~~~ PART 4 ~~~
My appointment on Saturday was scheduled at 4:10pm. Inventory is usually low on a Saturday, not to mention late afternoon on a Saturday. I had no expectations and was planning for a high tea with DH and our baby since it was our last full day in Paris before flying back to the States.
I told DH that birkin is never available on a Saturday afternoon, but he insisted that I should still go and not waste another chance. He took our toddler back to hotel so this time I went to FSH by myself. I dressed casually (tee and pants. it was at high 70s that day).
I got there at 3:30pm-ish since my appointment time moved forward. But then it moved back to a later time so I walked around inside the store while waiting.
Out of my expectations, there were lots of good stuff being shown in public area. I saw a Kelly 25 in Zanzibar blue with gold hardware being shown in Men's accessories area downstairs. 15 mins later I saw a lady being offered Birkin 30 in Noir at the same spot! I was like, what's going on today?! They must have just received some deliveries and couldn't wait to sell them.
It was finally my turn at around 4:30pm. My SA is a very friendly young lady, always have a smile. She didn’t check my purchase history, she went straight up and asked me what I wanted. I gave her a list of colors for birkin 30, and a list of charms (rodeo or horseshoe). She immediately said that they sold out of charms then she headed to the stockroom.
She came back very quickly (like 5 mins or even less?) with a box in her arms and asked me to follow her. We went to the same area where the Kelly and Birkin were offered earlier. I was getting a little excited but didn't set my hopes too high. I just hoped that it would be a Birkin 30 in a color that I like.
She opened it up, she said "I am surprised that this is there, but I checked the computer, it is really there!" Turned out it was a Birkin 30 in Noir with gold hardware, togo leather! My jaw dropped!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was so shocked and speechless!!!
I tried it on for like 5 seconds and said "I will take it!! WOW!" Since there was no charms available, we just went straight to the cashier. The whole process (meet the SA + show the bag + checkout) was less than 20 mins.
The minute I stepped out the store, I texted DH "I got a Birkin, and it's a black with gold hardware!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!' He said "See? Told you, just keep an open mind." I was so glad that I had listened to him.
Presenting the beautiful Birkin I got last Saturday! Couldn’t believe I brought home 3 Hermes bags.
Thanks for letting me share!View attachment 4060781
That’s amazing! Congratulations [emoji322]
@princesscathryn Congrats and thank you for your detailed story, these are classics bags which you can wear forever. I notice FSH treats families well esp those with young children. My first visit with my then baby son was a resounding success and led to more than a decade of his subsequently having to sit for hours there!
I agree. When we first went to the store on Sevres, we tried to queue at the leather goods dept and the host put us in front of other parties so that we pretty much didn’t have to wait. The host was very friendly, she held my daughter’s hand, they went to the back room and she let her pick the juice and straw.
Although we weren’t offered any bags eventually, I still felt thankful of what she did. That was very nice of her.
I think I was there at the same time with you at Sevres and also later at FSH, I do remember your cute daughter and the hostess going to get the straw - I remember thinking to myself that was so sweet of the hostess!
Anyway it’s amazing to hear that your trip turns out extremely well!!! Congratulations on all the wonderful scores! Patience does pay off in the end :girlsigh::hbeat::hbeat:
Congrats !! You got the best bags in Paris. I don't remember reading on this thread that someone scored both a B, Lindy and Constance all in one trip. Lucky you. Did you pay a lot in Customs when you returned to the US?
Wow, you hit the jackpot, my dear! Congratulations! So lovely to see success story like yours!
My visit at FSH
Part 1: Securing an appointment
One Saturday April 28th my boyfriend and I tried to register for appointments for Monday April 30th since that was the day we would be arriving in Paris but did not secure an appointment. When we arrived on April 30th we both gave it another try at exactly 10:30am. Later that evening he was notified that he secured an appointment for Wednesday May 2 at 3PM (Hermes was closed due to the French holiday on May 1). Since the appointment was for later in the day I was getting worried and tried registering for an appointment for the following day (which I was able to secure for that Thursday at 11:35am). But let’s back track to my boyfriend’s appointment for Wednesday May 2. His appointment was scheduled for 3pm so we decided to check out the Louvre first thing in the morning and made our way over to FSH area around noon and did some shopping at Chanel before our appointment. We got to Hermes at 2:45pm and checked in with the hostess. We waited about 5-10 minutes before our SA greeted us. Immediately she asked me what I was looking for and I told her a neutral Constance 18 with rose gold hardware in any leather but swift. She asked if I would be interested in any other crossbody bags such as the 2002 if a Constance was not available. I told her that I would be interested in a neutral Kelly 28 or Birkin 25/30 if a Constance was not available. She said she would check and be back in a bit. Before she could leave my boyfriend exchanged some words with her while I started looking around the store. At some point my boyfriend came back to join me looking at the bags on display. About 10 minutes went by and my SA was still not back, I told my boyfriend that was a good sign and if she wasn’t back within the next 10-15minutes then most likely she found a bag for me. While we were waiting I spotted Michael Coste. Let me tell you, I was star struck! I immediately said to my boyfriend “Would it be weird if I asked for a photo with him?” To his reply, “Just play it cool and ask for a photo.” So I walked over to the customer service manager and asked if she thought Michael would mind that I asked for a photo and she said she would ask him. To my surprise, Michael was so down to earth and sweet! We took a few photos together and he loved the tshirt I made that said “Wirkin for a Birkin”. After a few photos with Michael I walked back to check out the photos to make sure they looked okay. During that time my boyfriend and Michael exchanged some words and Michael was looking up something on his phone and said to my boyfriend “see you Saturday at 2:30”. I asked my boyfriend what was that about and he responded “I asked him about the rooftop garden” and of course I was curious and asked “Is he taking us up there on Saturday?!?!” and my boyfriend played it cool and shook his head yes.
