Are exotic Kelly Pochettes considered quota bags, and can one SO a KP?
and is ombre lizard exclusive to VVIPs?

Also, in general, does the store prefer a lump of big purchases at once or spread across?
I only get what I love, but sometimes instead of ordering one-off items I purchase them with other things ex: instead of getting 2 twillys, I'll wait until a particular SLG is available and I'll get them all at the same time; perhaps with other items.

Thanks for the informative thread!

Exotic KP is considered a quota bag along with KC. Regular leather won’t take upa quota for the year though.

Ombré lizard is very rare and therefore offered to VIC’s that have an extensive purchase history.

Re: lump sum purchases, that depends on the SA and the store in general. It’s difficult for them to let a good sale walk if they have something the client wants. The issue with that is that If they decide to just take the bag after we bring it out and leave/return everything else we cannot stop them. So in other words “getting everything at the same time” Will just result in you never receiving a call back.

This may be a dumb question, I am aware that through SO you can have like bicolour, tricolour Birkins and so on but let's say you would like to request a B30 in Bleu nuit, gold hardware, would this still be a SO as well? It's no different than putting this on a regular wishlist though...?
Good question. If it’s parts of the program it’s considered a SO regardless of what you get.

Mr. Ex - how do SAs/SMs REALLY feel about clients shopping at locations other than their home boutique? A lot of members here are well traveled, and will obviously encounter other H boutiques along the way.... are we really expected to only window shop and not buy at these vacation spots? Especially if it's a store that has a larger inventory of items that smaller stores don't usually have, or a particular item is hard to get/have transferred. Will shopping on vacation affect bags offers back at home?

Asking specifically about vacation destinations in the U.S. Thank you!

"Could I be considered for a special order?"

This is the question I dream of asking but I have no idea if my profile and/or relationship with my SA is strong enough. If she were to answer no, then I'd be really disappointed and be worried our relationship would become awkward. Each time I'd see her, she'd know I'm interested in a SO and that she can't make it happen.
If it makes you feel better, try rephrasing your question to something like “how does one get offered a SO?” You can say to her how you’ve heard different or you’re been told one thing etc etc and that you just want to hear it from someone who is able to give you a more definitive answer.

EXCELLENT question Selisa!
As a client you should NEVER be expected to not shop wherever you’d like. It is your decision to do so. If it’s international shopping there’s no way to see that purchase history so it shouldn’t matter anyways. B’s and K’s are a little different as that is something that is beginning to be monitored through the current US system so if you have a chance to purchase one of those purchase at your own discretion. My advice is if you see something you like just get it because you never know when you’ll come across it again.

So for example, if there is an item that you know your home store won't ever receive (or stores aren't willing to transfer/trade), just grab it when you see it on vacation? Got it. ;)

What about wishlist items, especially popular bags? Would that be completely out of line, against H-etiquette, if clients managed to purchase that item on vacation....while waiting for the offer at home?

This is so helpful for the introverts....thank you!

Speaking of exotics: what would be the possibility of a birkin or kelly in crocodile or alligator for somebody who's a client that has only spent around 1:1 of a regular leather birkin or kelly? I've read mixed sources where people say exotics are easier or harder to get than "regular" leathers.

I love this answer. The only thing I would like to add is that you don't have to "hide" your purchase from your SA, especially if it's someone you have been working with (or plan to) for a long time. I work with two boutiques for several reasons (and have been doing so for *many* years), and both of my SAs are aware, because I am always looking for very particular things that either store may not get (and on rare occasions neither store gets it). If both my SAs know what I have, they can make better suggestions for future purchases that complement what I already have. What's nice is that I have a wider pool of inventory to find things from, and additionally each boutique has certain departments which get better inventory than the other (one has great RTW, the other has better shoes, etc.).

As far as pronunciation goes, if I'm not sure how to say a particular word or title I always start with something self-deprecating, like "I am about to mispronounce this badly, but..."

When allocating they’ll bring up the profile(s) to be considered. Normally they’ll not have more than one profile for the same bag (if multiples are available) but rather for different ones. But to answer your question, it is highly likely that the person with the oldest/longest spend history will be allocated that bag.

Ultimately it will be up the SA since they’re the ones petitioning for you. I guess you can say the impression you leave on someone with will help you out.

It makes sense that long-term clients will be offered a bag first. This may also be different from country to country but can I just ask generally, let's say you like to shop around in different Hermes stores in one city, (in my case London, there are like five stores here and they are kind of close to each other and I tend to just pop in whichever is closer when I am out and about), when a SA is considering who to offer a bag, will they only consider the purchase history in their particular store?

Also, as part of that question, if you kind of know most SAs in one store, how should you choose who to make your wishlist with? Here in the UK we have a 'wishlist' system where you have anywhere between 8-9 months to register your wish for a B,K, or C and if you get it, you get it, if you don't the wish expires and you have to do one again. My wishlist has expired couple of weeks ago and I still cannot decide which store and who to do my wishlist with.

I've been a long term client of Hermes - have bought shoes, fashion jewelry, perfume, baby-items, and many, many scarves. I honestly never really gave getting a B or K much thought, until the last year or so. I've had many an SA over the course of my 15 years of buying, and finally this year I was thinking I'd like a bag. I broached the idea with current my SA, who was lovely, and she said she could certainly to that for me considering my continued love for the brand. This was in early March, and then suddenly, in mid-May I received a note saying that she was leaving the store and asked who I'd like to be assigned to. Because she is lovely, I popped into the store to to give her a bottle of wine in celebration of her next position. Anyway, this is a long-winded way to ask, once I'm assigned to another SA (I know most of them in the store) will I go to the bottom of their list? Thanks so much for your help?

"Has anyone ever received a SO as their first quota bag?" (and the implied question... "is it possible for me?")

I just really started getting into the idea of getting a quota bag- I'm new to the brand and really only initially wanted one thing- but I got an AMAZING SA I click with and started to fall down the rabbithole. My "problem" is that I don't plan to have more than one, and I love both the ideas of a neutral bag and a bright bag. But I'm a newb and would never ask that of my SA because I don't want her to think I'm just outlandish for even asking.
