Hi,

Newbie here but offered a B30 in BF today from my awesome SA! I have not had a chance to see it yet. Quick questions...

1) Does it slouch like clemence
2) Is it heavier than togo (like clemence)?
3) Will it "age" to a darker brown with time than the Gold B35 I own?

1. My B35 In BF is very sturdy and structured. I use it every day and have had no slouch at all. This may be attributable to how I store it. That said, I was offered a second BF B35 that looked much “softer” if that makes sense? I imagine it would have had a higher slouch tendency, so it depends.
2. It is ever so slightly heavier than Togo, I believe.
3. My SA told me that mine would darken, but was unsure of how much. My BF is a honey brown. Back to the twin bag I was offered... it was literally 2 shades darker than my current BF. I was stunned and so was the SA. So again, it depends. I doubt mine will get darker than traditional gold, but the BF twin I was shown most definitely would have.

Best advice, go see it!! It’s just a wonderful bag and I love it to death.

I have the pleasure of having TeeCee’s twin in a 30cm. Mine is slouchy, which I love, and is darker than my gold pieces I currently have.
(GP 30 Negonda, B25 Togo)
Weight wise, I would say it’s on par with clemence.

I'm leaning towards the Faubourg myself, I'm so glad to hear that you prefer it too. As far as I know the smallest Birkin in Barenia is a 30.

There I was, walking along, minding my own business WHEN I GOT SPLASHED. It had rained a little earlier and a car mush have hit a little puddle in just the right place and my BF was positioned perfectly to take the brunt of the splash[emoji33][emoji33][emoji33]she was covered!!! I had 5 million heart attacks. Panicked. Tried to confirm it was in fact just water. Then. The most amazing thing happened. It all disappeared [emoji33][emoji33][emoji33] gone. Without a trace. Leaving me panting and ghasping at nothing. So for those of you who still questioned the durability of BF in the face of water....fear no more.

Thank you for this post! You have no idea how much relief it gives me (being a brand new b30 BF owner). I don't mind getting wear and tear but was worried about some of the earlier posts where some SAs mentioned water being "deadly" to BF.

Totally agree. I think the majority of harm is caused by people frantically rubbing and messing with the wet area which ends up harming the leather itself.

Definitely! I refrained from touching it because for a split second I thought it might be paint (the spots were SO dark and construction right by me). I really didn’t want to make it worse. Luckily I didn’t touch it and they just disappeared. Magic.

I turned down a B30 in barenia f but this post is making me rethink that! Well I turned it down for more then one reason, but I was scared of all the “water is death to Barenia F” - so the last couple posts are exciting. Do they ever have gold hardware, unless my eyes deceive me - none of the pictures here are BF with gold? Ideally I’d like a natural Barenia B35 with gold hardware but my SA lead me to believe that would never happen. I like the idea of scratching, more water resiliency and everything just fading into the patina over time. I have 4 young boys and I work my bags. Maybe need to rethink the Barenia F.....

I just looked! They do exist! It’s a unicorn [emoji882]! Fortunately I still prefer palladium hardware or permabrass over gold. So, no FOMO for me!

There’s a terrific post and photo from a while back in one of docride’s threads about Vache Natural and Barenia that shows a tpfer wearing her drenched Barenia evelyne after being caught in a rainstorm and then what her evelyne looked like after the water dried. If I remember correctly, her evelyne was absolutely perfect in the “after” photo. (Vache Natural is the one that you want to keep away from water and rain....)

I agree. In Paris, I was offered a BF Birkin 30 with gold hardware and a 35 with silver. I only buy 35s so that was easy but honestly the silver looks better because the bag is a more casual rendition of a Birkin when done in BF. The SA told me he had only ever seen gold on a 30 and a 25, but never a 35 because Asians tend not to buy 35s and tend to prefer gold so some were made to appeal to a specific clientele. Half of what various SAs have told me over the years is pure nonsense but this SA is usually spot on when he says something. For instance, he told me it’s perfectly okay to get BF wet. That’s definitely true. They should just make both available so people can choose for themselves. At first they were only available in silver so I guess that is what they’re doing now.

Mine is lighter and the leather is thinner than Clemence or smooth Barenia. Don't know about the aging.
