I will leave this reminder as a sticky because tthis is often a thread that new members (or new Hermès lovers) post on - hopefully temporarily.

had a chat with a Hermes SA at Bordeaux today and she said it’s impossible to do a refund for an online order and repurchase at Paris store. Not sure if this true ☹️ I can only find the item I want online and I would like to get VAT refund.

Went to George V, met a nice SA but told me no - can’t do tax refund for online orders…its a rules and regulation across all Hermes outlets

Agree with @jimmyshoogirl . Then I recalled that I did read somewhere (presumably this thread) that legally there is an issue with return/repurchase (purchase online at Hermes.com and return and repurchase for VAT credit) but I could not find that post when I did a search. (Perhaps another TPFer who is better at the search engine might come up with the post)

However, I did recall that one outlet in Paris did not do it, and that other boutiques refused. Above posts are the only ones that I could come up with. So I compiled both in this post in case someone else does a search. Different stores have different ways of doing things and what seems like it should be a company wide policy differs. Annoying for us, but variation in how things are done from store to store seems standard for Hermes, for better or worse. Glad you were able to get it done.

Also I found this, my emphasis added. Not sure if this is a courtesy bc of other items purchased at the boutique or not:
i purchased some SLGs on French website to be picked up at FSH. The SA who assisted me with an in-store purchase was able to have cashier update my online purchases with my in-store purchase so I would get VAT also on my online purchases, too. They didn't refund the online purchases, just did some kind of paperwork to include it for the VAT refund.
From my experience, if they have the shoe and size online, I would order it. There are very limited sizes and even styles in the boutiques during the days I was in Paris. I regret not ordering some sandals I saw online because I thought I'd see it in store. Plus, there was always a wait to get an SA to help you if you wanted to know about stock and/or try on shoes in the boutiques.
(I was there about 3weeks ago. It was week of mens fashion week.)

Ok, I’ve been slacking but here is the promised photo of my little Paris haul.

I’ve been home for a little over a week now, but between cancelled flights (it took 29 hours to get home. On the plus side my body had no idea what time it was supposed to be so I just had a day of crushing exhaustion rather than jet lag), lost (and thankfully found) luggage (all my H items were safe with me) and back to work, I just haven’t found the time before now.

Bracelet: Mini Kelly Double Tour in Bleu Jean with PHW.

My no appointment Picotin 18 in Rose Texas with PHW.

My non H high end purchase: Medium Loewe Puzzle Fold Tote in Warm Desert.

No RTW this trip, but I did buy quite a bit of Mango, it is ridiculously expensive in Canada compared to EU prices.

Already planning out my next trip, looking for some sneakers, boots, possibly a sweater, and of course a bag if I can score an appointment!

Hello, has anyone had any issues with receiving the auto email where you click the link to register your application for an appointment in Paris? I’ve never had any issues previously but during the last week or so, I’ve not even received the email.

It did that for us once at the beginning of August when we did both applications for the day on the same phone. We received the email for the first one, but not the second one.

Once we used both phones to apply it didn’t happen again.

I assume you checked your spam. Might be worth trying a different email address.

Thank you for responding - unfortunately I only have one personal email address. Could I get away with using my husbands email address but using my passport details?

Currently in Paris. Had an appointment with the SA I met last October on the 2nd day of our trip. She surprised my sister and I with our dream bag at the end of our shopping trip- Birkin 30 Togo black with PHW and black Kelly 28 with GHW Sellier in Veau Madame photos to follow when we unbox. We got lucky because all of the items we asked for were in stock. ❤️️
