I work at a jewelry store and I can tell you that nothing you can buy at the store can clean that is normly cost.
You should take it to the jewelry store that the ring was bought at it should be done for free. They should also check your prongs and make sure your diamonds are tight.

Old tooth brush and a little tooth paste :)
Okay, so I'm getting married in 23 days:yahoo:but my ring is looking a little....well it needs cleaned. I feel stupid taking it to the Jeweler and asking them to clean it w/o buying anything there....so with that option set aside, does anyone know any tricks on how to clean your engagement ring? How do you clean yours?

I agree with everyone else. The jeweler where your ring was purchased will clean it and check the prongs to make sure the stone is still secure. I usually do this every six months or so.

You can also purchase a container of jewlery cleaner and clean it at home too. I try and clean all my jewelry every week. It's a liquid solution that you dip your jewlerly in for about five minutes, rinse with water and dry with a cloth. You should be able to purchase this at any jewelry store.

Are you serious? It doesn't get all gunky?? Wow! Thanks!!! And dishwashing soap also? That's cool....thanks for the suggestions!;)

Make sure it's dishwashing liquid soap (the ones the promise to take the grease out) ;) not hand liquid soap with soap. The latter tends to leave oil on the ring and thus attracting more dust and dirt....

That's awesome!!!! We do have the same wedding date!!!!! I'll bet you're getting really excited!!!! I know I am! Congrats to you!;)

Well, perhaps I will bit the bullet and get it professionally cleaned. I just feel so cheap....lol.
First of all CONGRATS!! So exciting. I go in every few mos to where i bought my setting and had it mounted. They had said to come in any time i passed by or wanted to and they would quickly throw it in the ultrasonic. They always double check the stones with a toothpick or something too. I wuold not feel bad at ALL!
With other rings i bring one or two with me when i do that or if one needs cleaned i take it when i go the mall and ask. They don;t seem to mind...I have one ring from this one store in the mall and every time i browse if i am wearing the ring i got there I've mentioned to a different salesman than the one who sold it to me not even hinting and HE ASKED me if i'd like to let him clean it quick. In moments you will love the result and be glad you did!! Good luck!

For the big day, I would DEFINITELY take it the most conveniently located jewelry store and let them clean it. This is a service that's worth it to them because while they take their time cleaning, you are BROWSING their store....You may not buy something today, but there's always tomorrow and that's potential business for them. Best of luck on a wonderful day!

I use a type of electronic gadget that I bought from the Sharper Image, but they're sold everywhere. After I ran out of their solution, I used half water and half Mr. Clean in it. Works great! I've also heard the Windex trick, I will have to try that one!

Wow, you ladies have awesome tricks!!!! I tried the dish soap one, and it worked!!!! But I think everyone is right-I should have it professionally cleaned for the big day!

I am a serious diamond cleaner myself.. I clean my diamonds at least twice a week.
I have a professional ultrasonic cleaner which I fill with water and a little windex.. does wonders. When I only have a few minutes, I use the toothbrush and toothpaste... works like a charm!
I also bring my rings in to my jeweler. They are awesome, they clean them for me while I shop in the mall and they never make me feel "guilty"... they are quite happy to do it for me!
Best wishes for a wonderful wedding day!!!

I use windex too and I like it more than dishwashing liquid. I soak it overnight in a windex and warm water solution and brush thoroughly the next day. Then I rinse and get blinded!

Don't feel cheap!! There's too much other stuff to worry about with the wedding so close!!! :yahoo:I plan on having mine cleaned where FH bought it- she told me to come back for a cleaning right before the wedding. Plus you should milk the whole "I'm a bride" thing while you can! Congrats to you too! Enjoy every second of it, I'm so excited too!!
