I will leave this reminder as a sticky because tthis is often a thread that new members (or new Hermès lovers) post on - hopefully temporarily.

Hi all! I am just wondering - I would like to go check out some shoes and accessories (and assuming I won’t be able to score a leather appointment anyway as I only have one free day in Paris), if I got to FSH 15min before opening, do you think I’ll be able to get helped right away with minimal wait? (Really would like to avoid waiting so I can use the time to do other things in Paris!) or should I do 30min before opening?
Back in May the SA who helped mentioned that was the best time since they have good stock. Right before opening.

That blogger article is the worst and really confirms my suspicion that Hermes in actuality does love resellers. They keep talking about "flipping," I mean really? They try to put on a facade that they don't want their bags to get into reseller hands, but in reality they will sell to whoever helps their profit.
I also found it annoying how the writer kept saying ‘she flipped for this bag’, ‘I did not flip for it’. No idea what this means but to me it just sounds like ‘flipping for profit’, which would be fitting given how many bags they hoarded. It probably isn’t what she meant, but annoying nonetheless.

In no way do I support the article or the author but in their context (the article), they mean flipped out meaning they were excited.

+1 with @Book Worm . In this context the blogger meant something else

but, I believe while the official H party line is hate resellers
in actuality, it’s a different matter. the ability to resell keeps bag values very high and encourages new customers.
I also sometimes wonder if resellers are supplied by some of H‘s oldest customers

Ohhhhhhh. I did not realize that. I though that were brazenly bragging about reselling! I guess this makes it less awful .

I actually don't blame FSH. Not even the fact that she was offered many items. Again, good for her. Well... maybe a tiny bit Hermès just because they easily come out with their usual elaborated speech about how things work, limits, quotas, appointments, "no stock", etc... We know these "policies" oh-so well and we know they aren't applied to everybody and well, it's their business, they can run it as they want to. She proudly proved them wrong on this one and exposed that to everybody (maybe without realizing it) I just find that woman's frenzied behavior not very elegant and that's not my standard, especially when it comes to a house like Hermès. This is more like a "Target on Black Friday" attitude to me.
I was offered a QB and several non QBs last week in Bordeaux. I turned down the QB because the combo was not for me but did buy 2 non QBs. The SA first had to ask the store manager (since the store is pretty small, I guess they want to keep some stock for other clients. At least, that was my immediate thought, but maybe that's not the reason. Maybe I'm too considerate and empathetic of other clients:angel: ) and he agreed. I was very pleased and satisfied. Not for a second I imagined coming back the next day and ask for more.
Just a difference of consumer habits I guess. Distinguished VS mass.
Going to Bordeaux in October....it sounds like the SAs are nice? It was classy and thoughtful of you turn down the QB!

I will not dispute the quality of their info (+/-), but I am by no means a fan, having been personally (and verifiably) plagiarized by them (and by “them” I mean the website, not this particular author). Those guides you like? At least one was a direct ripoff of mine.

They trade on getting themselves confused with PurseBlog (hence the very-similar sounding names), among some other unsavory practices, and I’m sure at least a sizeable amount of their information comes from here.

With regards to the article, I don’t think this author mentioning that they are a “writer” made any difference in whatever FSH experience they wrote about (I personally only check the website to see if they have stolen my work again). I’m tempted to read it just to know what is being discussed, but you don’t have to take everything written from a ‘personal’ perspective at face value. It sounds like they’ve left something important out here.

You know what would help? Stop giving them your attention (or at least take what they write with a grain of salt). PurseBlog is the original and still by far the best! Is there something you’d like to see? My DMs are always open for article suggestions (working on several right now).

Oh, and for the record - I try to write as inclusively as possible. I dont remember ever writing about a personal shopping experience (Maybe? BUT I did write a real Paris Shopping Guide for y’all - nearly fell out of my chair when I saw they recently used a similar title but at least the content is completely different). So far my worst offenses seem to be misspellings (autocorrect, my forever nemesis, plus the H website doesnt always use accents). If you ever don’t like something I have written and/or have a useful suggestion, please DM me.

Now, back to Paris shopping! Good luck to everyone heading over there!
I 100% concur...alot of their "stories" and/or "personal shopping" experiences seems embellished. Especially the regular articles the website's author emails out are just taken from other sites like South China Morning Post or Bloomberg, etc (though she credits them, but if you are an avid reader like myself, you have already read the articles). I happen to be from the same city as the author and I can tell you some of her "stories" seem off. Its crucial for readers and shoppers to remember not everything is at it seems!

The website author has multiple articles about how successful she has been at getting offered a multitude of bags from H and tons of special treatment. I doubt very much the author of this last article didn’t name drop at least a tiny bit to make this article more interesting.

