I have a quick question...

I know that the letter "I" is not used for the month on the serial numbers to avoid confusion with the number 1, but was it a time they were used?
I have seen a creed that clearly stars with "I" from a bag made in Italy (plant code E), creed otherwise seems legit, plus the bag has the original box and everything.
TIA for your input.
Sometimes there were mistakes.

It's a correct creed, assuming the bag has the right details. It's a legitimate mistake.

Thank you whateve, you ladies taught us about the possibility of mistakes, just wondering if there was a time or perhaps plant, when/where they used the "I" for a while, till they realized better not to use it.
More like trying to learn history, than to authenticate the bag, LOL

Some plants made more mistakes than others. There are some erroneous N month codes too. You shouldn't expect consistency when considering Coach.

Mistakes happened also with foreign plants.

In fact, the Italian plant also had mistakes in using the "N" month code:

Oops, @whateve beat me again!

The mistakes involving "i" and "n" are also mentioned in the Salearea Guides
https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/salearea-guides.983575/page-2#post-32253074

The next major change started in 1994. Production codes and the bag’s style number now became part of the serial. The first digit was the month code, always a letter of the alphabet and supposed to include only A through M, although a few mistakes were made and a rare “N” might slip through. (The letter “i” was usually avoided because it was too easy to confuse it with the number 1, but a few slipped through)...

Yes, I had read and remember that part. Thus my original question, mistake or non authentic.

I have a black Station bag from Coach that looks authentic but there are problems. All the hardware is marked Coach but the label inside after the creed is marked Made in Korea, 202-01. I'm feeling this is a fake but is made with heavy leather and brass zippers and hardware. Was there ever such a bag by Coach. I have a lot of Coach bags and this looks authentic! Help Please

Definitely fake. Coach never made bags in Korea. The number is the wrong format for Coach numbers. Station bags never had any markings on the hardware.

You are welcome to post pictures of your other bags for authentication in this thread: https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/authenticate-this-coach-see-first-post-for-format.889527/

K2L-9973 -- K2L is always an invalid prefix and none of the bags with the serial number are correct 9973s..

This serial number has been seen on a number of different styles of fakes, none of which were camera bags (9973).

Here's a recent post followed by a picture of the creed, authenticated by Entrupy:

And here's an older post with a different style fake and the same bogus serial number;

Although it's now been removed, this was a link to another listing that was reported tonight:

I was able to pull up a cache of the listing. Here are screenshots:

Thanks!

And a found a few more connected K2Ls. Here's an old Tradesy "City Bag" that has the correct style number but still a fake USA creed:

and here's what I'm sure is a GENUINE K2L- serial, made in China. Apparently the L code was transferred to a Chinese plant shortly after the Thai plant was closed. The style number and details are correct for the Small Slim Duffle Sac shown and so is the creed wording.

and one more K2L-9973 fake, this one with a butchered strap, courtesy of picclick.com:

What do you think of this 2003 Thailand L plant creed?
