Slightly OT, but I always thought a fake bag had to be destroyed due to some French law. Does anyone know if this is the case, or if it’s completely discretionary?

This is what I'm interested in this information. It's a frightening thought to think that you could send a bag and have this experience. Bababebi authenticated a bag for me, and I had full confidence in the outcome. Information can do this at their discretionary, yet, yet not knowing the person who made these decisions may not have the experience to make that decision, is ridiculous. I feel stressed for the situation and it's not even my bag. Best wishes for a good outcome.

My SA told me a while back that there is a computer chip implanted in authentic H bags. I don't know if this is true or not. In this day and age, it sounds somewhat plausible.

Although, this may be a practice, it may not be applicable to an older bag.
I also wonder about Hermes keeping records for the sales of their merchandise, knowing who their clientele and their purchases. I would like to think they would have an identifier on the bag to when it was purchased and by who, within a database. From what I understand this bag was limited.

I am so sorry OP. I can't imagine how stressed out you must be about this whole situation. Not only because your beautiful bag is being held hostage by some person in France you can't even talk to but because you are just stuck waiting for an answer and have seemingly no control.

I had to go through something similar (not involving a bag but rather medical test results that someone misread) and it was awful and stressful. Hope Hermes makes it right and you get your bag back soon. Sending positive thoughts your way.

Hi :wave:Yes, that the law in France. All H bags are made in France. FYI Chanel make most of their bags in other EU countries e.g. Italy. LV makes them in France as well as Mexico and S. California, so their policies might be different as far as destroying fakes are concerned. HTH:smile:
Just want to add that what I wrote has NOTHING to do with OP's K, but just FYI for the question asked.

I am so sorry that it happened to you, OP! It is a stunning bag and I can’t imagine the stress H put you through. I hope they will own up to their mistake and make it up to you somehow. Please do keep us posted, I will be checking this thread!

I have never heard of a chip being placed in bags and would love to know which store is putting out this information.

I also don't believe there is a identifier that differentiates among bags. You might learn where the bag was made and by whom by the marks, but more than one bag can have the same/similar marks. But would love to know if I am wrong.

Hermes does keep records of their customers' purchases, but as we have seen multiple times, their computer system is not worldwide and might not even encompass all of e.g. Europe as opposed to individual countries.
