Thank you Honhon and lynne_ross. Yes I picked this because it was pretty in the light and green with gold headwear so something a bit different. But I'm really worried now I've got it back to the hotel. It's very very dark when the light isn't on it. And I wear mostly bright colors and navy. I don't know why I can't back my own decision. I just feel like etoupe would lighten everything I wear
The gold hardware looks beautiful with the colour! Hermes colours are so tricky since they look so different in different lighting. I have a indigo bag that looks blue in sunlight but passes for black otherwise. I wanted it as a ‘black alternative’ since I do not use my black bags and prefer a hint of colour. I feel this colour is similar to that and will be a great all seasons colour. If you are mostly using outside the green colour will come through and I would not worry how it looks inside in darker lighting.
Do you have one more day in Paris? Can you sleep on it and see how you feel tomorrow?

I got bags in both etoupe and vert cypress, the latter matches navy surprisingly well, far better than etoupe in my opinion.

However if it’s your only bag of H for a while, etoupe will be more versatile. Otherwise you can always buy more green outfit for your wardrobe. ;)

beautiful and and unique color! you won't find this seasonal color down the years. think about it this way, you don't have to worry about color stain to your bag against your jeans. logically speaking the length of evelyn makes it rub against your pants. my menthe lindy is stained on one side from jeans or whatever i was wearing.
it looks like its rose gold hardware?

I think this is a great color. Very sophisticated.

Vert cypress is lovely, don't regret it. Etoupe will always be around and you can always get one easily from any Hermes.

Hello everyone. Thanks so much for your help. I thought about it and decided i wanted to exchange the bag. The vert color is lovely but as this is my first and only Hermes bag i want it to be really versatile and i just worry that the cypress color was too dark.

So i ended up going back to the Servres store as that one is closer to my hotel. I asked if I could exchange the bag as I'd realised it was too dark and they told me they had no evelynes in store. I was supposed to catch up with a friend so I asked if I could please have a refund instead and they said they don't do refunds only store credits, and store credits only work in France they said. So rather suddenly I felt incredibly awful to have spent this money and now not to love the bag. I explained that I was leaving tomorrow and that I wouldn't be able to use the credit. They basically said bad luck and told me to try FSH. I asked if they could call FSH to check if there was a bag there because of course I didn't want to go all the way over there only to find they didn't have one. But they wouldn't do that. They were just so blase about it it made me feel awful. I know they have the system and all but this wasn't a quota bag and there should still be some level of service even if it is an entry level bag.

So then in a near panic I went to FSH and the story couldn't have been more different. The manager was so kind and got me an etoupe evelyne! So I got my first Hermes bag in Paris after all, I just wish I didn't have the horrible exchange experience. And I messed around my poor friend which I've apologised for but I'm still disappointed in myself.

Well now ill try to focus on my new bag and how lovely it is! Thank you all so much for your help and advice, it was all read and appreciated.

As long as you are happy- that's what matters in the end. And if you feel the etoupe is a better choice for you now, that's perfect. Both colors are wonderful, but YOU need to be comfortable with the color. You are correct- focus on your beautiful new bag.
It is a gorgeous classic color and you will love it always ( but my bet is that if you think this is your only H bag, well, hmmmmm....its a slippery slope!).
Congrats and enjoy it.

I panicked and cried after my first H bag purchase. It was too expensive and the wrong color for me. I got caught up in the moment and made a mistake. I really felt stupid. I pushed the boutique (not Paris) very hard to make it right and they did. Live and learn.
You can't go wrong with an etoupe evelyne as your first bag.

Great you were able to return and get the colour you were after. Happy that FSH came through. Now enjoy your bag.

Haha thanks dreaming big! I'm glad I'm not the only one who had mixed emotions. Big purchase for me too and I still feel like I'm in shock that it even happened!

I am so happy for you! I was about to post that you should go get the Etoupe! I know that feeling and sometimes you just get caught up in the moment. I am so glad you were able to get the Etoupe. You will love it so much. Do not worry that it took a crooked path to find her

I almost didn't want to keep reading after the first paragraph. So glad FSH came through for you. Buy the friend a box of Laduree macaroons or some other uniquely Parisian thing. If you hadn't exchanged the bag you'd spent the whole conversation (or at least half of it :)) expressing your regret about your purchase decision. B/C it would have -- and quite rightly so -- preoccupied your mind. That bag was dark. IMO the dark bags are specialty item, no one other than H (so far as I know) makes bags with leather being a changeable color in different lighting. I myself would love a prunoir (black prune) bag but it wasn't and would not be my first choice b/c I like brights, too.

Can I ask how many of those who get a bag in Paris carry it during the rest of their trip? Or do you take it home for its inaugural visit? As I mentioned some time ago, I didn't see anyone carry an H bag in Paris. Dress was casual, jeans, etc., among the populace which may have been one factor.

Same here - i only see a lot of asians carrying their H. Everyone looks so casual especially during the summer heatwave!
