I will leave this reminder as a sticky because tthis is often a thread that new members (or new Hermès lovers) post on - hopefully temporarily.

And just like that, @880 christened the term 'purse Karen' (and used it oh so accurately).:giggle:
Very interesting that only a few days after that disaster of Part I article from Purse Karen (part 2 to come?) bragging about her 9 leather items, the chief editor of that publication writes an article about the "realities" of Paris shopping.

"This online booking system is Hermès’s attempt to eliminate long lines outside the boutiques. Perhaps it is also an attempt to demo cratize the system. It just doesn’t work. Not all shoppers are equal, even in this supposedly blind lottery system."

Perhaps she should talk to her co-author about how her and her daughter's "trip to end all trips" contributes to the "unequalness" of this system?

I quickly visited FSH today as I noticed that my hand cleansing gel was empty. It was quite busy, but I've seen worse. I bought the gel, then strolled around for a few minutes. Nobody at the SLG corner so I asked for a few items but they didn't have what I was looking for, 2 SAs said now in August, there won't be a lot of restock (especially for bags, SLGs should be better) and then I left. 10 minutes after, I remembered that tomorrow is my bday (!), maybe I should have made puppy eyes and asked if any appointment was possible:angel: So I tried online but I could smell the rejection from the moment I applied:lol:
Happy birthday @Martyp :yahoo::smile:

Is anyone else wondering how that purse Karen got thru customs with 9 bags? Did she smuggle them in, pay duty, I’m curious. Doesn’t she live in the USA?
She’d have to declare the purchases and depends if customs has her pay taxes.

Sorry if off topic - I finally read the article and there are inconsistencies on the second appt because her daughter is wearing the same dress as in the first appt. And it’s summer. Idk maybe it’s just me where clothes goes to the wash or dry cleaners after one wear.

I'm sorry BUT....
You are talking about wanting a BAG!!!!!
A luxury item you don't actually NEED-
You are not talking about a loved one needing a kidney transplant!
"Pain and Suffering" "misery" Ask Forgiveness from god?!!!!
Sheesh:frown:!
Get a grip Man!!!!
NOBODY FORCED YOU TO GO TO FRANCE IN SEARCH OF A BAG!!!!!!
You seriously need to look at yourself and get a reality check.

You are literally one of my favorite ppl on here. Thank you.

The answers:

“We have no bags at all“
“Do you have H bag before? Which colour? I try to check. * 10 mins later * so sorry we do not have any bag”
“WE HAVE NO BAG, NOTHING… NOTHING… SO MANY PEOPLE COME HERE. WE HAVE NO BAGS”
“Unfortunately I have nothing to offer for you”
“I am so sorry sir the production of the bag is very limited, and the demand is very high. So have nothing in stock.”
“We don’t have any bags right now”

Really? What do they sell then?
I saved my money only to get ‘a bag’. I am the customer. But their marketing system made it feels like impossible to get one.

It would be different story if I was a Bryanboy maybe. I hate this kind of thing. They make us suffer in getting what we want.

I was wondering do they train all of their SA to lie? Do the SAs feeling guilty in telling a lie? Most of the SAs are heartless even after hearing my stories. They just do not care.

And one thing when I was in Montecarlo, Monaco (the epicenter of rich ppl). I saw someone getting a B25, Noir, GHW. Unboxed in front of my eyes as I entered the store. But then the SA said they have no bag. BS!

If you are Hermes SA and you are reading this. Ask the forgiveness from God! You have no idea how much pain and misery you put myself into in my journey to get H bags. I swear to God it wasn’t a pleasant experience.
There is no journey. There is only appreciation.

Not only appreciation for the beautiful creations of the House, but appreciation for the hard working SAs who continue to stay at H bc they appreciate their position, the company, the brand, the products, the leadership, and the storied history.

I’ve been fortunate to have offers. I’ve also been fortunate enough to *not* have offers and taken the time to find other pieces in the store (jewelry, scarves, etc.) that catch my eye.

If this is the attitude one brings to an online forum, I genuinely hope this isn’t the same attitude brought to the store.

To be fair, while the poster's words may have been strong, and his anger towards SAs misdirected - maybe it's due to how this global forum uses English words and tones differently, or maybe it's really the raw emotions of just coming back from another empty-handed trip from Paris... I do very sincerely empathize with the level of effort it takes to get QBs and NQBs these days.

The poster mentioned that he would've even been happy with a picotin 18 or evelyn TPM. These are hot bags, but not so hot that they're reach-for-the-stars bags like BKCs. To live in a country without an H boutique, go to France and visit 6 stores around the country (multiple trips in Paris, it sounds like), with pre-spend purchases, and come back empty-handed bags-wise would indeed have been quite frustrating.

For myself, we visited 9 boutiques in Europe on our trip, and only got lucky bag-wise in Paris at our last stop. It made the trip and the experience MAGICAL for me - I'm just the "dear husband", without any understanding for H prior to the trip whatsoever, only tagging along because I wanted to make the dw happy, and look at me now - going to H boutiques around the country by myself, perusing tpf every few hours (now recognizing some of my favorite tpf'ers' usernames and seeking out their posts for wisdom), smiling at the small (but hopefully growing) pile of H receipts that sits on my desk, etc., etc.

We all have our views on whether this selling system of H is wonderful or insufferable, but if you care enough to be in this forum, I sincerely wish you the same level of joy that I got in France (and my subsequent brand loyalty). I'll be forever grateful to the "Paris loophole" for getting me started into the brand in such a memorable way.

And so conversely, I can totally understand if someone pins their optimism on a big orange box on a magical trip to France but comes back empty-handed after all that expense and effort. It's like waiting all year to get your picture with Mickey on your Disney trip but spending the whole weekend there and not running into him. Which is why I do feel my heart strings pulled with the posts (not just this one we're talking about) that talk about going to Paris and not getting an appointment (or not getting a QB at an appointment).

(And no, I share no joy for experiences like Purse Karen's vaccuuming up 9 leather goods in one week - and worse, the tone-deaf bragging that comes with it.)

For those who have gotten appointments, is there any flexibility on time? I’ve seen people say their time got moved up or pushed back, but I will be taking the Eurostar from the UK and am not sure if I should try for an appointment that day or not — especially if it gives me an extra chance at losing the appointment lottery

I noticed and thought the same!!

Regarding that particular poster, there are Hermes boutiques in Indonesia, but they are competitive and prices are high in part due to Indonesia’s Luxury Tax. It was a choice to go to Paris twice as, based on my reading of the posts, he wanted a special experience of getting a dream bag from Paris/France. And unfortunately, as the bags wanted are highly popular models and colours (not to mention it is relatively uncommon for a guy to wear the mini bags mentioned), as a new client, it is easy to be mistaken for a reseller.

Personally I am not romantic enough to find anything magical or special in buying a bag, but I do enjoy reading the stories and experiences here, and are happy for those who successfully get a bag on their trips. However, at the end of the day, these are really just luxury goods and we are all extremely blessed to be able to shop H and/or travel in search of a bag

There are 2 stores in Jakarta, but stocks are very low unless you’re a VIP.
No bags are available. They only have men’s travel bags on display. There’s a Croco Picotin 18 (dark brown) but it’s $$$$$$$
