I will leave this reminder as a sticky because tthis is often a thread that new members (or new Hermès lovers) post on - hopefully temporarily.

I am really curious about being blocked if you don't show up or do they not accept more submissions for a time? I have a trip coming up and would like to try for the lottery on my day of arrival, but if I get an early appointment I won't be able to make it.
We have no way of knowing the answer to this. It’s been speculated that getting a successful lottery appointment, whether you show up or not, will block you from “winning” another one for some time but we don’t have enough data points as generally people stop trying once they are successful (as their Paris trip is typically over at that point). That being said, I don’t think the appointment times are held that strictly. If you get an early appointment and still show up later in the day, as long as it’s the same day, I think they will serve you.

Honestly I don’t think they will black list you only because you couldn’t make it. At least never heard about such a case :)

Hello! Can I ask, does it matter what time one applies for an appointment on the Hermes website? The SA at the FSH leather goods counter has told me that it doesn’t matter whether I do it at 1030 or 4.30pm, and even encouraged me to do it later as there would be less people trying to fill the form at the time. I’ve tried it just at 1230, but was met with the dreaded message that too many people have applied for the day. Thanks in advance and apologies if this has been covered before!

Not sure if time matters (or if it’s rolling admission like Ivy League applications lol)
I think some posts have answered this question of getting the message with the advice to just keep trying?
Good luck!

I read many pages back on this thread…that the SAs each get discretion to allocate 1 appointment per day. Separate from lottery. I think that’s how people get appointments outside of the lottery. And I bet it’s also dependent on availability (meaning if some of the appointments wrap faster than the allocated hour per person so that off book appointments can happen ).

I am aware that you need an appointment if you are hoping to purchase a handbag but wanted some clarification as to whether or not you need an appointment in any of the three stores to purchase other items or to browse. We will be traveling to Paris towards the end of April and I am aware that things can change between now and then but was wondering wha the situation is currently. TIA!

Hi @Goodfrtune as far as I know, the appointment is necessary only to buy bags, but I will leave to other TPF members to confirm
I also have a question: in your experience, is August a ‘good month’ to visit the stores or would it be better to postpone the visit, cause there will likely be less stock during summer?
many thanks!

Yes, appointment needed for any bags.

Prior to the pandemic, I was able to get a Birkin and Kelly when I traveled to France in August during different years and stock seemed just as good and plentiful as any other month but with the stock shortage today its a whole different story-- every month is currently bad now.

Tried for 10 days and was rejected for all of those. Tried walking in and asking for leather appointment cancellations and it was impossible to get. They were pretty busy too! I guess better luck next time.
I managed to get an appointment the last day for non Quota bags. They looked up my profile and said they could give me one. I ended up buying a mini Evelyne. Overall, pretty difficult to get a chance even without an appointment, but at the end I got a bag so I am happy.

There is a team of SAs, only at FSH, who only take appointments from their assigned/ known long-time clients. It's an extremely small group but they are the ones who schedule appointments throughout the day and I assume take extra online/ walk-in clients/ clients introduced from their stores abroad, if they have extra time in between. There are members here whose SAs fall under this group (that includes me), they do not belong to any of the departments and work across the store.
In other news. A little bird told me Anemone, Rose Azalee, Rose Shocking is back as well as Framboise in shiny Croc. I have not asked about new colours.
Certain SMs are currently in Paris doing their store buys (PO). It's not the normal schedule apparently. IDK.

Hi @Everlong, thank you very much for you reply, will take this into account when booking: it seems that an August trip is not a bad idea after all

The 3 stores require an appointment for bags, quota or non-quota. You can walk in for anything else or just to have a look. It probably won't change by April... or ever!
