If that is your answer, I will not be purchasing from your site in the future. I've been a paralegal over 25 years. All I'm hearing is what we term "lawyer speak," round and round to skirt the issue and appear to answer without really doing so. I always get a charge out of it. I hope others see through it as well. Clearly, you are going to continue business with counterfeit sellers and vendors under the guise of protecting their privacy and "business practices.". Good luck with that. This is a very savvy group of customers on this site. You might be surprised what they see through and are able to read between the lines. It's pretty clear.

Basically, if you can't assure customers you are not going to continue relationships with counterfeit vendors, no one purchasing from you has any assurance they are not buying a counterfeit. I'm utterly amazed you have admitted in writing on this forum that you do not authenticate the bags you sell under your corporate name. That speaks volumes. Huge. You "vet" vendors that clearly sell counterfeits, do no in house authentication and continue selling for vendors you know have given you counterfeits? Need we know anything at all more? I think not.

Oh, wow...I know that this is an older thread but I just came across it. I am very shocked that Portero is doing these shady dealings! I thought they were reputable and had only heard good things until now. But let me share an odd experience I had with them:
Last year I bought a Croissant MM from them and as soon as I took it out of the box I knew it looked "off". It wasn't the shape of it, or the hardware or alighment or anything like that. It was the patina, or lack thereof. I looked at it closely, and I could see that the vachetta had been painted to make the bag look newer than it was! I knew at the time that the Croissant was an older style, so it struck me as odd that the vachetta should be quite that pale after so long...it was a pale pink, almost pastel! Ugh! I could tell it had been painted that color, because the pastel had covered some of the stitching and red glaze in some places. I had read online about some people who don't like patina painting their bags to keep the "new" look. I think that painting a bag completely ruins it!
So I called Portero and spoke directly to Phil...he did remove the listing entirely from the site and refund my money, but I just would have thought that someone would have seen that the vachetta was painted....thank goodness I got my money back on that one, and managed to find a great Croissant MM that hadn't been altered in any way on another site.
But not too long ago, I saw that same "painted" Croissant on a different site for sale; the seller is still trying to sell it! Unbelievable! Unfortunately I don't remember which site that was, but it's no longer on Portero.
Anyway, now that I've read this thread, I won't ever shop at Portero again. I don't trust them at all now. I just wanted to share my experience.

So Portero is Bella Bags.. I authenticated a LVoe tote and it's the same fake listed by Bella Bags. :nogood:

The e-mail I just sent to Portero:

I have learned from several sources that you are selling fake Gucci and Louis Vuitton items. I have also learned that when some of the customers notified Portero, the customers were offered misinformation and untruths; if the concerens were addressed at all. It is for these reasons that I have removed your website from my favorites and will not be doing business with you.

Interesting on the first bolded part... I did a quick google search of bella bags and portero and found a few listings ON Portero's site that also has "Bella Bags" IN the listing.

http://www.portero.com/index.php/catalog/product/view/id/218411/s/louis-vuitton-bleu-marine-monogram-addiction-lockit-vertical-bag-limited-edition-runway/

http://www.portero.com/index.php/catalog/product/view/id/219748/s/louis-vuitton-brown-leather-motard-biker-rare-limited-edition-runway-bag/

I'm not saying these are fake bags, just that Portero definitely has some type of relationship with Bella Bags.

I also didn't know about Bella Bags' reputation, but I've always heard good things about Portero? And I agree with you 100% - no matter what site, always authenticate!

Omg!

So their policy is "If we get caught selling a counterfeit item, we will refund the customer's money. Of course, we hope our customers aren't very savvy and that they will never figure it out so we can keep the money."

Just deleted their bookmark on my computer.

Thanks so much for the post. I too was among those that thought Portero was far more reputable than they appear to be. I definitely won't be perusing their website anymore!!!

Wow! I am reading this thread late, but I am AWED at the company's "if anyone suspects an item is fake, then we will refund their money (THANK GOODNESS FOR THAT)...but their attitude seems to be, we won't investigate unless prompted". This was a very informative thread. Amazing. It is reasonable for a company to say that they can't possibly check every bag a third-party vendor decides to sell on their site. What isn't reasonable is to not IMMEDIATELY start an auditing process for their vendors and demand they refund any questionable item. They should also hire a few employees to do a a "spot check" of what vendors are selling currently. It is also ridiculous that a company wouldn't think to retrain vendors on the authentication process and BAN unscrupulous vendors caught under the new policy. It may cost them (because of their own previous carelessness) to start going backwards checking for fakes, but it is unconscionable that they wouldn't think to look go out looking for it-just for their own integrity! They spent years building a reputation and for a few dollars and lack of a vetting process-they are going to lose what they gained. All you really have in this world is your name (and the fact that people trusted it). If people (not just on the TPF) think they have to watch over every word a company says and suspect everything you sell, you may as well shop elsewhere!

I'm not usually in LV but I'm so glad I came across this thread by searching "portero." I was interested in a bag on their site, and until I read this thread, I didn't think to see if maybe the same exact item was listed elsewhere. Lo and behold, it's one from bella bag! Ok, transaction AVOIDED. I really have the hardest time bringing myself to buying from resellers because of having to worry about things like this.....Uggggh! And I was *thisclose* to actually buying it. Thanks for starting this thread! Is this why "portero.com" is not listed as a link under "Where we buy"? I'm surprised Rue La La is still listed, though...
