I'm just curious how much would a B25 Himalaya be direct from the store?
If I'm not mistaken, last i checked it was approx 46K.

@Mr.Ex (and everyone who would like to help), please help me critique my game plan at H! It’s a local store, not tourist hub, and a pretty small store. When I first book an appointment at the store with a SA, if I do happen to like the SA, ill spend around 2-3k and when checking out express my interest in one of the special bags, and make it a point to swing by the store twice a month, and reinstate my interests once I spend around 7-8k.

How do you usually go about deciding whether an SA is good? Would 7-8k present be about enough for a Kelly Pochette? How much would Herbag/picotin/other coveted items count towards prespend?
I would just see how well you get along with them. Many people make their interactions with the SA very (sorry if I misuse this word) transactional rather than interactional. Try to make your interaction with the SA fun. If that doesn't work out with them try someone else. Make it a point to try and laugh with them and see how they respond. That's what I would do.

My SA has always said that he finds it frustrating when customers assume he is hiding things from them. He told me his tired of reminding people that the pandemic has affected stocks and if he had something special to offer he would. While he hasn't directed that frustration toward me, I keep that in mind rather than pestering him about when I will get a B/K. I continue to buy things I love as they become available and its much more relaxing than trying to calculate spend ratios (which I am sure I've exceeded at this point).

I say all of that to say, I don't think there is a fixed timeline. There is some luck involved from what it seems and patience is key.
That probably has to do with individuals who harass SA's into trying to get bags and nothing more.

@Mr. Ex Thanks for all the insight so far! I was wondering if you knew when stores do get shipment of quota bags, what's the range for how many bags can they get?
I don't have exact numbers on that other than the size and volume of the store matters. A small store might get 138 a year while a flagship might get 648.
Hi all,

I made my first Hermes purchase yesterday (a card holder), and when inspecting it, I noticed it was missing one stitch on the corner. It was the last card holder of the particular color combination in the store (display model) and the SA said it was cosmetic and not to worry about it. I'm having mixed feelings about this. Should I go back and ask if another store has this particular color combo, or is this truly cosmetic and I shouldn't worry about it?

Thanks!
These items are not perfect as they are hand made but if it bothers you then I would ask for an exchange ASAP.
Hello! I've always wanted to ask this but I'm a bit nervous to: I know now that there is a quota/limit of 2 special bags a year and I read that if one was hoping to score another bag in the same year, you'd have to go to France -- where the tally's don't merge. But is this true in all international stores? eg. is one able to get a Birkin or a Kelly from a different country in addition to the two bags you may have gotten from home? Many thanks in advance!
As of now they are unable to see quota purchases overseas. However, there's talks about that changing. I don't have details on that but I think you should enjoy that while it lasts.

I started buying from Hermes late last year and was (pleasantly) surprised at my last visit that my SA said she has ordered a particular scarf for me and it is coming in. It was an item that I asked her to "look out for me" if it ever comes in. I was under the impression that they cannot order (unless it is jewelry, and you have to pay 50% in advance) for you, and stock are just allocated when they come in. So are the items actually orderable? What items are, what aren't?

TIA!
When they say that they'll place an "order" think of it as being placed on a waitlist. The SA can put your request in the system so that when the item arrives it's automatically flagged under your name in which the SA will then call you to go in and pay for such item. Ordering from France and WWS's will sometimes require a deposit.

In a hopefully non-tacky way, I’d be a bit curious about the average (or maybe median is what I mean) spend of an H customer. I’m sure there’s plenty of people who buy a scarf or a bracelet once a year, and also a decent chunk who are decked out in RTW and H furniture, but I’m curious what would land you in the category of a typical “good” customer. I think my lifetime spend history there is an eye-watering amount, and I certainly feel valued by my SA, but I am well aware that there are people who will do the same damage in a single day!

New to Hermès. Can I ask what’s the number on the second line of the invoice mean? Should it match with the serial number in the bag?
i am recently looking to buy a Kelly danse from a reseller, don’t know how to authenticate through the the receipt and serial number the reseller sent. Thank you!!

It's difficult to say given the fact that there are so many customers and over 30 locations in the US. I would consider a customer "good" if they actually live the lifestyle rather than just spend to get bags. These type of customers tend to be recurring and often develop very good relationships with their SA's and even the management team. This leads to being top of mind for special items and/or special events.

The second line of your inv includes the ref number of the item you bought. It gives the company all the information regarding that specific item. Beware of resellers though. Some items are counterfeited extremely well and therefore very difficult to "authenticate" before purchasing. By the time an artisan has authenticated the item it would most likely be too late for the buyer.

Hi @Mr. Ex What do you mean by "actually live the lifestyle"? How would SA know or try to assess that?

this is merely a comment and not at all a complaint. And it is only my opinion. I find this lifestyle thing as a dilemma as I honestly like only birkin and kelly and maybe double sens. Those fit my wardrobe and my lifestyle. The others truly not so much. I custom-make all my jewelleries and wear only one watch at a time. Hermes RTW and homeware or furnitures are not my aesthetic either. How can I live the Hermes lifestyle then? I suppose I am one of those intended customers for the resellers.

BUT having said that, I will get lectured on fakes (authentication even from reputable stores or entity will never be 100%) and not feeding the resellers  I wonder, what can a girl like me do?

Before anyone suggesting that there are other similar bags from other brands, I have admired birkin and kelly for over 20 years for its design, not the prestige. I tried ignoring them for 20yrs and trying to find substitutes. I failed.

Your solution is simple and cost effective.
If you subscribe to the view that Hermes items are made from quality materials and built to last,
then simply trawl the sellers of genuine second-hand (avoiding the euphemism 'pre-loved') bags.
Look for a bags matching your requirements that is some years old (get authentication), buy it and enjoy it for what it is. Think of it like a piece of Meissen or Chippendale.

Thanks @WhiteBus. I agree but unfortunately I still cannot get over the idea that authentication outside Hermes itself (who doesn’t provide this service) is never 100% guaranteed. Not to mention that these second hand shops (Collector’s square for eq.) also charges an equivalent amount as the asian reseller. But I digress.

Hermes seems to provide options for everyone and for you, Paris seems like a good fit. Do realize though that their system in that case requires the client’s time and effort rather than their prespend money. Either way, H wants to remain elusive and exclusive by allowing the client to “prove themselves” in a way, and this business model works well for them (so much so that I’ve heard rumors that they intend to continue to make the Paris appointment system more and more difficult to leave successfully, and put the full focus on longer term spend…)

I would do it quickly. I experienced the same issue with an Evelyne TPM. I didn't notice it when I purchased (should have had my reading glasses on), but it was if the needle did not go through resulting in one long stitch. I told myself I could live with it. Well a couple months later I decided I couldn't. No questions asked it was sent back to H for repair. The repair took about 4 months. If you act fast I'm sure you could simply exchange it.

Another noobish question: around how long/what level of spend/how many quota bags after were some of the ladies here offered a special order? I've been shopping at my home boutique for around 2 years on and off (I go to the store once every couple few months).
I've bought two B25s and a Constance from my SA, along with around $25K of other purchases (mostly RTW and jewelry) during this time. As my spend has increased, my SA has gotten better about getting me desired items and bags off my wishlist.
I'd absolutely love a mini kelly bag in a color that's only available via SO. I've read advice here that you can ask for SOs outright, but I wanted to get a sense of when others were first able to get an SO. I also know my profile is not as strong as many other people's here.
(If this helps, my boutique is in a major US city but it's not a flagship, and from what I've seen on social media, quota bag offers are somewhat easier to get there than the average store.) Thanks!