Part 2: Bagging a Bag(s)
About 15 minutes after taking photos with Michael our SA reappeared and said “Please follow me, I found something that I think you will love and I am surprised this is available.” She tried taking us to a private room but that was currently occupied so she took us to the fine jewelry section which was pretty quiet. She opened this box and there it was, a black C24 with rose gold hardware in Epsom leather. I was ecstatic! I tried it on for my boyfriend to see and told her I would take it. We chatted about a few other things before making our way downstairs and she asked if I would be interested in anything else. I inquired about a belt but that was unavailable then told her I would love a neutral Jige. She said she would look to see what’s available and walked away for about 15 minutes. My boyfriend proceeded to follow her and said he needed to use the restroom (I swear this part is relevant, just keep reading!) About 15 minutes went by and this time she came back with two small boxes. A black Jige (which I turned down) and a blue nuit with lizard trim Jige which she said was rare and my boyfriend insisted I take it home (and I did). Before we walked over to the counter to pay she asked to take a photo with me with my shirt and asked if I was okay with them using the photo for their newsletter (of course I wouldn’t mind)! After checking out she gave me a card with her email and said to email her if I needed anything else and that she would see us on Saturday at 2:30 and off we went.
Part 3: Hermes Secret Rooftop Garden
On Saturday my boyfriend and I decided to dress up nice since we were going to be at the Hermes rooftop garden and figured we would take some photos up there. When we arrived to the flagship store I waited in line to check in with the hostess. About 5 minutes goes by and my boyfriend said to me “I’m pretty sure that’s Michael standing there, wait here and I’ll go check to see if it’s him.” Sure enough it was Michael so I walked over to where my boyfriend was chatting with Michael and our SA from Wednesday. Michael greets me and says “I have something very special I would love to show you” and proceeded to take us upstairs and showed us the craftsmen’s workshop where some of the special order pieces are made before making our way over to the rooftop garden. We got to the rooftop and it was everything I’d imagine it would be. So beautiful and the weather was perfect, mid 70s and sunny. I asked Michael if it would be okay to take some photos and he said not at all and offered to take the pictures for us. Since it was so warm on the rooftop I decided to take my sweater off and since I didn’t want to keep Michael waiting I put my sweater on the floor/grass. When I turned around my boyfriend was on his knees and proposed to me! I said yes! I couldn’t believe it!
We stayed on the rooftop for another 15-20min celebrating with the hostess, our SA and Michael. They brought out champagne and pastries for us and gifted us the Un Jardin sur le Toit Eau de toilette to commemorate our special day. We made our way back downstairs and chatted with a few other employees from the management team and SA. Our SA asked if there was anything I’d like to see but I was still in shock and said that I am happy with everything I have that I couldn’t think of anything else at the moment and off we went back to our AirBnB to break the news to our families.
Part 4: Behind the Scenes
It turns out that when my boyfriend was talking to our SA on Wednesday he asked her if there was any way possible he can speak to someone about getting on the rooftop because he wanted to propose to me there. She almost started tearing and went to look for a manager to tell them about his request and they forwarded the request to Michael. That was when the management team came down with Michael, which was when I spotted him and asked for a photo with him. When I was too busy checking out the photos on my phone, my boyfriend told Michael about his plans and asked if he wanted to propose that day, but he did not have the ring on him… Oh, remember when my boyfriend asked about the restroom? Well, he didn’t need to use the restroom, he was chatting with our SA and told her Michael confirmed for Saturday at 2:30 for us to check out the rooftop garden. All along the hostess, chef (yes, they have a chef upstairs), leather department team, management team, our SA and Michael knew about his planned proposal! This trip to Paris couldn’t have been any better. It was perfect! Thank you all for letting me share my story about my trip to Paris for Hermes.
Fun fact: We are the 2 couple to get engaged on the rooftop garden :heart:
