I will leave this reminder as a sticky because tthis is often a thread that new members (or new Hermès lovers) post on - hopefully temporarily.

Only the bespoke bags are made upstairs. The company has expanded so much with many stores needing stock, the main atelier is in Pantin and other ones have opened now all over France.
There are 51 workshops in France alone, and the company’s newest leather workshop, or maroquinerie, which opened this September is in the pastoral village of Saint-Vincent-de-Paul, on the outskirts of Bordeaux. (info from the Vanity Fair article, "Inside the Hermès Workshop")

Wow. Thanks for sharing. I haven’t seen that article but 51 seems much more accurate for the numbers of stores they have now. A few years ago, my SA was sent to a new leather atelier in France for an attachment. She spent some time sewing her own MC2 and learning about how they organised the making of the bags. Today when she unboxes, she can actually identify some bags and items made there, from the craftsman and atelier markings. We thought that was so cute!

Has anyone scored any ostrich B or K in paris? Would love to know the experience

hello! I did at Sevres- its a B25 ostrich black and rose gold hardware. I was offered btouch25 in rouge ( I forget the combo but a darker red) and a cargo Birkin as well but decided to build my collection in other leathers …

I do have a history at the store and my dear SA took her time to go over what would build out my collection. Problem is I have a lot of neutrals and I think next one I want something bright or in an exotic :)

Hi! I'm new to Hermes and am learning a lot from this thread. Thanks so much for sharing your experiences

Is there a limit to the number of bags that we are allowed to get in Paris? Does the limit include other non-quota bags? So for example, if I get a non-quota bag e.g. GP/Herbag from one of the stores in France, does that count towards the bag limit?

For non-bag items, are the queues usually long for FSH and the other Paris boutiques?

As foreigners, do we get tax refund immediately at the FSH (and other Paris boutiques) upon making payment? Do we have to submit any paperwork at the CDG airport?

I'm thinking of planning a trip to Paris later this year and would really love to visit the H stores there, so any tips and advices would be greatly appreciated! ;)

I have learned that H has no real rules if they like you and also that H Paris is even more flexible than other countries. Assuming you are lucky enough to get a quota bag during an appt, you can get non QB bags along with it. I actually saw someone’s recent post from FSH on a different forum that showed a B, K, and a C in one trip. That’s probably more on the unusual side though.

For non-bag items, no queuing generally for anything else. You’ll get an SA in that dept who will help you with your items.

For the tax refund (détaxe), you have to make sure you request it at the store and show your passport. They will give you a completed form. Then you need to scan it at the PABLO kiosk at CDG upon exit. You can choose to get the amount back on your card or immediately in cash. The détaxe amount varies by brand. H is 10% I think and Chanel is 12 or 13%. They’re all processed by the big companies like Planet or Global Blue.

If you are American, you should probably declare if you spend over 10K when you get home so you pay the appropriate duties and don’t get flagged and any Global Entry membership revoked. Customs does have access to your tax refund forms.

Thanks for sharing your experience! What a stunning bag  I would really like to create a profile in paris now that covid restrictions are relaxing a lot more and travel will be easier. I just didn’t know if it’s a huge reach to ask for an exotic leather at an appointment. (For someone in my position with no history in paris) Were you offered the btouch/ostrich/cargo in one visit to choose from or is this over a period of time?

it was one time last month- I would definitely ask for an exotic- there is no harm to ask! If you really want to build a purchase history ( they look for consistent buyers as well from what I can tell) then definitely ask for a SA card after your appointment and ask if you can buy from other departments too.

I don’t know if I detailed it on the forum before but I had a SA from Sevres help me- shes wonderful. I bought a sweater from her I didn’t love ( the color combo was something I had before) however I texted her can I return at FSH and she said no problem!

when I was switching out my sweater in FSH -the SA in RTW pulled up my profile. He immediately offered me to shop with him in leather.

I bought my quota bag in mid Feb and he said I can come back in 1 month and get a leather appointment with him by mid March. I was shocked but he saw my entire Hermes history.

I asked my SA in Sevres if I can transfer her to my hubby and she definitely didn’t mind - She told me in good faith that FSH has more variety than Sevres even with the types of bags they receive.

good luck @shermes and may the HErmes Gods be with you !

Hello,

it’s been a long time since I last went to Paris due travel restrictions.

how’s the chance of scoring a B/K/C if I purchase jewelry before hand?

and does an appointment at sevres or george V now requires online appointment too or can we still get an appointment if we lined up early in the morning?

Hi there! All Paris stores require an online appointment now if you want to shop for handbags. You will find lots of great info throughout this thread on shopping in Paris, how to register for an appointment, and stories of success etc... It's definitely worth taking the time to read! It really all comes down to luck; there is no magic formula to obtain a bag in Paris. Many members here have posted about their challenges just being granted an online appointment.... Buy jewelry if you love it, but please don't go with the expectation of a bag offer especially if you don't have a bag appointment. Wishing you lots of good luck. Enjoy Paris! :)

No B/K/C today, they arrived around 4 because appointment time kept changing the SA told my sister and mom said they didn’t get any shipment today. So we are asking picotin and tpm but the SA offered them herbag, garden party 30 and tpm. She told me we can only get one bag. So I think they will go with tpm as my moms gift! Hopefully a better luck with quota bags next time!

oh yes, Recently, from a few of my local friends, they confirmed that the later appointments usually comes with restriction on 1 bag no matter what type of bag it is. So, 4pm is considered late, as my friend's 5pm a few weeks ago also had restrictions on 1 bag.

Happy Birthday to your mom
Show some photos if you are able to, would love to see what color is showing up at local stores lately.

oh wow that is a stunning bag you have! May I ask what was the price of the ostrich bag? I would love to have a Birkin touch as well, I saw one in black the other day and it was so gorgeous :) I am thinking about expanding my collection into the exotics so I would love to know!

Hello, I am planning to visit Paris for the first time in many years and hoping to get an appointment online in one of the three stores. For those who have been lucky enough to get an appointment, could you please tell me (or anyone else who are knowledgeable on this) whether the SAs there can see your purchase history in other European countries as well? If they can, did you feel that they considered your history when they offered you a specific bag? Some said you have got to score an appointment at the FSH or otherwise you have zero hope of getting a bag. I was even told that at Sevres, they never give any bags to tourists but I'm sure this is not 100% true....

perhaps experiences differ, IDK ? I had my appointment at 330 pm Feb 14, and they told Dh and me to wait in a corner and forgot about us until maybe 4 pm. i asked for and accepted a 25K. The SA then asked if I would like to name any non quota requests, and it wasn’t limited to just one more. I just said I love mini Della cavalleria in neutrals. She brought down a mini DC vert criquet and apologized that they only had bright colors. so, I declined, and then she and I made an appt the next day for RTW.
