I will leave this reminder as a sticky because tthis is often a thread that new members (or new Hermès lovers) post on - hopefully temporarily.

Sadly recently it seems despite having a leather appointment, they will usually only sell you a non quota bag unless u buy other stuff (fine jewelry/homewares etc) . So lets just say “leather appointment” really means a chance to buy an H bag, not necessarily a chance to buy a birkin or kelly. In hindsight, you do have more chances in Paris to get a B or K on “one leather appointment visit” versus (multiple visits with an SA in US and prespending other H items with US SA).

Doesnt apply to all. Sometimes it’s all about luck too.

If there's something to buy that you like, I think that's one thing. But folks who think some magic formula of purchases or spend is going to get them what they desire is setting the stage for disappointment.

I can only speak to my personal experience but I have never been made to feel there that if I bought something it was somehow "help my chances" in any way in getting an appointment, or a bag. This was previous to the lottery system and in recent years.

Obviously, each person's experience can vary. Each salesperson is an individual and might have their own way of approaching a client relationship and we can clearly see anecdotes on this forum of individuals having very different experiences from one another.

I totally agree with @nakedmosher2of3. When my husband got me a leather appointment, I was offered two Birkin 25's but only because we really didn't care for the color of the first one. The SA spent some time getting to know us and was so kind. Before we got the leather appointment through the lottery system, I had only purchased scarves and a leather belt in Paris over a span of seven years so I did not spend a lot of money with Hermes. Funny thing is I'm so impressed with Hermes I even bought the stock.

He has his WhatsApp information but they didn't communicate there, just through texting. His WhatsApp is showing he hasn't been on the app for a month or so. That's why I'm trying to get a firm answer on the international texting. And unfortunately, he didn't get his email, just his WhatsApp and cell.
One of my SAs at FSH was not on WhatsApp for a few weeks and I assumed she had left the company but it turns out she was just on vacation! Hopefully he texts back soon!

I was dressed non hermes, carrying my Lindy 26 only and I got a Birkin. Another time I had still my Lindy (I dont bring any K or B in Paris, too stressed about robberies) and I had more H accessories like shoes, belt, bracelets ... and I scored nothing.

I have seen ladies very well dressed with H RTW or Designer's getting nothing and others in legging + sneakers from popular brand like New balance or Nike, getting a quota bag.

I dont think it matters :) Come with an outfit you feel comfortable with. Being natural has more chance to lead to an offer than acting or pretending :)
Agree. I think SAs usually smell desperation and being phony. Just be yourself.

The SA may not use WhatsApp as often as iMessage/text, is a personal preference.
If your husband texted him from the local number, just have him text from the number he uses now and mention that’s his number when home.
Alternatively, send the WhatsApp message and take it from there.
The France number only works while he’s in there. Back home, in the States, it does not. He’s already messaged him on WhatsApp but since it’s showing he hasn’t been on the app I don’t believe he’s seeing the messages.

Possibly silly question but if I am traveling with friends who don’t care for shopping but they’re helping me with lottery attempts with their passport#’s, in the lucky chance someone gets an appt, does the “winning” passport holder have to come with me or can I go in their place without them?

Hello yes, the person who gets the appointment has to be present and has to make the payment.

Hermès SAs (and Chanel FWIW) in France usually use the H business WhatsApp account. It's still a direct message, but it's a business account, not personal, so the number may be different from an SA's personal phone number.
Many also use two phones, personal and business.

I have one SA who refuses to use text or WhatsApp at all because it's too much incoming "noise", and they stick to email.

Thank you. Your response prompted me to ask my DH if the cell and WhatsApp are two different numbers, I thought they were, but they are the same.

I had a Paris trip planned when my DH was there and the SA said to let him know when everything’s booked and he’d setup an appointment. I will just go in the boutique at the start of my trip and hopefully he’ll be able to setup an appointment for some time while I’m in town.

Hello all. I am planning a visit to Paris in late August/early September. My husband and I both have dual nationality and we are planning to try our luck and apply for an appointment with 4 passports, so I was wondering, if my Schengen visa is on one passport and not the other, does this matter when I'm paying for the bag? And another thing, someone mentioned the passport holder has to pay. I rely on my husband financially and don't have any credit cards or bank account of my own. If I get an appointment under my passport, is it ok if my husband pays with his credit card?

(P.S. all of this is assuming everything goes according to plan and I get offered a bag I like which I'm aware might not happen. I just like being prepared.)

You should have your husband make you an authorized user on one of his credit cards so they send you a card with his account number and your name (forget about Hermes, you should have this for just living daily life).
