Leather goods are usually more difficult to reserve/order. An “order“ is just a kind of wishlist that they put on your account if they think there will be future deliveries. Then when the delivery gets scanned into inventory, it will pop up if the item is on someone‘s list. Popular items, seasonal items, and leather goods are often not “orderable” as they don’t want to waste their time if they don’t expect it to come back in stock and they also want to leave some inventory for walk-in clients/displays, or just not have 364837 names pop up for every item scanned. Each store has different policies on this, some stores/SAs don’t do “orders” at all. Also, some/most stores won’t ship any kind of leather goods these days so there is no point putting it on “order” for you if she can’t ship it to you when it arrives (if she knows you wouldn’t travel for it).
Ohhh ok! Thank you so much for taking the time to explain this to me, that really clarifies what’s been going on .
so my best bet is to just maybe request it from her before I plan to go into store and see if she has any available or expecting one to coming in around that time. Looks like a remote order will be tough for this piece.
thank you for your help!

Do you give your SA’s name to anyone who asks? Lately people( casual friends) have been asking for her name and I don’t want to send her people begging for stuff but no intention is establishing a relationship… just curious how people handle this?

@mauihappyplace, @acrowcounted and others have covered the position well (and I agree with it). I handle the
specific request by saying that my SA is overextended and is not taking new clients at this time (my SAs at Dior, Hermes, chanel, and brunello actually say as a general rule that they prefer not to take on cold clients, and they are actually so busy that new clients are also a stretch.

I have asked for and received referrals due to the kindness of others with whom I have some kind of retail empathy. . . enough so that there is the ability to personally vouch for the referral. I would never presume to piggy back onto the referrers relationship for any hard to get item. In other words, an SAs time is valuable, and a referral is merely an introduction of hopefully like minds, otherwise it’s a complete waste of time.

A brunello SA did refer me to my current chanel SA (they are good friends IRL, but she would not have done so had I not already established my bona fides. If I do click with someone enough to consider the request for an SA’s info, I do try to make sure the person isn’t crazy or unreasonable, but normal, pleasant, and with an understanding of what is and is not realistic or possible. And, most importantly, I always ask my SA first. An IRL friend only wanted a 30B etoupe, and I simply suggested that this might be hard to find in the boutique and to try fashionphile. I made no mention of my SA and simply gave her fashionphile links.

Scarf/Twilly/Maxi Twilly… are all designs seasonal? Pretty much, if I see something I like now, get it or it won’t be back once it’s gone?

I’ve also seen some mentioned as limited edition and was wondering if they were referring to the seasonal designs as limited while there are some designs that are always available.

TIA

I always advise, if you like something at H, get it while you can. However, this is especially true for scarves. It’s hard to find silks past season. IMO it’s easier to find a bag than a scarf.

a limited edition scarf or item, IMO, is one that is made specifically for that store. For example, I was just in Milan H week before and I saw a scarf made for the opening of the Milan boutique and two bags with decorated sides exclusive to that opening. I believe Kermit Oliver used to do designs specifically for either the Dallas or Houston store, and Paris FSH has its own exclusives. years ago, there was a black and white finesse 70 silk for NYC Wall Street

Hey there! I just got my Birkin 30 a couple weeks ago. I love it! I use it right now as often as I can, but I tend to carry significantly less than most people and fill my "empty" bag space with a cashmere cardigan. I feel like a Birkin 25 would be perfect for my everyday use since I'm 5'2'' and my SA knows I'd like one. That said, what should I know about getting my second quota bag this year? Should it be safe to expect at 1:1 spend? 1.5? There is more jewelry, shoes and rtw I want so that won't be an issue-- just not sure what to expect and any advice would be great. Thanks!

Is it impossible to get a B or K if you don't have a lot of cash to spend to build a relationship? I could afford a B or K, but don't have thousands to spend on top of it. Should I let go of this dream? What are my odds ?

If you just want a B or K and don't care about spending on other items for the chance to receive a bag, just go buy it secondhand. You'll get the bag you want immediately vs playing the game.

I guess it depends on the size too? If you want a larger size you may get it just by going into the store and asking. I got my first birkin 30 at fsh just by walking in and asking. Also it helps if you are not picky about color or hardware.

The long answer can be found on this thread:
The Newbie's HOW DO I GET A BIRKIN (or other bag) Reading Room

The short answer is: depends where you are. Places you can get a B or K in a boutique without "relationship": Paris (and maybe Lyon), Tokyo, Osaka, any touristy European city where B or K are not known/popular (although not a hard and fast rule coz I've heard of awful stories about the Venice and Warsaw stores; there may be others).

Good luck!

Warszaw stores are terrible, and their stock in a while has been horrible. Bags such as picotin i was told are wish lists. I’m never stepping foot into that store again based on their egregious behavior towards me

Might be a silly question, but an SA showed me a box of colors/leathers and asked what was my dream bag (after spending $2k on my first visit). I told her a few options and that I was not picky. Have since bought small things from her. Typically how long does it take after putting your name down, do you still need to spend 1:1, does being asked for the wishlist mean anything etc? Thanks!
