I am very sorry OP, you must be so shocked, I hope it all resolves in the best possible way.

I think mistakes can happen everywhere, and that would include both Bababebi and Hermes. It must be frustrating when you have gone through all due diligence. But do we seriously think that at Hermes they would deem this bag fake just because it is a MOU, i.e, because of the missing layer!? If that is the case it should be an easy mistake to correct.

Best of luck.

I’m so sorry for the stress you’re going through. I can say without a doubt Paris has been mistaken in the past and giving them a chance to redeem themselves is the best recourse with the help of your store director or Sales associate.
Oh please do share your story. I would have thought Hermès would have the final say in authenticating their own bags. How did the mistake happen :wtf:and how was it rectified?

Even a relatively "long term" employee or artisan of Hermes, say, one who has been employed for 10 years, may never have seen, let alone made, a mou Kelly. I suspect with the wave of new artisans in recent years, the deep knowledge of some of the vintage or limited production bags is held by only a few of the long term craftsmen. If the bag in question was reviewed by someone who is only familiar with current styles, it may have been assessed as non genuine. I believe a review by Hermes Paris, with the assistance of bababebi and her expertise, will most likely result in a positive outcome. Best of luck OP.

This is great info and useful perspective. I had no idea that sometimes Hermes partnered with Bababebi to assert authenticity. Thanks for explaining the process

There is absolutely no way that’s gonna happen. This is not like authenticating a da Vinci. Hermes will never call an external ‘aurhenticator’. Authenticators are simply people who have a lot of experience with a brand, they are by no means authorised to authenticate by Hermès.

I have read this entire thread. I stand by the certificate I gave the OP. The Kelly is an authentic Hermes product. It is a limited edition Kelly Sellier Mou. These were produced between 2005 and 2007 and only in Togo and Chèvre. I own two myself purchased from the Hermes Boutique which are identical in every respect. The determination apparently given on the bag by Hermes is incorrect and unfortunate.

Thank you bababebi for your direct response here. I value and regard your service and expertise highly. It is your reassurance that gives me confidence to continue challenging Hermès for a rebuttal on my bag’s authenticity.

it is both appalling and unfortunate this is happening and I do hope H will sort this out soon for the OP @SupaUltra_J

It is even more unfortunate that H insist on their ultimate right to destroy any bags they deem unauthentic, as error is clearly made in this case. "To err is human" - remember that saying ?

This also makes one wonder how many more similar mistakes the in-house authentication team have made all these years and destroyed genuine bags.

Note --- The below statement may seem harsh, pls look away now if you do not want to read further ---

Confiscating genuine bags from people due to mistakes made by H in house authentication team is simply wrong and this must be rectified swiftly and a solution is reached quickly. I hope this will prompt H to carry out a review on their policies. Otherwise, it certainly starts to feel as if it is daylight robbery!

Paris has been wrong plenty of times. So have authenticators (I am not aware of any time that has applies to bababebi, though).
I heard a scarf salesperson at Madison call my SO Kelly a fake to her colleague. I don't think she knew I heard. She's not an artisan, but a pretty swift jump to a very wrong judgment. (She lost out on a sale from that, too....).

Without more knowledge of the facts I would not be surprised at all if someone at Paris HQ was unfamiliar with sellier mou.

I'm just super concerned for the OP here. It must be so stressful.

I had a bag that used a zipper from the z in a circle to A or B in a square, and a SA thought it was a fake. The after-sales girl from Beverly Hills, who was young, didn’t even know my bag’s leather was Ardennes.

I disagree with people on this thread (not you QF) that a bag can’t be authenticated by photos. For people like bababebi, even you and me that have owned bags from different decades, you realize Hermes bags have certain characteristics that only authenticate ones have, period.

To the OP, be tough and strong against Hermes and get your bag back with an apology, as I am sure they made a mistake.

Can you post the photos in this thread?

I would like to send my sincere gratitude to all that have left heart warming words both in the responses to my thread and my PMs. This is exactly why I love this forum and our ever helpful, ever supportive H sub forum.

For those who are interested in knowing more about Mou sellier Kelly in general, and those that have offered to have a look at some pictures of my Ms K in particular, here are few of the pictures originally taken for authentication purposes.

My bag was an I stamp, Togo mou sellier Kelly sac 28cm, phw. I wish to see her back with me safe and sound.