I have a love/hate relationship with the site, as it often posts incorrect rumors or reposts old info like it’s breaking news. Also, the relentless posting of this lifestyle is fun, but it can get old. Especially if her fan base deal with a potential worldwide recession.

An article like this, makes me realize just how scoring a bag at FSH a first world problem, and not really a real problem to have in the scheme of things. The longing for a bag at my home store is not longer there. I will no longer spend and hope for an offer.

The magic is gone for me. They did have me going for a couple years, though.

Without a doubt that a lot of resellers inventory comes from H’s oldest customers and well heeled clients. During my short H affair, I’ve discovered that some of my long tenured H aficionados girl friends have consigned many B/K’s - some barely used, some brand new. Reasons ranged from: too many bags, bag size trends, no longer like colors, profit, etc.

Thank you for sharing your honest and genuine opinion. I enjoy all of your articles and the specific information, references and citations that you give!

ETA: leaving for Paris 1 week from today and fingers crossed I have an opportunity for my dream bag!

I honestly had no idea they were two separate entities. Thank you for shining the light. I was honestly starting to get turned off not because of this story but another one recently where the author was annoyed by a Parisian SA who first told her they had no stock then reviewed her profile, saw that she’d received a quota bag the previous day, and reiterated no stock. That lady had the nerve to tell another disappointed customer that a NQB was a great alternative on her way out the door. Unsolicited. The stories on that site are starting to turn me off.

Here’s my summer story from the very end of June.
I have been going to FSH for years as I am French and from Paris and have been living in the US for almost 20 years. But when I go to see my family.
I applied for appointments to FSH with both my husband’s and my passport for 10 days.
Nothing. I didn’t even get rejection emails some days…
Then again I never managed in years to get an appointment through the lottery.
We went to the store around noon and I ask for cancellation at the leather desks. A man wasn’t very helpful and didn’t care. So we went to look at the scarves and decided to try to see later if someone else would be nicer while he would go to lunch.
I bought a bunch of scarves and the SA was very nice. I complained to her about the appointment system and she agreed but said it’s the most fair.
She suggested trying online for both stores.
Then we noticed that the man at the leather desk had left and we went to ask a lady who seemed familiar.
We asked for cancellations.
There was nobody around and she took us a bit further to look up my account. She found it.
Then she told me she could give us an appointment right there. She had a SA who would be ready soon! We gave our phone number and 10 minutes later he took us upstairs.
He offered us a drink and asked for what I was looking for.
My kids started playing with their switch nicely finally.
I told him that I was looking for a mini K and a B seller hopefully in 25 because I already have other 30 and K25. I gave him my choice of colors (mostly Mauve Sylvestre and Pinks, hopefully Rose Gold hardwear) telling him I was opened to others except white and yellow.
I also mentioned something crossbody and he stopped me right there saying there was no Constance at all. I said ok.
He had looked up on his phone for inventory and would check what he would find.
He came back after a while with two boxes and took us upstairs. I was very very excited!
He first apologized that the stock wasn’t the best because it was just after Fashion Week.
He opened up the large box.
It was a B30 Seller in Bleu Indigo!!! I was so happy!
Second box: a Constance 24 (I just discovered it’s the re-edition) Mauve Sylvestre in Rose Gold HW! Remember when he said he had none?
I was beyond happy.
However I was concerned that I couldn’t choose since I thought they were both QB.
I told him I wanted both but wasn’t sure if I was allowed to buy both?
He was surprised and happy and told me that today I could!
My husband said it was the quickest decision I ever too.

Note that it’s not the first time that I get a walk-in appointment but I never managed to score one online. Before Covid it was not hard to get a walk-in.
I got one last August too because the store was empty. In December it was chaotic and I still got one because there was a mistake in my account and I couldn’t apply online. They had to fix it and give me appointment to apologize for their mistake however they truly had no stock because it was Xmas week and the warehouses had closed sometimes before in France. Remember the empty shelves?

I highly suggest to try in person when not busy.
Passing the leather desk is the hardest part. I have been refused walk-ins many times. Don’t give up!
Congratulations! Have you gotten quota bags last years at FSH before this recent offer? went there last November, SA did not offer me qb, bec she said I’ve gotten one already couple of years ago.

I’m going to paris next month, I have tried emailing the hotel to check if they can book me an appointment and they said its impossible. I will just try my luck with the online system, i will enjoy my time and not waste it in the store. I have also come across a blogger who was at the paris store last month and after shopping for 2 days with the same SA, she reports that the SA has asked her if is intrested in getting a bag,She said yes an was offered the in & out kelly bag.
