I will leave this reminder as a sticky because tthis is often a thread that new members (or new Hermès lovers) post on - hopefully temporarily.

I was s bit unsure about Twins at first.. but the fact that you can take it apart, wear it different ways (8, 9 different ways?) i thought - why not... sorry the picotin didnt make your heart sing...
The design looks interesting, if don' t mind and have not done already, would you share price info on the Hermes bag price thread too for the twins bag?

If your second passport is EU but you live outside EU do you still get VAT?
Yes, as long as you have your EU homeland’s “carte consulaire” or equivalent from the embassy in the country where you reside. You must show this card at the time of purchase and at the time of détaxte, and the purchase must have been made no more than 90 days before leaving France. For example, I hold a French passport, and carry a “carte consulaire” issued by the French embassy in the country where I reside, as evidence that I don’t reside in France. Always works to get the détaxe.
Good luck!

Hello all, I am currently in Paris and looking for some advice. I’m hoping to buy my first Hermes bag here, an evelyne. I have tried the appointment system but it looks like I’ve missed out and tomorrow is my last day. I am staying nearish to Sevres and was thinking I could go there tomorrow and just try my luck? Is it even worth doing that? And if I do should I line up in the morning or just go when it’s convenient? I’m not sure if non quota bags are perhaps easier to come by.

Thanks every time for your time!

Hi dear, i believe you dont need an appointment for Evelyn. Just go straight to FSH or even Sevres Hermes to ask for Evelyn. wish you best of luck!

For Sevres, you could try waiting in line in the morning before it opens because the appointments are filled up then until about 3 pm. And make sure to ask the hostess for an approximate time of your appointment — I ended up waiting 3.5 hours in the store this week just to be offered a black Jige, at the height of summertime. Ha. That time would have been better spent wandering and enjoying the area.
The hostess at FSH told me to check back in the afternoon (e.g. after lunchtime) for cancellations, so we did and were seen. We didn’t get a bag at that time so left empty-handed but I was only after quota bags anyway.
At worst, you can try CDG where the tax-back is instant and you get a greater percentage off than otherwise. Good luck!

My advice ( for what its worth!) is get there BEFORE they open in the am, and make your point to the hostess that you are looking for an Evelyn, not a quota bag.You want to see what they have as early as possible.Plus you then have the rest of your last day in Paris to enjoy those croissants, frog legs and wine! But if you have plans in the am, then just go and see- sometimes serendipity is the best. And don;t forget the airport- I was offered a black evelyn 29 there last year- you never know.
I will be sending good vibes
PS- just saw the other post- and that is an excellent point- try either place, but early if possible.

Thanks all, you’re so nice to help me! I will try tomorrow and let you know how I go. If no luck I’ll try at the airport too
If you DO go to Sevres, and they tell you come back in a few hours, as fluffyhamster12 noted, going out and wandering is a great option- the Jardin de Luxembourg is lovely, and the Musee has a fine exhibit on the Nabis - or do whatever comes to mind. Paris IS for wandering!

Hello all! Well I went to FSH this morning not long after it opened because we were in the neighborhood having visited the orangerie.

I went up to the leather counter and said I had tried getting an appointment and was leaving tomorrow, but that I was hoping to get my first hermes bag, an Evelyne.

They looked up my details and then lo and behold I got an appointment! A lovely lady helped me and I asked for etoupe and vert.

She brought bank vert cypress and etoupe! I couldn't believe my luck. I have always liked etoupe because it's a classic color and goes with literally everything. And I kinda fancy vert vertigo (green is my favorite color) having seen it online a bit. I had never seen vert cypress, the one I was shown had gold hardwear.

Well I ummed and ahhed and I chose vert cypress. It was never on my radar but I just liked the color when it was in the light and the gold hardware, it was a bit different and a new color.

So now I'm walking around paris (just stopped for lunch!) and I confess I'm really worried I've made the wrong decision. That the vert cypress is too dark and I should have gone with etoupe that I've liked for a long time. I'm in a panic and don't know what to do :( should I go back? I know I risk not getting etoupe, that it will be sold. Sorry all, I know I'm mad!

Congrats on getting an appointment and the bag you were after!
If you are really unsure of the colour, you can go to any store and exchange the bag within some window of time. You risk the store not having the colour you want to exchange for.
Did you pick this colour over etoupe because you love green? Why are you second guessing yourself? I love green too.

Thank you Honhon and lynne_ross. Yes I picked this because it was pretty in the light and green with gold headwear so something a bit different. But I'm really worried now I've got it back to the hotel. It's very very dark when the light isn't on it. And I wear mostly bright colors and navy. I don't know why I can't back my own decision. I just feel like etoupe would lighten everything I wear :(

I'm a huge fan of green and vert cypress is a very lovely dark green. I personally don't think it's too dark and it goes perfectly with gold HW. Vert cypress is also a seasonal color, so it might not be in production much longer.

I agree with Honhon. You gut instinct was to pick vert cypress over etoupe when you had them both side-by-side. Trust your own decision, and enjoy the rest of your time in Paris!
