. That same pocket design could also be found in the second version of the Duffle Sac (the first design did not include interior pocket) that was sold during the pre-creed (imprint) and creed with no number periods (so call it 1972-77, or thereabout). Note that there were several other significant changes made between the original release and second renditions of the Duffle Sac.

Is that it? My duffle sac has seams in the middle front and back, not the sides.

I’ve been loving all of the new Cassie colorways that are being released and have really been drawn to this style. There has been fun discussions of Cassie being an updated Court bag and inspired by the LV pochette metis (or vice versa who knows lol). Unfortunately there appears to be some glazing issues being reported for many of these bags, similar to the LV PM.

I guess my hunt for the Court bag has now officially started ha! After receiving my ramblers legacy and being so giddy over the quality of a 20 year old bag I think I’ll really enjoy a Court bag.

The Court was the original. You're going to love it!

Not all vintage bags are as soft and supple as the original Rambler's Legacy. Every court I've had my hands on is very nice but the leather isn't as nice as on my 1999 Rambler's Legacy. I think that is because it is a structured bag. Duffle sacs and stewardesses usually have softer leather.

Good to know! I think I’d like the Court to be a little stiffer since like you said it’s a structured style. I stumbled onto some old posts about Stewardess bags so I think I’ll start researching those and Patricia as well. Ever since I bought my Page 27 I’ve been into flap cross bodies, even though Page is like only a 1/3 of a flap lol

Try a Classic Shoulder Bag 9170 made in the 90s. My 90s one has a longer strap that can cross-body. The leather on this style is also super soft and supple.

I love the soft smooshy leather on the Rambler's Legacy! I think one of the reasons I gravitate to the classic shoulder bag is because of the smooshy leather.

Indeed you've a nice example of the second design for the Duffle Sac. The primary changes from the original release version were: the interior slip pocket was added, the buckle tabs were sewn on (versus riveted on), the vertical seams were moved from being in-line with the buckle tabs to locations centered between the buckle tabs, the lower seam changed from finished to bound, the shape of the zipper pull was changed, and the configuration of the binding along the upper edge was modified. The design you have was subsequently superseded by one where the buckle tabs were integrated into bag's body panels and the vertical seams reoriented back to aligned with them.

Hello everyone,
Hi there, any idea the name of this bag, color, and era? Thanks!

This thread is for those who love vintage Coach handbags. Photos and chat are welcome. We can all learn from each other and have fun too![/QUOTE]

I also have an early mocha #8920 Large Courier Pouch identified with a COACH metal tag and it has the same pocket and tab features as yours. It was not unusual for some of the styles introduced in 1971-72 timeframe to undergo design modifications from year to year. Just think, there were three different design evolutions of #9085 Duffle Sac from its initial release in 1971 to the configuration produced in 1977 (or so) that we've all come to know, not to mention the changes to the iconic #9375 Dinky (where the removable dual strand spaghetti strap found in the introductory 1973 design was replaced by the fixed single strand strap several years later).

Can you elaborate on those three design changes of the duffle sac from 71 thru 77? I have noticed on some very old duffles they had a seam line right down the middle front of the bag.
