Thank you for the long rant. I have shopped at FSH for more than a decade but not as a local, as I have moved around the world and spent a lot of those 10 years in neighbouring countries. My SAs still give me appointments but I know many of my VVIP friends in your shoes. Although you have confirmed a lot which I suspected, I was surprised that local clients also have to go online. I was told the appointment system is really random. I also agree that it isolates loyal, long time customers. I have brought this up with my senior SA since the queues used to form outside the store at crazy hours. Also suspected the other points which you have mentioned. That's life I guess. Anyway. I hope your SA recovers well, maybe try for a Garden Party online or at another store in France? Thanks for sharing.

i hope she recovers too. it's a bit tough at the moment because it feels that i've lost my only lifeline to the store lol.

i can buy small leather goods online but not necessary something like the garden party. i have to have a good look and try it in person. because the hermes policy works this way. when you return an item, it goes into a credit and you have a limited amount of time to use it up. it is not very practical unless you are really sure you want the bag. so i guess i have to wait for the appointment system.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. It’s very interesting to hear how local residents feel about this, and it’s definitely very unfair to loyal local customers who are put into the same basket as resellers and walk-in tourists. If I had to fight for an appointment at my local store just to see a GP, I’d be very frustrated.

i am very frustrated!

the thing is, i don't see this happening elsewhere. i have been to stores in other cities and to be honest, the FSH appointment system is one of the most off putting ones... i did suggest that they have a separate system for long standing clients but they wanted to make sure that everyone have a fair go, which i can understand (In reality, this is not super true. it's very random and it depends on luck. i have friends from overseas who went to the store and got absolutely nothing. i also have friends from overseas who got something without buying much).

i mean, if the existing clients grow old and die, then it would not make sense to bank their money on their loyal clients who are getting old. however, before i was a client, my mom was a client. so the habit of buying from there sort of just got passed down to me. also, we live here and it's a lot easier for us to go in at least once a month to check something out as opposed to some tourists who may just pop in the store once.

I think it can be really confusing with FSH and I feel sorry for you as a local and long time client. So many ppl get different stories regarding local needed appointment too.. Maybe that's why my local friends prefer to shop at sevres or George v nowadays..

Not if you buy online, you get a full refund. I have only returned 2 items and this was the case for both of my returns. You can also have the item sent to store for collection so you can inspect before you sign to accept delivery

If you have items from the online shop shipped to the store, you will not get a refund in most of Europe if you decide not to take it, only store credit. This has obviously already frustrated many customers who were not aware in advance. Better just have it sent home - exchange for full refund.

They must have changed their policy then, that’s good to know! I usually have things sent to store if I know I won’t be able to sign for delivery at my home address. I refused an item last year and they marked it as a return and I received my refund from the online store back into my PayPal account.

Sorry that we’re going OT now. Maybe it’s different in the UK, not sure (assuming you are in the UK). But definitely the case in Germany and France and my SAs have warned me to never ever have anything delivered to the store. They did change their terms and conditions, though, must have been by the end of 2018.

Goodness really? I did not know that.

Mods, please feel free to move this to the respective thread. Sorry for going OT.

Taken from the UK site, probably similar wording on the other sites as well. Better to check with your local store and/or local customer service. The second sentence is the term they refer to (although not quite clear). Very disappointing as I know it used to be different where I am located as well.

Both have an appointment system now. So it's not super ideal. Unless you're prepared to line up at 9.30am (or earlier) in the morning to snag your appointment which I am not willing to do...

Also, their inventory is not superior to FSH. Even my friends who are regulars there (before this weird appointment system came up) are aware of it. But because FSH is becoming increasingly unaccessible (it has always been not very accessible, it just got harder and harder over time), my friends who started buying a lot later than I did turned to the both stores.

I know that you could get something from the two stores. Don't get me wrong. It's just that I have such a long history at the FSH store that it makes almost no sense to switch. Especially if my experience at George V has been less than stellar. And at sevres, i don't even want to talk about it lol. I just don't really know anyone there and the thing with Hermes is if you don't know anyone, it's as if the SA does not even want to know you. Not sure if any of you have experienced this. But based on my husband's account alone, it's pretty clear that if you don't have some form of prior relationship, expect poor service.

I mean, people have compared the service to Chanel, which have some expensive stuff. But the thing with Chanel is that they have so many stores concentrated in one location that it makes no sense for the SA to be rude to you and chase you away lol.

Anyway, I hope this long commentary will be helpful for you guys. My advice is don't take Hermes too seriously or just come to Paris for Hermes because your trip will be quite sad (and you'll be missing out a lot) unless you're dead set on scoring a B or K or one of their HG bags.

I've played this Hermes game for almost a decade now. To be honest, it's pretty tiring. I don't know how much further they can or are willing to push their loyal customers. I'm actually reaching the tipping point. But that's because I bought so much to the point there's pretty much nothing much left to buy (save for the beautiful desk they have)... It's only a matter of time before I stop becoming their customer once in for all...

So let me introduce my new beauty.. Birkin 30 bordeaux with gold hardware.
As my preference I gave to my SA birkin 25/30 vert cypress, etain, rouge h/ bordeaux. Told her that I was also open to a Constance but birkin was my first choise.
Absolutely love that the color is a bit chameleon like very cypress depending on the light the color might change a bit. It’s maybe not the best color for summer but I know that I will get so much wear of it.

At the end I add a lovely experience at the saint honoré boutique, and it’s seems they have a decent stock.. A woman was offer a Kelly in 25 other peoples with big boxes. Was to the boutique around 11am and it was super quite.
Such a lovely combo !! Congrats and I'm surprised that you mentioned the store was quite given that it is in the midst of Summer.

Hi,
I just wanted to Chip in here. I have always Interpreted the t&c in such a way that you have to return items to the online- Shop via FedEx pick-up and cannot drop them directly in store. That said ( although I cannot say whether the policy was changed afterwards), I have picked up an online order in store (Germany) in March 2019 and received the refund for the returned items back onto my cc.
