I know it can be confusing with different leathers called similar names, but this thread is for Barenia Faubourg only.

For the original (smooth) Barenia please post here:

if you had to choose between classic Barenia and Barenia F, which would you choose. I would love to hear from collectors who have both.

It would depend on what bag we're talking about for me. For birkin I'll probably go for BF if I really can choose only one. But for most other bags I'll prefer barenia. It just seems to tell more stories about you being smooth and getting marks easier. I also prefer the smell of barenia.

I wouldn’t do the saddle soaping myself either. They did it last summer when I bought the bag and again now. But it doesn’t look at all different. My NYC SA just shrugged when I mentioned it. They do have to get the bag pretty wet to do it. It takes all day to dry...

Do you by any chance have before and after pictures of your BF after the saddle soaping? Interested....

I have both, smooth and grained. I love them both, but in different ways. Faubourg is prettier, in that it doesn’t get the abrasions, and in my experience it’s patina seems to evolve quicker. Smooth is the classic, and there’s nothing like it as it ages.

If I had a choice between a smooth B25 and a Faubourg b25 (not that they make them as far as I know), it would be Faubourg. I love it that much.
I'm leaning towards the Faubourg myself, I'm so glad to hear that you prefer it too. As far as I know the smallest Birkin in Barenia is a 30.

There are B25s in smooth Barenia.
If I had to choose, I know I am in the wrong thread here, but I would choose smooth Barenia.

Naah...there’s not a competition! An open discussion promotes a sharing of ideas and thought processes. That’s why I started this thread to begin with! Thank you for giving your complete and honest assessment and choice!

I think we're all equal opportunity Barenia lovers here. And for your random cultural reference consideration, I quote Agent Smith..."It's the smell!"

Hi,

Newbie here but offered a B30 in BF today from my awesome SA! I have not had a chance to see it yet. Quick questions...

1) Does it slouch like clemence
2) Is it heavier than togo (like clemence)?
3) Will it "age" to a darker brown with time than the Gold B35 I own?

Thank you to all for any and all advice!

Kate
