I will leave this reminder as a sticky because tthis is often a thread that new members (or new Hermès lovers) post on - hopefully temporarily.

It comes to my chance to share my long story in Paris H after following this thread for years, since I bought and then cancelled my flight to Paris due to the pandemic in early 2020.

I learnt that everything could happen (good and bad) in Paris H from this thread. Although having high hopes, at the same time, I managed my expectations and kept a peace of mind about the lottery system and walk-in appointments.

I started registering for the lottery system upon my arrival to London 3 days before Paris. I arrived on Sunday, so literally, I applied 2 times before arriving in Paris. On Wednesday, I arrived in Paris in the afternoon (of course I also registered for the lottery). Tried asking for a walk-in appointment in FSH. It wasn't too busy. Received a straight NO from the man with the iPad without checking anything. I left and headed to George V because I didn't have much time before the stores closed.
There's a line outside George V. The line moved fast. I was let in the store after about 20min. The hostess asked what I wanted to see and asked me to wait. This wait was long, I would say it's about 30-45min. The store was not as crowded as expected but obviously no available SA at the moment as they were all escorting somebody. During the wait, I browsed around and observed the interactions between the SAs and the customers. There was an SA helping 2 ladies to ask the hostess for a leather appointment. It was interesting to see this really happened. But they got a NO. Finally I was assigned an SA. Asked to try on a few pieces of fashion accessories. The SA kept looking at the phone replying to messages when I tried on the pieces. I decided to take one of those and made the payment. I asked the SA casually about bags and got a reply that only through the online lottery system.
The magical moment happened after I left, took pictures of the Arc de Triomphe and Eiffel Tower, and was walking to the restaurant for dinner. An email "Your appointment is confirmed!" popped on my phone!!!!!! So It's the 3rd attempt. The appointment was in George V.
On the next day, I arrived George V at the time of the appointment. Showed the hostess (different one from the day before) the SMS (yes, the confirmation came in both email and SMS) and was let in. A SA looked for me and asked the question that I longed for, "What can I help you today?". I've been direct and told the SA my long wishlist. I expressed that I'd be happy with any one of the listed bags. The SA came back in 10min and brought me to a secret room upstairs. When the door opens, there's a box. I was relieved. At least I was offered something (There were too many stories of having a leather appointment but getting no bag). It was a Constance 1 24 etoupe GHW. I tried and accepted in a minute. The appointment was finished within an hour.
I also visited Sevres on this trip. However, the experience was not as nice as expected. There's no line and I was let in freely. I was not sure how to get a SA in the store as most SAs looked busy and some SAs, might be managers or in charge, were not answering questions. Also tried to ask for a walk-in appointment. A straight NO again. So I left after a short stay.

I do not believe I am such a lucky person for the lottery system. I strongly believe it's something related to my purchase on the first day, although it's only a 250EUR purchase. What do you think?

I also noticed here that people buying items one day often received a positive answer for the next day. I tried a few times... but that didn't work for me  And now (like today), I simply forget to apply after a purchase!

Are you in Paris for travelling or are you staying there so maybe more chances are coming?
Hi everyone, me and my partner have been trying to get the appointment thru the lottery since May! We both live in EU but not in France, the whole September I literally tried every day with no luck whatsoever. Same for October, nearly every day rejection. I don’t really understand that system
I live in Paris. And I tried to apply since last December, not everyday... but more than 40 times and no luck.

On the lottery system....it makes no difference whether you succeed on the first time or the 100th. Your chance is the same every time you apply - one chance out of the number of applicants accepted for the draw. It is the law of probability.

If your chance of winning grew bigger each time you tried, everyone would play the literal lotteries that some countries and states have. But chance does not work that way.

(If the lottery is "rigged" as many believe, that is a different thing. But we have never seen any evidence to show that this is the case.)

If you can take a break of a few days like a week. I did it and work for me got an appointment at my first try after that. It was recommended by someone from the customer service.

I do believe that attempts are save for a month. The fact that those day a lot of peoples try like you and me don’t help.

Hello, Do you receive an email asking you to click a link to confirm when you get the appointment? The wording is confusing but looks different than a rejection. I think I messed this up. Help! I just received a rejection and hoping it’s not because I didn’t click on the original link asking me to confirm.

You need to click on the email link to validate the email. You get a rejection mean you did it.
