I will leave this reminder as a sticky because tthis is often a thread that new members (or new Hermès lovers) post on - hopefully temporarily.

I 100% disagree. And yes, I read through all the questions and explanations in this thread and still disagree. I did not sense any pushiness at all, perhaps some eagerness and excitement that someone here may be a kind resource and pass on information. This reminds me of people in upper class circles not wanting to share their kids tutors for fear of helping the competition. There are people out there who like to spread the joy. And others who don't. Of course if you aren't comfortable and especially if your SA would not be comfortable, you can absolutely decline. But I have no qualms with anyone making a request.

I hear you. That being said, there was a recent sudden change in tone in this thread that I, at least, found off-putting. I just find it odd when new members suddenly show up making demands that people post their purchase history and their SA info and telling long-standing members what the purpose of this forum is.

I’ve been around for five years and I still don’t feel comfortable asking certain questions or expressing opinions on certain issues.

I don’t want to be unwelcoming (not my place, see above) and I have no skin in the game in this particular thread. I may just be cantankerous but I think, before you benefit from the community, and certainly before you demand personal information from members, you should become a member of the community. Put some effort in. Contribute. Engage. Read. Learn. Then benefit. JMHO

I see your point of view. Thinking more about it, especially since you said it's new people jumping in and asking these questions, the one reason I might not share is because I may be sharing with a reseller. We all certainly know they are on TPF and this forum.

Hi Annie, I’m hoping to go to Paris and was wondering if you could help me with the contact of an SA. I’m looking for H mosaique, passifolia and h deco pieces and an old season Oran for my mother in law which seems to be available only in France. Thank you so much!
Hi hope you get your dream bag. I got my dream bag from Lucas from FSH. Must get an appointment for bags.
You don’t need to pre purchase. If you are lucky they will give B/K, be pro active.

Like with anything online, tones and nuances get lost through texts. Just because someone got a quota from Paris, doesn’t mean it will happen to everyone. Sharing FHA SA’s name is totally useless in my opinion.

I will just end this with my go to line, “YOU ARE RIGHT.” Paris SA don’t like it when established clients give out their names. Then again, IYKYK.

Dear all,

Newcomer on this forum! Do pardon me for my ignorance. Just wanted to check with you experienced folks, does one need a leather appointment in Paris to purchase a men's bag? Specifically, I am interested in the 'sac a depeches 29' messenger bag! Any inputs would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Hermes is already secretive, just help each other out. You help the SA get commission and help share information too. It’s not like we know each other on a personal level. Come on, this forum is to share, help and inspire.

There is no "helping each other out" when it comes to Paris. SA relationships are built not given and it's taken those of us who have built them years to build, let alone be given a chance at one. Giving you an SAs info does not guarantee you a bag or an appointment and puts those who have built a relationship in an awkward position with their SAs. SAs do go through these forums and their relationship do sour with their clients if they see that their info is being handed out like toilet paper. They also do not make commission on leather goods.

Hermes is a game. There are no cheat codes or work arounds. It sounds entitled to expect one from those who have done the hard work to actually score a bag. We've all had to wait in line, play the lottery, play the H game and/or pay a lot of money just to even get a chance at one.

‘It’s not like we know each other on a personal level.’ <- All the more reason to NOT provide your SAs contact information, especially when there isn’t appreciation / understanding for how this relationship has been fostered. Frankly, those who do wouldn’t ask the question to begin with.
This forum is a wealth of information shared from those with H experience to help others … and is available at your fingertips. To insulate anything but is wrong.

for introductions….I think it’s a matter of willing parties.

I asked my SAs whether they want my introductions. They both rejected.

I’m glad I asked because recently I have heard of some horror stories how customers demand for bags at H and ask why some people are offered bags with certain specs and they aren’t. I wouldn’t want to introduce a nut case to my SAs.

I have done it successfully in the past at FSH, but it’s not possible in this current climate and with the latest online appointment arrangement. It’s not simply about being helpful. I myself was introduced to one of my Paris CDCs and both my RTW and silk SAs and have maintained those relationships until now. Some kind members here have mentioned their SA’s names at the other Paris stores to me before, but I didn’t need to call on them. This forum used to be a very friendly community and generally new members didn’t post immediate requests which would be seen as rather entitled.
In Asia I have recently introduced friends who are now loyal customers. It depends on whether the SA can take more clients and if I know the person in question well and I like and trust them. Obviously.
