Plenty of threads on quota bags, including in different country's variables.

The SA should be completely transparent with clients and therefore should consider every single penny you’ve spent regardless of who it was with. If you have a 100k spend with no previous b/k purchases and you became someone else’s client they should definitely be able to offer you something ASAP!
Thank you, that gives me so much hope!

Dear Mr.X,
I have started my Hermes journey about 6 years ago with only one SA and got about 10 B,K AND 4 SO'S. She just left hermes. I almost know all the SA's but I do not know who tp pick moving forward? newer SA or old SA. I FEEL LIKE NEWER SA MAY HAVE LESS CLIENTS, SO LESS COMPETITION FOR ME>ANY RECOOMENDATIONS?
Also, i have mainly purchased a lot of jewelry and home already . i am not finding much newer items to be shopping as before?

I'm really enjoying this thread.. thanks for taking the time to answer all the questions!

One more from me..
Is there really a preference for a client to buy fine jewelry to get higher on the list? I'm only asking because it's somewhat of an unspoken rule where I live. It's almost a prerequisite actually which is very odd!
You’re welcome!
Jewelry is a lifestyle department and the prices can jump by quite a bit compared to everything else. It’s a good department to shop that’ll give you that high spend for your SA to be better able to petition for your desired bag. This also counts as a better incentive to the SA as it is at a higher commission payout.

Loving this thread
I would like to know what the sales targets are and if they are easy to meet? My SA from a different luxury house has a 6 digit target each month and is very proactive in sending me pictures and lookbooks for their items. My hermes SA however is not pushy at all and it seems she is so relaxed - almost like she is not in a sales role?

i am in a competitive area so does it mean SA targets are very each to reach hence the relaxed attitude?
I if by target you mean sales goal then it all depends on the location and the amount of time the person has been working at that location. To answer that question, their target sales goal usually ranges from at the very minimum high six figures to eight figures. Some artist naturally not pushy and that has to do with their personalities. Sometimes they will refrain from doing so so that their sales goal isn’t increased the following year which puts more stress on them.

If this is not what you meant then please disregard lol!

I’m learning so much from this thread! I have a question:

It’s my understanding that the SM has to approve the sale of a quota bag. What is taken into consideration for an approval?
That is correct. As previously mentioned, the overall purchase history is taken into consideration. When comparing two clients with a spend of $20,000 for example they will look at how long they have each been shopping for and will most likely approve the bag for the person who has been shopping the longest. This is assuming none of them have a bag for the season/year.

That’s a good question. You have to take into consideration both of the sales associates. If you go with the one that has been there for a long time you can expect experience and a longer wait, possibly. With a newer sales person you might be the highlight of their client book and therefore be offered more things but might run into some difficulties trying to get certain items. This is of course not the case for everyone but it is something you should consider when making this decision. My recommendation is to talk to a few associates and see who you get along with better. Having a great relationship is best regardless of whether they are new or a more seasoned veteran of the company.

Thank you this is so helpful and very interesting! High 6 figure sales goals omg..

In busy stores how often do they get bag shipments?
Also, when a dream bag comes along do all the SA get a chance to put forward one of their customers? Is it just a matter of asking the SM verbally or do they have to prepare some sort of written report with a profile of the client and why the client deserves a bag?

One more from me :) I hope you don't mind

Resellers.....
I don't understand how they are able to acquire the most coveted colors and leathers and not be blacklisted for being a reseller.
With the amount of training Hermes staff has, I'm sure they can spot one a mile away.

I have no problems with vintage resellers. But there has been a crazy surge in the amount of hermes-flippers.

They LITERALLY take pictures of bags in the store and have it listed as "XX bag store-fresh from XX city, goes to the first wire transfer" They don't even wait to leave the store:shocked:..
Even if the staff doesn't know, sometimes a simple instagram search on the store's location reveals these resellers because of the geotags.
Plus, they buy tons of the same items over and over again. How many gold oran sandals would you need in 4 sizes???

Shipments come in all the time but no ones aware of what’s in them until they’ve been processed by the shipping team. Sometimes no special bags will come in. Sometimes you’ll have a handful. Other times you’ll get more.
And Yes that’s the case. The SA will review a profile with a “SM” and will often speak of it.

Resellers have multiple ways of getting these coveted items. Often the reseller will have people getting things on their behalf, eventually moving up to bk’s. Sometimes it’s the reseller themselves that will come in and shop. There’s certain patterns that the company looks for when identifying resellers to blacklist.

Yes, exactly. Especially if it’s items that you are almost certain your home store won’t get.
Regarding wishlist items, as mentioned, the current US system will begin tracking those purchases made over seas but there’s no ETA on that. It’s i it accurate for wishlist items made in Paris so please use your discretion when purchasing such items.
Happy to help!

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my - and other members' - questions.

I have a nice working relationship with my SA at my home store - and so far my shopping experiences have been relaxed and enjoyable. Walk-ins are also allowed again, and it's like night and day from the appointment system due to COVID: everyone's much more laid back now. Vaccines and masks definitely help too.

I think whenever I'm able to travel again - and encounter another H boutique while on vacation - I'm going to opt to do the "window-shopping" method. Feast with my eyes...give my wallet a break  ... and make a note of what I see so I can message my SA back at home.

Thanks again!

Thank you for answering my question Mr. Ex! Greatly appreciate the time you take to share with us your knowledge. I have another question:

You’ve mentioned that jewelry is a lifestyle department. Which other items fall under “lifestyle”?

I have 2 sa’s, one local and one in a bigger busy city (thus a bigger stock). I asked my city sa if she happened to have a bag in, and she said it’s coming it in a month. Months later, my local sa, checked my history and told me that that bag was a special order… can you explain this to me? I don’t understand a lot of the terminology. It wasn’t a quota bag, or a hard to get bag, I was under the assumption the bag was just coming into the store. I’m guessing she ordered it for me? Am I allowed more special orders/requests or only the one? So confused. I inquire about a bunch of items, and I don’t want every inquiry to result in an ordered bag or other item. But there are items on my wishlist with my local sa that may or may not come into fruition. I’m really confused how this works. Can you shed some light?
