I will leave this reminder as a sticky because tthis is often a thread that new members (or new Hermès lovers) post on - hopefully temporarily.

There is a recent YouTube video with an ex artistan in la who dispells the august is a bad month myth. According to her there is a long process before they are brought to store so it doesn’t really matter what monthly you visit(except fashion week) since they get shipments all the time from their storage facility at least for normal leathers. For exotics and constances the artisan has to typically work 10 years on bags before they are given this task.

A question for some of the regular paris stores clients- do they have some of the different bag models to try to see which suit you? I am visiting in a few weeks and will try the lottery but also want to see some different bags to add to my wishlist with my local sa.

I’m happy to read the fun stories on this thread, and i try not to mind the newcomers who want to know the position of the moon at the time of an appt (not referring to any post in particular)

It really is up to luck and good fortune, and it is difficult to duplicate another’s path or game the system

my SA cautioned me to ask for imoossible things but be prepared to be offered a [insert bag you don’t care for: a mini roulis, in my case]

H may also offer a bag to another person that, for whatever reason, is unavailable to you. That’s life. It’s also why some knowledgeable TPFers advise that an easier and more certain path to a bag you love is via your local SA
I laughed out loud at position of the moon. People so badly want it to be some quantifiable formula when it really isn’t.

Correct, that there is no formula. (Aren't bags made in upstairs in the Faubourg store?). There is no formula b/c these are handmade items, when they're done, they're done.
Only the bespoke bags are made upstairs. The company has expanded so much with many stores needing stock, the main atelier is in Pantin and other ones have opened now all over France.

Makes sense. I asked b/c I had a fun thought of going over to the staircase and hollering, "People, hurry up." (And then I'd be quickly escorted out of the store). :)
