Hi everyone! Just wanted to ask this for the regulars (spenders and QB folks) to Hermes Paris, is it advisable to let your SA know ahead of time what bag you are really hunting for? Specifically, would you only request after you have hit your new quota spend?

I’m not referring to leather appointment type hits as well. I’m enquiring more as a sustaining long term spender. Also, I am not referring to a fresh account.

Basically I have shopped there before and have gotten my QBs before.

Yet, through these times, I am still just not sure if I should do more shopping first before talking about my next bag or should I simply say my next target and then continue my usual shopping to pair the spend to it.

Anyone has any thoughts on which is a better approach? For context, SA and I are on good terms with personal contact but I still don’t know whether it is considered too overbearing to state so clearly what I want next.

It’s been about 8 months since my last QB.

Usually, I just hint it but I kinda feel it’s not super clear what I want. Any advice will be appreciated…
Are you looking for something super specific? If so I would tell her. 8 months has been a long enough time and you’re a regular to your sa. Bc who knows how long it would take to wait for your super specific bag. It might take another 8 months

On the other hand if you’re pretty flexible with the specs then wait till you’re closer to spend.

That’s how I would do it.

I wasn’t aware that one needs to “hit the quota spend” in Paris?

If you have already connected with an SA there’s no pre spend needed. My SA told me there should be a few months before buying another QB but never mentioned prespend. I buy what I really like and was never pressured to buy others things

Just my personal experience of course. My FSH SAs always want to know what bags I am interested in. As far in advance as possible. We don't discuss prespend and it's never seemed to affect any offers. I basically just go and purchase whatever I like or find which is in collection at the moment across whatever departments, during my appointments.

In Paris now and this kept happening to me. I was able to walk into the store and was explained the following

If you have other Hermes links open on your browser you should close them

Gmail emails work best

Maybe try a different browser - like if you’re using safari try google chrome
Thank you, for this, I have tried it but it still doesn’t work. I don’t have google chrome on my iPhone.

I would continue same as you have always done. No need to overthink. It works for you.
I make my FSH appts in advance, and I just go and shop. If I see something I love, that is in my comfort zone (in terms of price and usage), I buy it. Otherwise, I just have fun chatting and looking. The advantage of a regular SA is that there will always be a next time,

Okay….another succes story! I got a bag offer. Will share more details later but OMG my heart is racing like crazy
I’ll try to keep it short but forgive me if this is going to be a long read.
Before the trip:
- Applied for the leather appointment on Saturday with two passports (husband and mine)

We didn’t get the mail to confirm and thus not counted as a submission. ( I’ve contacted customer service about this and was later told to clear cache and try another browser.)

Monday
We arrived early morning. Checked in, had breakfast, We walked past FSH at opening. There was already a long queue we decided not to go in. In the afternoon we past George V. As mentioned in another post this was not vibing with us. We went back to our hotel and I tried to apply for the leather appointment for Tuesday. This time one submission didn’t get through so I decided to walk in. I had lovely encounters with the 2 SA’s who helped me at several departementale. I didn’t inquire about the bags. I bought a belt and bracelet, low stock on SLG. I will add some pictures later this week when we get home. The second SA who helped me walked with me to the leather appointment desk to ask the SA in charge of the appointments about the failed submission. I just mentioned if she knew why the submissions didn’t go through during and what to do about it. At the leather appointment desk, I greeted the SA in French. Asked how his day was so far and explained in French that although I can understand French my speaking skills are very bad. Everytime I would asked the SA’s if they would mind speaking English. I noticed that this little extra was appreciated a lot. So we continued in English and the SA was very understanding, told me he would get IT on it and than asked me what kind of bag I was looking for. A little surprised I couldn’t get my thoughts straight. I told him it would be a dream if I could get a B. and stopped. He smiled and said everyone does and started asking for more details. He then asked for my profile and said he would send me a confirmation for an appointment. That is when another customer cut in and said she was the one who is more entitled to the appointment because she inquired about it earlier. Such an nasty attitude of entitlement. I felt so bad and was embarrassed about it. This was exactly the drama that made me avoid Hermes in the first place. Without thinking I said to the SA it was okay that there was no BKC stock. thanked him and walked the few steps to the counter to pay for my items. I did feel like I missed out on my bag offer afterwards but I was feeling so uncomfortable. I got a business card and request to come back again later this week but then in the morning.

Tuesday:
Applied for Wednesday and I walked in at FSH around 11:30 but left right away as it was crowded and I didn’t spot the SA’s who helped me. By now I was like. Tried but it wasn’t meant to be. DH took me to Cartier. ❤️ (I think he was glad he didn’t had to witness the craziness). Around 4pm we visited Sevres as I wanted to see the boutique. Spoke with a senior SA about the history of the boutique. He was quite surprised. We only spoke about the history and architecture. It was quiet in the boutique and I opted not to ask for any leather appointment cancellations. We walked out. It was a bit breezy and then my husband told me he would like a stole. We went back in and we bought a beautiful gris stole for him. Nice SA but I sensed that a bag wasn’t possible.
No leather appointment for Wednesday.

Wednesday/today
The last day for me to try. The weather forecast was very bad: showers in the afternoon, I decided to go in at 10:30 am. I arrived at 10.18am and I was 8th in line. At opening I went straight to the desk, greeted the SA and asked if there were cancellations. The SA peaked at her tablet and said No, not atm. check again when you have time So that was that. I went upstairs to the fine jewellery. Browsed and was then greeted by a senior lady. She was very helpful and tried to find me the pieces I’d asked for. She was able to help me at all departments but no bags without permission from the manager. We chatted a lot about life, children and our backgrounds. I told her it was our first trip away without the children. She showed me the items I’d asked for. Than she asked me what else she could help me with. We went to the RTW and she got me what I asked for. All the rooms were occupied thus she brought me to the VIP room. I tried on the items. She then told me she was going to try to get me a bag but she needed the approval from the manager. (The manager will screen your profile with Hermes in Paris. The pre-spend does help to get you the approval. RTW and fine jewellery will help you build your profile more than shoes and scarves.)

Meanwhile the SA was gone for quite some time and all that time I was sitting there not sure what to make of it. I was happy she did need some time but also worried that there was nothing.
But eventually she did came back with a box! She asked me to follow her. We were looking for a more secluded spot and then she showed me what she had. A K32 Gold with GHW in Togo leather. I’m over the moon with it. She asked if everything need to be shipped to my hotel. But my husband had came in to escort me back. I’m still in an awe and thankful for the bag offer.

Congrats on your new Birkin!!

In Paris for the week with no H profile, had no luck with lottery appointment.. walked into George V store first time in my life, I had a lizard birkin with me (a gift from my late mother in law) and was offered an appointment on the spot… I asked for a constance 18. was asked if I would like crocodile or exotic. I said ostrich is only exotic I’d like, or a normal leather. I walked out with an ostrich constance 18 in limoncello with PHW. It is simply stunning!! I am well aware that this is a super rare situation and I can’t quite believe my luck. SA was very kind and thoughtful, considering what I was wearing, my taste etc (fun & playful). SA didn’t give me her card so no idea how it works for the future, or how any relationship can be built… but delighted at my luck first time in an Hermes store.

Love your story. I am so happy you got such a classic bag. i think good manners; a proper greeting; and consideration make a difference. When i have seen locals with their bags in Europe, they tend to be 30/32/35 sizes, and 32 is perfect. ETA: I would have been embarrassed at the rudeness of the woman who cut in front of you and claimed ‘more entitlement’ too.
