I will leave this reminder as a sticky because tthis is often a thread that new members (or new Hermès lovers) post on - hopefully temporarily.

Just try when you get there especially if you are buying non leather items. You don’t know until you try.

Honestly, I'm considering doing my best too. I'll be in Paris for a month, so I definitely need to turn this into an advantage. However, on the other hand, despite being somewhat local (my hubby is French), I'm at a disadvantage because I don't speak French and can never convince my hubby to go to Hermès with me. I've asked my French friends to come with me because I really think language makes a negative impact. As a tourist, I'm not exactly charming enough for people to think, "Oh, let's give this girl a bag." LOL.

I don’t think you’re at a disadvantage, per se. I don’t speak a lick of French (except of hello, thank you, and goodbye!) and have had success in Paris. Could it give you bonus points, sure but it’s not a deal breaker!

I’m a believer in the type of energy and mindset you put into something is very much a factor in what you get out of it, in so many areas of life.

I do not speak French minus the traditional pleasantries, am an American tourist, and have had success over the last 10 years of traveling to Paris (quotas, walk in appointment, SO). The thought never crossed my mind that I was not going to be successful. Those types of thoughts do not cultivate the mindset I try my best to have.

Positivity out = positivity back for me at least.

Go for it!!

Spent this weekend checking out FSH and Sevres for the first time. Managed to get a walk-in appointment at Sevres and offered a mini Bolide in a colour and leather that I love, so thought it was great for a first try!

My key learnings are:
- Pre-spend doesn’t necessarily give you better chances of getting a walk-in. I bought things at both stores but were helped by SAs in non-leather departments who both said you need to apply for an appointment so I still had to try myself
- However, once you walk up to the Leather desk they do check your profile and that may influence what they offer you. The SA at FSH also alluded to spending history potentially helping increase chances for future appointments
- Walk in appointments are based on SA availability and when I was waiting for my meeting, they did turn others away, so it seems that they limit the number of people waiting at any given time

I will be back in Paris next week before flying home. Does anyone know whether my mini Bolide purchase will affect my chances of getting an appointment a week later? Can they still offer you a bag (particularly a quota bag) once they check your purchase history? Appreciate any advice! Thank you!

I think being ignored by a very negative SA many years ago created a psychological defeat in me. After that, I really couldn't succeed at all. Yes, I have a B25, my friend bought it for me. But experiencing the feeling of being able to buy it for myself is an item on my bucket list. I'm hopeful for this year. Thank you for the positive wishes.

Sharing my success story here! I am so happy because since 3 years ago, every year we go to Paris, we always return with bag(s)!

This time we were not specifically looking for a bag, just browsing through fine jewelry section at Sevres. Our SA was so nice and fun to talk to. It was Saturday near closing time and he kindly asked us to take more time to think about the fine jewelry piece since it’s really expensive and he doesn’t want us to regret purchasing it. He went to the back to meet the SM and informed us he can hold the jewelry until Monday end of day.

Monday afternoon we texted him and returned to Sevres to purchase the jewelry. Lo and behold, it was mistakenly sold to another customer and it was the last piece they have globally (because it’s a limited edition piece. Looking at us disappointed, he asked if there’s anything else we would like to get.

I mentioned I am looking for constance slim in either rouge h / rouge sellier color and he immediately checked the stock and he returned only with one box of constance slim in gold. I asked my SA if he has any wallet (even Calvi is fine) with rouge h / rouge sellier color, but he said no. I debated it for awhile with my husband and ended up saying okay because gold is neutral.

Then my SA mentioned, let me try something for you… He went back for around 10-15 minutes (we’re sipping champagne while waiting for him) and he returned with a bigger box. I gasped because I know it’s a bag!

He opened the box and showed me the most beautiful bag I have ever seen… K25 sellier in rouge H chevre with brushed gold hardware. It comes with SO stamp so I assumed the person who requested the SO rejected the bag? Anyway it means my win!!!

@birkinbaguette do you happen to know what the year stamp is for this? I know it’s a SO. I’m considering Rouge H chèvre for a possible SO and know that the colors vary from batch to batch based on the year. Thank you! 🙏

Usually I get the most positive comments on my ostrich roulis because it's not something they see all the time, and it's also stunning (IMO).

You'll see plenty of B/K/C being worn by people shopping at the Paris stores. Just wear whatever you are most comfortable with wearing.
I had a similar experience at FSH. Had a mini Lindy with my twilly tied in a bow fashion that they haven’t seen before. My SA asked how did I do it and we spent a few minutes tying twillies on my bag. I don’t think it matters what you wear but it definitely helps with making conversation :)

Hey,

I am travelling to Paris in mid of june for 4 days. I am already a verdy good customer at my local store here where I live, and have got a lot of good bags. But it would be a dream come true to get a bag from Paris as well. Do you guys know hos good the chances are? I am staying at Plaza Athenee if thats has something to say. And aslo, anybody here who knows how the weather in Paris is in june? The longterm weather forecast says rain almost every day.
Ask your local SM if she or he can arrange a leather appt in Paris for you. Though a dear friend of mine who is a VIP at her local Maison said her SA said he could not (because she really gets everything she wants from him lol), I have heard that other clients have gotten appts this way.
