I thought I should give back to the forum. My wife and I are visiting from the US for the past 7 days (men’s fashion week and our 20th anniversary). She has a large history in our her home store in NJ, she gets the stuff she wants and has SO etc. No history in Paris.

She has been trying to get an appointment with no luck. But, she had me trying also. So being the good husband I would try everyday also.

At a Gucci dinner on Friday evening I received a text that I have a confirmed appointment for July 12 at 10:30am
At the FSH store. Also, received an email.

I showed her the text and email and she was upset that she didn’t get the appointment. Which I didn’t understand, because I said we will go together. Then I didn’t understand, because she said I will go by myself.

I have purchase history in Tokyo, 2 berkins and men’s stuff. I have purchase history in Paris George V, only because I stay at the 4 seasons across the street and have bought ties/sneakers etc when I needed something.

So I spent the weekend reading up here on the forum. So much great information.

Here is how it played out:
I arrived at 10:10am, 2 lines on either side of the front door. I told the security guard I have an appointment, he showed me which line. I was the 2nd person in line for appointments.

10:30 doors open. I enter and tell a SA I have an appointment. She said go up the stairs. Go there, another SA asked if I have an appointment, then another SA came and asked my name. Checked his phone and walked me over to a desk to meet the SA.

I counted 3 desks and 1 sofa. There were 8 people behind me in line. So 6 people had to wait. It was 10:36am when I sat down.

We made introductions, I told her what I was looking for and why. She asked what colors I did not want. But, we seemed to click and somehow the conversation shifted to many topics. I’m a physician so I am used to speaking with strangers.

She interrupted and said I want to go check the stock. After 28 minutes, she returned. All, the other people who were seated had already received boxes and their SA had returned. I was the only one without anything. She then comes to me and said please come upstairs.

We go up one flight of stairs and there is an Window alcove with a bench seat and chair. She placed all the boxes there.

Here was the offer:
Kelly 28 Sellier ep in Sesame
Kelly 28 sellier ep in some Dark Navy Blue
Birkin 25 ep in Black.
All with gold hardware.
Different color rodeos offered with each bag, black, multi etc.
Constance to go in blue, with exotic buckle
2 Hermès Clutches-pink and Brown.
A pile of the twilly things.

I had also asked about wallets, shoes, scarves but she said another SA will get those for me.

I chose the Kelly 28 sellier in Sesame, the Constance, brown clutch, all the rodeos and 2 twills.

we spoke for another 40 minutes and then she decided to accompany me and help me choose 2 wallets and 3 scarves. No shoe Sizes that I needed(for me or my daughter).

We spent a lot of time talking. I paid, she waited with me till my Uber arrived. Gave me her card and email and told me to email her for help with appointments.

Very nice woman!

I hope this helps some husbands/boyfriends or any of you.

Good luck! Oh, my wife tried again for an appointment on her own but no luck.
Oh wow i wonder if having a purchase history helped. I dont have any history in europe only US and Canada but they cant see it

Wow what a beautiful story that I enjoyed reading!!
It’s great that you managed to get an appointment and got all those beautiful things.
May I ask after how many tries you got the appointment confirmation.
I am planing to visit paris at the end of July for 4 days, and I’m worried about appointment rejections

I got it on my 3rd try. My wife was unsuccessful on all her attempts 5 or 6 I forgot to try one day. It was confirmed on Saturday, for today which is Monday, not Friday mistake on my part.

Also, no issue with US cellphone as some members reported. They also sent a reminder text 1hr before the appointment.

They definitely don’t see US purchase history when granting appointments online otherwise my wife would definitely get an appointment. She is well above 6 figures of spend, not just in leather goods, but furniture, clothing,
Jewelry etc. I am well below that but all my history is EU/Asia.

I really believe it’s all luck for the online system. Which is good and bad I guess.

Thank you, I’ll keep my fingers crossed and hope to share my success story here

Yes, it’s very much like a lottery system. There’s also no way around it, corporate doesn’t really care if one is a big spender in his or her home boutique. They will take in requests from VIPs (celebrities, top spenders in home countries, not stores) but I believe this is not something you can just ask for, you have to be asked.

The hard part is now getting an appointment. But I also don’t really think it’s a bad system! Everyone honestly has a shot at it and « tant mieux » as we say in French. If you’re a big spender in your home boutique with access to most of the bags you’ve been looking for, does it really matter to get an appointment in a Paris store? Enjoy the city - France has much more to offer than a quota bag.

I agree. But, for the members here who are so passionate about the brand being able to get their bag in Paris at FSH is a really special experience for them.

Much like for collector of Patek being able to get their watch in Geneva at the museum or AP from Le Brassus. Or car collector picking up from the factory.

Good luck to all.

Silly question, perhaps, but does the CDG boutique offer any bags? Will be flying thru with a longer layover and not looking for anything too crazy - maybe an Evelyne or Pico.

Yes they do! I was there at about two weeks ago at Terminal 2E. They had Evelyne, Garden Party, etc. in the display. I purchased a Evelyne 29 in Vert Criquet, some nice but small selections of small leather goods and RTW

Are the Hermes boutiques in Paris accepting any payments in cash these days (not surpassing France's cash limit per transaction)? I am not certain of any rules for cash payments in the Paris stores back when the pandemic was at its height but for a time the US stores were not accepting any cash payments regardless of the amount.

If so, is partial payment in cash and the remainder on a credit card allowed in Paris? I shopped in the Marseille boutique in 2019 and was told no cash payments at all. Thank you!

you can pay up to 10000€ in cash, did it in 2019 and june this year. What happen to you in Marseille isn’t normal they have to take cash.

A lot of places now don’t accept cash as a precautionary covid safety measure.

It’s possible. I think the difficulty is making/ getting an appointment and to be offered a bag you actually want right now. Many of my Paris SAs are currently taking their summer holidays which means fewer staff = fewer appointments and the usual dip in ready stock as craftspeople take their break as well. I wouldn’t believe everything one watches on YouTube either.
I agree SAs are taking holiday July/Aug including mine
I usually avoid these months

Early autumn and christmas are bext time though Christmas is very busy again, so I prefer to visit Paris early fall or in spring

Hearing that, what would you guys think be the best option (meaning apart from the FSH where I won't be lucky to score an appt I bet) if I'm interested in purchasing jypserie and jige in some non-neutral colours? Going to Paris for a few days next week.
