So my Broadway in British Tan arrived last week. I was out of town, so I had to rely on dh to get the package for me. It's in really good shape, no color loss, very supple leather. It is a good sized satchel and the top opens nice and wide, which is great. Also wanted to ask, the creed shows what looks like an individual number vs. the style number, does that place this bag in the mid-80's? 20190718_082805.jpg 20190718_082917.jpg 20190718_082930.jpg 20190718_082944.jpg 20190718_083003.jpg 20190718_083224.jpg

I love this! Someone took really good care of it.
The serial number format xxxx-xxx in your bag dates from about 1990-1993. From the late 1970s to about 1989, the format was xxx-xxxx.

Awesome, thank you! I forgot when Coach moved from individual registration numbers to the style numbers. Still pretty old. I need to spruce up the brass hardware and I may put a coat of Blackrocks on it to get that shine. Otherwise, she's usable right out of the gate!

I've never found one. The early bags, other than Madison, didn't come with dustbags. I'm not sure when they started using them for everything.

Thanks, I think I pretty much have them figured out from about 2000 forward. I’ll have to start paying attention more to older bag listings that are listed with original dust bags.

When I've seen older bags for sale, new in box, they don't have dustbags. Sometimes you can buy Madison dustbags on ebay. Those are the only dustbags I know of that predate the brown flannel ones.

Thanks! I just bought a few of the brown flannel ones, they seem to be the most “authentic feeling” for my recent vintage bags even if they never originally came with one lol

@RL Bernstein, sorry just noticed on page 810 that you explained what i was asking about, do you happen to know all colors they come in?
I thought that you'd happen upon the later post. What I failed to mention in that brief description though was that the lower seam on what I believe was the initial run of the first design version had small diameter (plastic?) piping (which also appeared on some prior pre-creed designs). This feature was eliminated early on, which is probably fortunate insofar as the material used for it did not age well and was prone to cracking, a problem that can be found in many of the surviving examples of the styles that had that feature.

Unfortunately, I haven't come across color charts for the early 1970s. I do though know that there were quite a few interesting colors options during those years. I've seen the first version of the Duffle Sac (which was produced during both the COACH metal tag and COACH cartouche imprint pre-creed periods) in saddle, mocha, putty, navy, burnt orange (precursor to British tan?) and an interesting forest green (that I have). I'm pretty sure that the palette changed and grew from year to year.

Thanks for all the good info, can you post a pic of your green one, I'd like to see what it look like.

Oh, the BT-ness! Forget clicking LIKE, it’s . . .
:panic: :heart::heart::heart: :panic:
Yeah, I’ve got a thing for BT :girlsigh: Early on in my hunt for rehab candidates, I stumbled on a listing for an Oliver in BT. Aside from a small scrape on the piping, it appeared completely unused. I’ve been in love with BT ever since.
