I haven’t seen it online in a long time so I figure it might have been a hard to get item which is why I mentioned that I’m interested and if she had seen one recently.

I don’t believe wording affected whether she responded or not, as I had messaged the other SA a while back that “I would like to buy an item” (and stated what the item was, along with a website link), and never received a response either.

For all the other luxury brands I shop at, I usually would let my SAs know I’m interested in/looking to buy an item, they would find that item, and I would purchase. It’s a pretty straightforward process. I’m not understanding why it’s so complicated with Hermes.

I’m not trying to build a relationship just via text either, I wanted to know if there’s an item available at the store so I don’t drive there only for them to not have it.

I’m looking to have a sole store to purchase my Hermes items so it’s not like I won’t ever show my face again. However, when I shop, I usually know exactly what I want so I’ll only go if they have the item or can get me the item. I don’t see a point in wasting their time or mine by going in without knowing what I want.

I've had similar experiences to you with my SA, who I have a very good established relationship with. He doesn't always respond to my texts timely, if at all, but I find that if I come into the store at another time, he will tell me he has been looking for the item, etc. He did say they've been crazy busy, so perhaps they just aren't prioritizing responding to those texts, but it does seem like things are noted.

Thank you for your response! That’s reassuring to know! I wasn’t sure if it’s normal to not receive a response or they disappeared on me. I’m glad to hear things are noted even if they don’t respond. I don’t expect constant updates from them, just to help me get what I’m looking for.

Question about “offers”… are they only for Birkin/Kelly/Constance, or other items as well? I’ve seen some posts where other items are being referred to as “offers” like Evelyne TPM, or the Chypre sandals for example. Does an offer item just mean something that isn’t on display, but brought out to you, regardless of what it is? I know it sounds like a ridiculous question, but I’m wondering if I’ve had an offer without realizing it

You probably have had an 'offer' without realising and it was nothing more significant than a SA producing something for you. Too many people get hung up with reading too much into every nuance of shopping at Hermes. A lot of contributors on here do infer it is about a quota bag when they use the term offer, but others will use it in a more generalised way.

Thanks for the info… I’ve just hopped over from BV recently and it’s a whole different world. I guess what I’ve learned is that nothing is very consistent LOL

Enjoying learning, though. Slippery slope, H is.

Because many H boutiques are set up to make you feel that even, say, a Garden Party is hard to get (and there are places where it is hard to find Evies (the TPMs always rare), Picotins, etc.) - the presentation can be very much like an "offer".

In the end it's the same whether it's a scarf ring, an Herbag, a GP, or a Birkin - the SA says "we have something lovely" and shows it to you. I think the "offer" term probably evolved because, unlike many boutiques (even Chanel), there are not stacks of bags out on display that you can literally pick up and say "I'll take this".

That makes sense, thank you! I’ve never considered anything an offer TBH, until I read what some were offered items. I mentioned looking for a TPM in a neutral, and was informed after a few days that one was available. I was browsing shoes, and some exotic Orans and the Chypre were brought out. I wondered why they weren’t on the shelves. I understand the marketing and strategy behind it, but I guess for newbies like me, I’m wondering to myself how I’ll know what I want if I don’t know it exists!? On the plus side, it might be better for my wallet. :-) BV was a long journey for me, I’m still at the very early stages here. Lots of time to learn, I suppose.

The terminology IS weird. "Offer" puts all the power in their hands. One reason why the "share your offers" thread always bugged me (and yes I have participated in it recently. It kinda feels the same as "H fairy", like it's some magical privilege to buy a bag, and that getting an "offer" is something to show off.

Funnily enough I was in BV today and they were literally just opening drawers and showing me exactly what was in stock. I can understand that switching from that is weird (although at a certain point with H the same thing happens EXCEPT (usually) Birkins and Kellys).

This knowledge helps me set my expectations. There are a few more bags I’d like, including a Kelly at some point, but if I have to spend 1:1 on non-leather items for one, I doubt it will happen anytime soon. I have some more shoes, fashion jewelry and silks I’d like, but probably not enough total purchase to match the cost of a K. For now, anyway LOL. But again, I’ve found that anything can happen anytime. I guess I’ll just enjoy the journey and be happily surprised if and when I get one, whenever that happens. I appreciate your insight!!!

If it came from an Hermes boutique you should have no worries.
Fakes often have more documentation than genuine pieces
