I will leave this reminder as a sticky because tthis is often a thread that new members (or new Hermès lovers) post on - hopefully temporarily.

I totally agree with you @QuelleFromage. When I was in Paris in November, I was able to connect with many SAs - a constant theme was how it can be challenging and exhausting with all the customers and satisfying their expectations. I also understand how the lottery system can drum up excitement, hope, and perhaps expectations for a dream bag (that may be impossible for some people, otherwise). To your point, leaning in to understand the SA perspective may help ease some of the disparity.
I heard the same thing from multiple staffers in Paris when I was there in October. From the SA helping me in shoes to the cashier checking me out expressed that they were stressed. All were very courteous and friendly though.

It’s not just Paris; I’ve actually heard the same sentiments from both my SA’s in the US (different cities). Both have told me how super stressful their job can be and how some clients are so rude to them. One SA told me they needed to seek therapy due to the psychological stress.

So I agree with @QuelleFromage and @KristinS to try to see things from the SA’s perspective. While it doesn’t give them a free pass to be rude or unprofessional with clients, I do think it would help everyone all around to try to see things from another perspective.

Happy new year everyone! I hope we all get something off our wish list next year! I’m going back to Paris in February- can’t wait to visit my favorite city again!

You were totally rooting for me and it worked!! I seriously enjoyed the city so much that I’m sure nothing would’ve made it a bad experience!

Slightly OT but how much were the Kelly belts in Paris? I still haven’t been able to get one!
Yes! Im happy you got what you wanted :drinks:Gahhh I wish I knew the price of the Kelly belts! It was the one item I couldn’t get at any of the stores! If anyone knows, we would love to hear! It’s not on the French website.

I’m debating about buying it in the US….they are available online sporadically.
The Kelly belt is €750

Anyone heard/encountered that if you didn't make any purchase in last two years, the account purchase history or account itself would be gone ? One of my friends went to Faubourg this year and couldn't find her account, was told by the SA and cashier b/c the last purchase she made was in 2019, her account is gone. She had to open a new account which lost all previous history. BTW, she never asked for bags in Paris.

Your SA's phone holds purchases from the last two years. The back office or "downstairs", as my SA says, can see your full history.

Your comment on screening for resellers resonates with me. Since I was a new Hermes customer, I was hyper aware of myself during my leather appointment....I didn't want to do or say anything during the appointment that would suggest to the SA i would resell anything (I am not a reseller). I did make purchases my first day on this trip, so hopefully that helped. While my SA was looking for bags, I noticed there were a camera pointing down at my appointment table...not sure if other tables at FSH had cameras at their tables, but it made me so paranoid that I was being observed for reseller behavior. Needless to say, I didn't touch my phone at all during the wait and made every effort to make sure I wasn't displaying a RBF (resting b**** face)! It wasn't until my SA asked me if I wanted to take photos in the private room, that my cell phone came out! :P

On a side note, the bag I was offered matched the color of the sweater I was wearing that day...I wonder if they were checking out the way I dressed to help pick the color for my offer...
OMG! That will freak me out! The SA who helped me said that they do observe and follow people in the store. I’m glad I didn’t noticed a camera. I went with my family and while waiting we looked at pictures of my dog. When the SA came we shared the pics with her. I did get a K25

I stare at pictures of my dog too (but didn’t that day at the store)! Something so relaxing seeing a cute fluffy face with that expression saying that they love you

Did the SA say who typically watches? The SA him/herself or the store manager? Or maybe even security? Having gone by myself I was hyper sensitive about my surroundings haha

P.S. happy to know my paranoia wasn’t misplaced lol!

She just said they look at everyone who comes in the store.

Yes this is true. But if they really wanted to, they can find the entire purchase history on the main computers. Not the handheld Hphones. Senior staff have access and I guess it also helps to have multiple SAs who already know the customer, at the store.

This setup is really weird, cuz when she put in the information of herself, the handheld h phone couldn't find her in the system. I guess my friend should go and ask for a merge instead having two accounts in France. Also heard that Faubourg can see global purchase history.

Yes I am not sure why they decided to chuck out purchase history prior to Covid, but Hermes IT has hardly impressed me ever. My FSH accounts have been all over the place and each time I update my new residential addresses and request for merge but we still find 3 accounts at the next visit. I have been posting that last bit for ages but most people don't really want to believe it. Happy New Year!

I’m sorry to read about your experience too  I think we might have got the same SA. Mine was a younger Asian female also, long lashes. Had a lot of hope also and felt super lucky scoring an appointment online. Don’t know where it went wrong as I was polite and genuinely keen to buy something even a cute Picotin in neutrals if b & k not available but kind of surprised that the only ones in stock were the ones she brought out. I actually liked the herbag she brought out more than I thought but said could you give me a minute to think and ask my husband what he thinks as he was just browsing around the corner and she blatantly pretty much said no and that appointments times are limited or that she has no time or something along those lines. I was speechless lol. I said okay no problem. And thanked her for her time. Then she said she’ll prepare it and leave it in my name and if I wanted it to request it at the front cashier.
I'm pretty sure we had the same SA. The only bag she offered me was a bolide 25 in gray. When I asked what kind of gray... she simply said "it's gray".

Overall it just seemed like she was uninterested to help and unprofessional.

It's the same for a friend in Germany. 3 accounts (2 of hers and 1 with her husband) and H has been unable to merge...
